It is so unfortunate that during our buying experience, the sellers had decided to go with Old Republic Title Company, we worked specifically with Jennifer Tropila. Communication throughout the entire escrow process was stressful. Considering that we were first time buyers, we had hoped for agents to explain things to us in a more thorough manner. It was hard to get all questions answered via email and when we requested phone calls, answers were short and curt. Jennifer never explained the entire process to us and dates kept being changed without our consent. I was more than glad when we finished the process to be done with the communication. At our signing, another agent told us that our first payment was due 11/1. We confirmed with Jennifer because we had believed it to be 10/1 and not an entire month later. She confirmed, yes, first payment isn't due until 11/1. Surely enough, we just received our first bill with a due date of 10/1. When I reached out to Jennifer to ask how this error occurred, she simply said "sorry, I misspoke". Perhaps she should have double checked when I first asked for clarification because the date didn't seen accurate. Overall, very unprofessional, pays little attention to detail, and poor communication will only add more strain to this already stressful process. If you are a buyer, we only learned now that you can choose your own title company. Go with someone else if your seller is trying to use them! read more

Sue and Christin never get the seller's loan docs ready to payoff for closing until the last minute, while the buyer's loan almost expired, and the listing agent had to get up 5am to drop off the documents to avoid the transaction falling apart. They ignored my emails and didn't answer the phone to update the closing status. i will no longer use them again. read more

Jennifer Thayer was our title officer and was extremely unhelpful throughout the process. Both myself and my lending company found it impossible to get a hold of her by phone, as she would not answer (despite repeated attempts over several weeks) and would only respond to voicemails by e-mail despite repeated requests to *call* back. Her lack of communication directly led to us losing out on several days of moving time when we were on a fairly tight schedule. When a request to fund our loan was brought up, she claimed it would not be necessary until next week. Myself, my buyer's agent, the seller's agent, and my lending agent pointed out that we had scheduled to close the previous week. Her response was to blame us for a lack of notification of closing on that date, except she had both requested the final transfer and helped schedule the signing of the closing documents, so she had ample awareness of closing. On the day of closing, our buyer's agent attempted to expedite the process and deliver the documents from the notary. They were informed by Jennifer the documents had already been submitted to FedEx for delivery and would not be available until the next day. Our agent contacted the notary directly and determined they had not been submitted to FedEx yet, and a courier was scheduled with her management. Unfortunately, these delays led to us missing the cutoff time for loan funding, requiring us to wait until the following week to receive keys and begin moving. Overall, our experience with her was by far the most frustrating and aggravating part of our home buying experience. read more

As a first time home buyer, Christine was very helpful in fielding any questions we had. We were working with sellers who were pushing for us to close before the 30 days (not sure if that's even legal, but you know, when sellers are threatening to pull out, you do whatever the hell they want). Christine helped us have a very smooth closing escrow process despite the stress of closing on a deadline. During the signing, she was really clear about all of the details about the contract and let us know when payments were due and the like. We had just the worst experience with Myeisha Green dropping the ball daily as we were on the last days of getting our loan. Then she charged us a "messenger fee" for a co-worker coming to get documents that SHE forgot to ask for. And we got a bill for a FedEx overnight delivery because once again, she forgot something that was impereative. I wish we had had the time to search for another company. We have participated in many real estate transactions and were appalled by the lack of professionalism and accuracy shown by Old Republic Title. Closing statements were incorrect, or not completed and we almost lost our exchange property due to Christine's lack of follow up. I would NEVER use Old Republic again! read more

First, I have limited experience with title companies; unfortunately, I'm not a real estate mogul. But my wife and I did have an excellent experience dealing with Old Republic and our escrow officer, Christine, when we bought our home earlier this year. Christine was professional and knowledgeable, and she seemed to be very experienced in her area of work. The closing process is inevitably stressful for most of us, and Christine made herself accessible by phone and email. OCD me, I had had to reach out to her several times with questions on the closing process, and she explained what I wanted to know in a patient way. In the end, she even helped me get on my bank so they would expedite our closing documents and enable my wife and I to close on the date we wanted. At the signing, Christine was well prepared and made the signing process as painless as I can imagine (though there were still a lot of signatures, hand cramp). The last statement we received of all the costs was also accurate, matching what we eventually paid for everything, though I'm unsure whether this was to the credit of the bank or the title company. In all, I'm sure the closing process for a pair of first-time buyers could have been much, much worse, and we're very happy it was not. read more
