Several co-workers and I went for lunch, I had the Shroom, which was very good, the toppings were very good and the crust was wonderful. The service was interesting, as you order at the counter and receive a number for delivery of your pizza to your table...and if you want a beer, etc. it is a separate order, but since it was lunch, that is for another day...food was delivered quite quickly and we were able to get in and out in our allotted time...will be back to try it again. read more

Best pizza place in Dayton, and maybe even in Ohio. These guys do pizza right, the way it's meant to be enjoyed. Their dough is from Italy and their tomatoes are free of citric acid additives which gives the red sauce the most authentic flavor possible. The pizza is cooking over a wood burning fire. I have had every pizza on their menu and I love all of them, but the Margherita (classic Italian style pizza) is my hands down favorite. With all of the craft beer selections on tap, I promise, you won't want to leave. And when you do leave, you'll want to come right back! Cheers guys, keep doing what you do. read more

I went with a group having a Christmas gathering. We were asked to do the buffet instead of ordering from the menu. It included drinks, pizza, salad, and tip so that part was good. The bad part was that even though we were told our food would be ready to go in a few minutes it was another hour before it actually got to the serving area. The salad was good (if you like creamy Italian dressing) but the pizza toppings were skimpy at best. The pepperoni pizza had about one piece per slice and the mushroom, garlic wasn't much better. I did like the taste of the olive oil, garlic, Parmesan combination but I wouldn't go out of my way to return there. read more

This place has a great atmosphere! Good service, friendly staff! The beer choices are good and they have a great menu. I have been here 3 times. The real only complaint that I have is that there Pizza has been under cooked each time I have been there leaving the pizza slice very droopy towards the end of the slice. The food was entirely over priced and tasted horrible. I got one topping of a vegetable to add on a cheese pizza and the topping cost me $2. They barely sprinkled the pizza with the topping. All in all, I paid $15 for a pizza that wasn't good with limited (yet very expensive) toppings for a barely a pinch of it. Other good pizza places have a "Build Your Own Pizza." Yet at this place, if you didn't like their already made pizzas, you had to settle for the Cheese pizza (already $9.50) and add on the toppings at a VERY high price ($1.50 - $3). The topping price is a huge deal, especially when you're shorted of it. I think they're going for the "casual scenery yet high-quality taste" feel. Went on a Saturday night, about a month after the place opened. Large spacious dining room with a casual atmosphere. The steps: Order your pizza, grab a drink, & they bring your food out to you. There is plenty of seating at the place as you dine on picnic tables. The beer selection is top notch...many local beers are featured such as Yellow Springs, Toxic, & Warped Wing. Try the meatballs as an app! They are delicious, taste like moms and come with house made bread. Our two favorite pizzas that we have tried so far: the Dayton as well as The Shroom. The Dayton Pizza is a straight pepperoni pizza that is incredible! We absolutely love the way the pepperoni curls up. Mushrooms are one of our favorite pizza ingredients which meant we had to try the Shroom pizza! This vegetarian option includes olive oil, wood-roasted mushrooms, cheese, & truffle oil. Amazing pizza! I can't believe I haven't found this place sooner, I absolutely loved the spicy pepperoni pizza with the hot honey, it was fantastic! Love that they also have lunch sizes for some pizzas as well, definitely great if you can't finish an entire regular pizza. Having tried Neapolitan pizza for the first time at Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, the bar was set pretty high for me before coming to Old Scratch. And though I can't say they are the best Neapolitan Pizza in the country, I can say they are one of the best pizza options in Dayton. Been to Old Scratch 4 times now and never disappointed. This is a true Italian Neapolitan style pizza and it's excellent . We always get the simpler pizzas, Margarita, Romano. The simple toppings allows you to really enjoy the excellent crust, just like it should be. Also love the craft beer selection. Beware though, they are very popular on the weekends and the 5:30-7:30 rush can cause some long waits, but having a beer or two while waiting in line makes it tolerable, and a great pizza is always worth the wait. Date night at Old Scratch Pizza. Went there first the first time on 8/26/17. Really good pizza. I always go for the basic pizza before I try their specialties. Pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage. I figure that they need to get this right first before I try something else. A little on the high side (price). They charged me $2 per item for what equates to a medium size pizza.My wife had the spicy honey pizza and loved it. Ate it for breakfast the next morning. She loved the spicy margarita, however, the $9 charge for the little drink was a bit much. Overall, it was a nice evening and we will be back. read more

Cashier was exceptionally helpful in explaining the menu and making recommendations and choices, it being our first time there. Apparently, if you want to use your own vegan cheese, feel free to bring it in for them to use. I thought that was accommodating. Fresh ingredients and a healthy selection of beer. Atmosphere was very enjoyable, great place for a date night, whole family, or group of friends and the service was extremely kind.
