Glad to see another restaurant downtown but honestly I was disappointed. We had the mushroom pizza and margharita pizza. Pizza was good...not outstanding...not incredibly delicious. ..just good. The one thing I could not get over was the margharita pizza had 3 little pieces of basil on top. Really ridiculous. One of our pizzas came out after we ate the other...very late. My fiancée and I are big fans of Pies and Pints at the Greene Towne Center, so we were thrilled to come across pizza as good as theirs and much better than we've made ourselves. The pizza dough had very clearly been set out to develop flavor. You can tell when forethought is put into a dough by the way it cooks. There are many places in the area that make a dough, throw it on a pan, and cook it right away. They are doing it wrong. That alone is impressive enough, but the rest of the pizza was fantastic as well. We ordered a white pizza. The cheese was obviously fresh cheese (you can taste the difference) and it was proportional to the dough. 5/5 for the pizza. However, I don't want to sit with people I don't know. The interior reminded me of a cafeteria, with big tables and not really anywhere for two people to sit and enjoy themselves. Good place to take a group. Maybe not the best place to take a date. There was a line backed up to the door so when we entered we were standing in the doorway. In the cold. So that wasn't.. great. Not to mention their pizza only comes in 12 inch pies. Really? I will donate bigger pans to y'all if that's what's holding you back. But overall, the pizza was fantastic and reasonably priced. I'd charge more for it, honestly, because it is actual quality. Omg! If you love fresh, amazing pizza - look no further. We came here today and got the Dayton, which is homemade red sauce with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni on freshly made crust. Along with two drinks the total came to $16 which is really cheap for the quality you're getting. The pizza was perfect with just the right amount of sauce, and lots of cheese and pepperoni. The atmosphere is minimalistic and modern, which gives it a nice clean feeling. It was also nice to see all ages here - from small children to senior citizens. Staff was also friendly and prompt with service. They also have many different craft beers on tap. Overall a wonderful addition to Dayton!!! read more

Our first time at Old Scratch. Not our last! Very good food. We got a variety of their white pizzas and one with red sauce. The dough is perfectly chewy and crispy from their wood ovens. Hands down the best pizza in Dayton. The crust is the perfect chewy yet crisp texture. We have tried almost every red pizza and cannot pick a favorite because they are all so good! I also enjoyed that they have large picnic like tables and open space to be able to accommodate large families but also smaller parties. Sooo...good food, at the time (6pm) on a Friday - easy in-easy out, decent menu selection and choice of craft beers (others - not thiers). If your looking for a spot to try with friends and family - great place, maybe even a first date kinda thing....but, if your looking for an intimate, low key and quite dining experience. ..not the place for you. Old Scratch is good food, a solid selection of beers, GF options as I understand, and a comfortable environment. I don't think it's any better or worse than any other wood fired pizza I've had, and they may be a victim of their own success, because getting a table is legendarily difficult, but that only speaks to how much folks love this place. It's set up in a location just outside of downtown that I never would have expected to work, but they command great crowds in spite of it (through creatively expanding their parking options). I'm a boring pizza person so I get the Dayton--an ordinary but perfectly executed pepperoni pizza. If that's your thing, you'll love it too I'm sure. read more

Happened upon this place on a trip to Dayton for WGI. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a very sweet young woman who was more than happy to fill us in on the ins and outs of this trendy little spot. We sat at the bar and we're helped by an excellent waitress ( unfortunately I don't remember her name). But she took time to give us samples of their different drink options and actually got to know us. She was extremely nice and helpful. We had the appetizer special that evening which was roasted asparagus (amazing!) and then we had one pizza from each category (red and white) we had the shroom and the angry beekeeper which were both amazing.
