My son and I went to the Old Hickory Steakhouse last night for supper. They seated us downstairs at the bar, where we enjoyed a dim, posh, friendly atmosphere. The beverages were delicious and the steak and veggies were scrumptious! Everything tasted so fresh and the combinations were perfect. As always, we ordered more than we could finish but it made for great leftovers to share today. I'm pretty sure that's the most expensive meal I've ever paid for but when at the Gaylord Texan you expect luxury. It was definitely worth it! If I'm ever back there I'll definitely eat Old Hickory Steakhouse again.

We had our anniversary dinner here and had an amazing meal. The place is massive. Our server Manny was excellent. Very attentive and gave great recommendations. The east coast oysters, oysters Rockefeller and the hamachi crudo were great starters. The tomahawk was cooked to perfection and the Chilean sea bass was fantastic. The Yukon gold potatoes were a great side. Our daughter enjoyed her macaroni and cheese. The complimentary dessert for our anniversary was a nice touch. We can't wait to visit again.

The service was impeccable. We didn't realize we walked in after closing since it was only 8:35 and they still insisted on accommodating my friend and I. They gave us a glass of great champagne for taking some time to come to the table and some sides. The creamed corn was perfectly creamy and spicy, potatoes were perfectly whipped and buttery, risotto was the best thing 10/10. I loved my blt wedge salad. Perfectly dressed and seasoned. My friend got the lobster bisque and sea bass which were both cooked perfectly. The desserts were very rich and fluffy. It was empty in there because it was closed but very nicely decorated and dim inside. The vibe was nice and refined.

This was a great experience! The staff was VERY attentive and food was fantastic. Got the Delmonico Steak with the Mac n Cheese and Spicy Cream Corn. The steak was cooked perfectly and the corn had just the right amount of spice. The Mac N Cheese was incredibly creamy and had great flavor. Finished with the Baked Alaska which is a dish I've never had before. For it being my first time I loved the dish and would absolutely order it again.

My flight was canceled, so I stayed at the Gaylord Texas and treated myself to a steakhouse dinner. I stopped by the absolutely beautiful bar and spoke to the bar manager, Ashley. She ensured I would have a table all to myself at 7 p.m. on a Saturday night for dinner. Upon arrival, there was live music with a Frank Sinatra tribute. It was fantastic and definitely set the mood. I was seated in a corner seat in the bar, where I would have privacy to work and enjoy my meal. Of course, I ordered the peach burreta and the cheese board. I couldn't eat it all, but I sat and nibbled on it for a few hours while enjoying the music. My servers were absolutely fantastic. Two hours later, I wanted a steak, so I ordered the filet, and it was cooked perfectly. The peach bureeta was refreshing and transferred me from a restaurant to a beach, the cheese board was delicious; however, there was a bright orange cheese I would not ever try again, but the filet with the peppers and onions was fantastic. I want to mention that Ashley was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and specialty menus, plus well-trained in alcohol pairing and options. Absolutely worth the splurge!

Old Hickory, you fancy little meat palace. She just got a facelift and wow, she's thriving. Like a botox and balayage level glow-up. You walk in and it's giving rich aunt who suddenly found herself and now only wears linen. A true queen. But let's get one thing straight, did we come here to get steak at the steakhouse? Absolutely not. Because the real flex is ordering seafood in the land of landlocked beef fanatics and cowboy decor. I opened with oysters (duh). Briny, cold, and judgy just like me. Then came the crab cake, which I'd describe as luxuriously crabby, like if a Maryland crab cake went to finishing school. Zero filler, unless you count my Instagram captions. Ha! And then brace yourselves for the cutest little crudo dish you've ever seen. And it was topped with what I can only describe as a crunchy ornament. I don't even know what that means, but it crunched and it was ornamental and I loved it. Honestly, the whole experience was a seafood slay in a place where everyone else is chewing on flesh. 10/10 would seafood again.

