This is the kind of place Dayton needs - amazing food, great casual community atmosphere, and charitable giving. Coming from years of living in New York City I can attest that this is some seriously great quality pizza. The Neopolitan style pizza has creative and delicious toppings, but the vegetable side dishes are also not to be missed. The eggplant with whipped basil goat cheese is seriously one of the best things I've had in a long time and I desperately want the recipe. The Stracciatella is also delicious and transported me back to Italy. When I'm in Dayton this will stay on my list of top places to visit. Thanks for being part of the renewal of the city. read more

I can't say enough positive words about my experience at OSP. Upon entering, we were greeted by an upbeat, friendly staff, who genuinely enjoyed doing their job. We had a seamless experience overall. We had the Sophie Mae, Elliot, arugula/prosciutto, Brussel Crowe (daily special), and ceasar salad. All of the pizzas were full of flavor and not like pizza I have had anywhere else. I could have sat and ate their pizza all day long, but I had to force self control on myself. We also had bloody Mary's, which had the most perfect mix. The classic French 75 was also perfectly concocted and extremely refreshing. We were approached by multiple staff members to ensure we were having a great experience. Again, the staff here is very friendly, which is so nice to see. I would recommend OSP to everyone: families, teenagers, college students, young professionals, couples. Lots of pizza places opening up lately in the Dayton area and they all have good toppings and ingredients to put on your pizza but if your crust is sub par then so is your pizza. Old Scratch Pizza or OSP as the kids say these days has it all. The dough is crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Great food, great beer selection, great atmosphere. My whole family enjoyed it and we range from 37 to 2 1/2 in age so that's saying something. We will return soon. The pizza is way overpriced for what it is. A $13 pizza didnt fill me up. The crust was bland and the toppings werent great either. My roommate asked to add a topping to his pizza and they refused to do it (really???). Its a cool space, which is why I gave it two stars. Great spot to take kids! My 2 year old loves watching the pizza being made and on our most recent visit an employee gave her her own little ball of dough to play with. Get the Olympus salad and the Brussell Crowe pizza and you won't be sorry. The whole cauliflower is also tasty. read more

To start, stand in line to make your order, take a number then sit in the long shared wooden picnic tables and wait for sublime perfection. Really dress down but groovy nonetheless. Pizza was delicious, the crust had that thin smoky flavor and consistency given the quality of a real pizza oven. My favorite pizza, the prosciutto with arugula. Secret to eat this pizza is to fold it! The salty quality of the prosciutto and cheese with cold dressed arugula on top set up a whole symphony of complimentary flavors - salty meat, sweet bitter arugula in a light sour vinegar and oil dressing, competing temperatures - hot pizza cold salad and complementary textures that just worked with cheesey goodness against light cold soft crunch of arugula that gave in to your bite. This is my second time in!!! I am down with OSP. The food service is fast and I love that. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the bar tenders banter with other people he is bat shit crazy in the best way possible. I love my bartender to have character and be able talk about anything. Last time I was there my review reflected employees seemed really stressed I am happy to say every employee was smiling and having a good time from those who dropped the food and those cooking in the pizza ovens. They are nailing it. The Dayton Pizza was excellent I was only going to eat half and now I hate myself for eating the whole thing!!! Delicious wood fired pizzas, unique sides (e.g., roasted cauliflower), great bar and good beer selection. I've been there maybe 6 times and have never been disappointed. HOWEVER, when the house is more than half full the dining room is very noisy because of the open/industrial design. Also, the wait for food (after ordering) can be quite long (more than 30 mins) if there is a crowd. The picnic table seating is a bit uncomfortable but I actually like the community feel. read more