Rolled in at 7:30pm and sat in the bar area. Our server was the bomb. She took great care of us. Even brought me a pashmina to keep me warm because the a/c was directly overhead. We started with a round of wine from Oregon. Delicious. Then we enjoyed the "perfect potato" amongst four people. So big and so good smothered in cheese, BACON, and sour cream. For entrees we did salad with protein. Two of us enjoyed perfectly cooked salmon with Caesar salads, and then the other just had a wedge salad without protein. Great place and awesome ambience.

This is the upscale restaurant in Gaylord Texan Resort. Ambience is what you expect Texas to look like as a visitor. Very grand with lots of wood and iron. The dress is maybe business attire. The staff was welcoming. The Food very much caters to the idea of everything in Texas is bigger. I had the baked potato which had a melted cheese and bacon bits but I couldn't figure out the consistency. The potato was super huge and under cooked. The baby gem salad was over dressed and had the same odd textured and tasting bacon bits. The meal was just ok. Level set your expectations. Think conference, touristy, and the "Texas" experience. I think a visitor in Grapevine would enjoy the experience. As a local, I likely wouldn't return.

We came to Old Hickory for our first night stay at the Gaylord and I am glad we did. This steakhouse did fantastic job from beginning to end. Just a short walk from our room, we arrived a little early and waited for just a few minutes until we were seated right on time of our reservations. The experience was PEFECT. We were greeted in seconds by our waiters and given water and incredibly delicious selection of rolls and flatbread. Great venue and lots of electricity in the air. Many large parties especially since the convention was 5000+ people. Very comfortable noise level so speaking across the table was easy. I am not a big fan of loud unless Im in a bar or pub. The next time the waiter came, greeted us and proudly (yes proudly) again explained the menu. Everything sounded so good. My wife and I knew what we were having ahead of time since we went through all the selections at home, on-line. We went with the New York Strip and Sea Bass. The main meals were fantastic. They also did a great job on the salads. Their asparagus was perfect and we both enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes. The strip was wonderful and tasty, (my wife let me try a piece and even brought some back to the room for next day lunch.) It was perfectly cooked, tasty and juicy. Was there any fat on this at all? It was good, I mean really really good. The Sea Bass was amazing.. This could have be the best piece I have ever had. Miso-Orange Vadouvan Parsnip, and Mousseline. A crispy crust and flaky tasty pice of fish. I really recommend this restaurant. The overall atmosphere, service, food, enthusiasm in the air was delightful to experience. Thank you to our wonderful servers and staff here that helped make this a wonderful evening.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our recent visit to Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Gaylord Texan. We were there celebrating my birthday and a first date, and "exceptional" doesn't even begin to cover it. From the stunning recent renovations to the cozy, upscale ambiance, everything was perfect. The service was the highlight of our night. Our server, Lu, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like the only people in the room. The GM, David Carlos, also went out of his way to ensure our experience was unforgettable. It is rare to see a management team so invested in their guests' happiness. The food was easily the best I've ever had. We started with the Texan Charcuterie Board and the Lobster Bisque, both of which were rich and flavorful. For the main event, the Wagyu Porterhouse was cooked to absolute perfection. We paired it with the Roasted Texas Mushrooms, Habanero Creamed Sunglow Corn, and two types of potatoes--the Perfect Baked Potato and the Yukon Gold Mashed. Every bite was a 10/10. To finish, Lu surprised me with the Cacao Pulse for my birthday, and we also shared the Pumpkin Silhouette. Paired with excellent red wine, champagne, and dessert wine, it was the perfect end to a perfect night. We can't wait to go back!

Went back for a side by side comparison of the Cowboy Steak v the 8oz filet mignon. Again, our server was amazing. Both were prepared a perfect medium. Both could be cut with a fork....literally. The filet was just so soft and tender. The Cowboy steak was also soft and buttery. The filet was a softer and more tender chew. As far as flavor goes, the Cowboy wins. It just has so much 'natural' flavor, rendered from the marbled fat. The filet also had lots of 'added' flavor from the salt & pepper seasoning. Both were excellent, but I am a filet man, so I would say the filet mignon wins by a nose. Another factor to help decide which to pick: the filet is 8oz. The Cowboy Steak is 24oz. So, I guess you'd get the latter if you're really hungry or if you intend to share with others. The filet is certainly enough for one.

Best steak ever! Old Hickory Steakhouse in the Gaylord Texan was an absolutely amazing dining experience. I made a reservation for Valentine's day, parked in the garage, and found the restaurant in just a few minutes. The host was polite and sat my wife and I quickly after validating my parking ticket. The upstairs entrance has a bar and lounge to the side while the large dining area is downstairs. Our waitress was friendly and attended to our table in an extremely timely manner. they have a wonderful selection on their menu and the food arrived very quickly. we were brought twisted bread to start which was warm and soft with whipped, salted butter. We ordered east coast oysters and pacific blue crab cake as appetizers along with white wine pairings of pinot grigio and chardonnay. the oysters were delectable with the perfect toppings and the crab cake was delicious. we were then brought our steaks- a 14oz NY strip and a 10oz bone in filet mignon. the best we've ever had! so juicy, so flavorful, and cooked perfectly (rare and medium rare, of course). we ordered the crème a poivre and espresso horseradish crema as sauces for the steaks. the sides of parmesan truffle fries and caesar style grilled broccolini were mouthwatering. we paired a pinot noir with our main meal. finally, we were brought a small plate of chocolate covered strawberries as a Valentine's treat. the waitress and chef were happy to talk to us to give us more information when we asked for it. the ambience of the restaurant was very nice and we enjoyed getting to walk around the interior of the hotel afterwards. the price matches the exquisite dining experience.

Location Inside Gaylord Resort Parking This restaurant will validate parking. Atmosphere Upscale steakhouse. Recently re-decorated-the bar is in a different location- Service Outstanding-Anasthasia the host will take excellent care of you as will the servers Menu So many choices! The cheese and meat plate is large and the server describes the seasonal offerings. The crab cake was light, very meaty-no breading, served with salad greens. The Chilean sea bass was outstanding-served with slivers of steamed veggies. We had the grilled asparagus with a grated/melted cheese topping-delivered sh! The scallops were perfectly cooked. Separate seasonal dessert menu-everything was tempting. Summary If you don't have a reservation-ask the host for bar seating. Food is outstanding-everyone around us ordered something different and were happy. We love this restaurant and can't wait to go back!

How long is this restaurant expected to be closed?

    Is there a dress code?

Technically, probably not. However, on a Wednesday night everyone was wearing at least business casual or dressy resort. You're paying $60 for a steak, so please dress appropriately. Even though it is at a "resort", it is a "nice" steakhouse…

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.

Not at all worth the price you're paying, severely lacking in flavor, and takes waaaaay Too long to be delivered to your table after ordering. We started with the Texas Trio and we did enjoy that. It is kind of hard to mess up queso, salsa and pimento cheese- however we did say that was one thing we would eat again and was worth its value. My husband and other son bothe ordered cheeseburgers at $22 a pop and both said the burger they get at local pint was a million times better and a lil cheaper. I got the smothered chicken and It was very disappointing! The chicken was so bland it was like a notch above school cafeteria food (seriously) I swapped the rice for mashed potatoes and they were good (not great but good) and the Brussels sprouts which were really tasty but VERY small Portion for price. I've eaten at incredibly high end steak places that charge the same For a side of sprouts and give you more than double what I got tonight at 1845. The birthday boy got a strip steak and potatoes and he gave each of us a bite. $49 for this steak- a good size- but NO FLAVOR at all. Last but certainly not least- our server was nice enough and attentive HOWEVER he had on the Meta glasses that record people and that made our entire table very uncomfortable. My son said he had seen tik tok accounts where waiters record their patrons and post it! (Not saying he was but it definitely changed the atmosphere of our dinner) He also seemed notably disappointed and different after we didn't order the $49 appetizer and no alcohol. Visible mood shift but he did remain professional. All in all, we are baffled by the good reviews. And very very surprised at the quality of product and price point considering Marty Bs coffee has AMAZING food quality and pricing and so does the restaurant, just doesn't seem to be translating to the other establishments. :-(
