Ordering is easy--no frills--and the person who took our order was lovely. Service was quick so this would be a great lunch spot if you like fresh food but have limited time. You order at the counter. We ordered three different pizzas: the Elliot, the Sophie Mae and the Angry Bee Keeper. All three were delicious. I did not taste the Angry Bee Keeper because I don't eat spicy food but my husband and son liked it. The room is large and since it was a beautiful day it was open to the outside patio. The crust was crispy and perfect. Toppings were plentiful. Staff circulated and kept everything very clean. We did go for lunch and so it ain't as busy. I hear it's crowded on the weekend. read more

Easily some of the best pizza I've ever had. We had the deluxe and the pepperoni as well as the margarita and all three were delicious pizzas. The side ceasar salad was incredibly good and so was the cauliflower. WOW. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon following a visit to the US national air force museum. It was super busy but we found room for four of us in a few minutes. We'd make the trek over to Dayton again to get some of this pizza. God it was good. read more

Old scratch pizza is a good choice for pizza near downtown dayton. It has a busy vibe - even on weekdays. It's open pretty late too for Dayton - 9pm on weekdays. The pizza style is kind of like a neapolitan style pizza with the thick outer crust, thin inner crust, and tomato+mozz balls. I like the new spins on the flavors of these pizzas. I got the angry beekeeper pizza which has a drizzle of a sweet honey sauce. I think the sauce adds a lot to the pizza. I really liked the taste of it. All toppings seemed fresh. I believe I have also gotten the meat pizza which was good. There are also some other interesting pizza flavors. The only thing about this pizza which was kind of weird was the consistency of the dough on the inside. I felt like the dough in the middle was just a little bit too undercooked - it became a floppy pizza. I prefer it to be a little bit crispier. I also wish the sauce was more generous. Best vegan pizza I have ever had! I have a chronic disease that keeps me from eating certain chemicals along with all dairy. The service was awesome! I asked to see the ingredients for the cheeses used and they let me see the bag of cheese and it's nutritional/ingredient info! Anyways, back the the food: The pizza was beautifully cooked with amazing leoparding on the crust! The sauce and vegan cheese came together perfectly to form a consistent but complex flavor! The vibe in here is amazing! There are long tables with benches and 4 person tables with metal chairs. The lighting is smooth and chill, which I enjoy. My cousin suggested this local pizza place for lunch. The restaurant is casual, with good wood fired pizza as well as salads and beer. Seating is self arranged. You order at the counter, are given a number sign, and they bring over the order as it is ready. Seating is various lengths of picnic style tables. We ordered as a group: a couple of salads, roasted cauliflower and a few pizzas. Everything was better than average. The salads had more veggies than other restaurant salads, and the dressing appeared to be made in house. I'm usually not a huge fan of cauliflower but I liked this version, theirs was well seasoned and roasted with a romanesco sauce. We had some Margherita pies and a Brooklyn. Old Scratch is wonderful. Talk to any local or long term resident of Dayton, and Old Scratch be included as a must try restaurant. Their pizza is a neapolitan style pizza with several unique and delicious flavors. The Angry Beekeeper is my favorite and includes: fresh mozzarella, basil, spicy salami, and house-made honey. The contrast between the sweet and spicy is fantastic. I can't believe I'm saying this but... they also have delicious salads (I'm not a salad person, but even I crave their applewood bacon ranch salad). Despite the usual crowds that frequent this restaurant, their workers are quick to bring your food. You sit at the picnic table style seating. Our kids love the "free" soft serve ice cream. I say free because they won't directly ask you for money when you order one, but you are encouraged to donate to Cones for a Cause in exchange. It is a great place to go for almost any occasion. We all got different ones to share: I got Prosciutto arugula (a white pizza with exactly what it says it has), my older sis got the Shroom, my other friends got the Margherita, and Angry Beekeeper. It was all very good! I was stuffed after about 5 slices. It's socially distanced in here. Just a few tables. It was raining but they do have outdoor seating. What's not to love about old scratch pizza?! I love to go to the Patterson restaurant as it's OG and the ambiance is pleasing. I've eaten at the tables, outside, and I have also eaten at the bar and all three places are great. The only negative is sometimes it can get very loud when it's busy. The service is outstanding I like how you order when you first walk in and then take a seat and I like how the drink order is separate at the bar. After multiple people recommending Old Scratch Pizza, I had to try it. The inside of the restaurant had a very industrial feel. You order pizza at the counter and then if you want a beer, you order it right next to the front counter at the bar. I thought this was an odd setup, but didn't have any big issue with it. Their pizza menu is pretty unique, but also have the traditional cheese or pepperoni. The pizza I ordered was the Sophie Mae, which one of their white pizzas with red onion jam, applewood-smoked bacon, fresh mozzarella, romano. All of their pizzas come in 12" pies. I would say that overall, my pizza was good and the ingredients seemed pretty fresh. I felt that the red onion jam was a little too sweet for me and wish it was a little more onion-y than jam-y. They have a pretty good selection of local and imported beers and a menu of signature cocktails. I ordered the Seventh Son Lemongrass Wit, which was really really good. It was a very light and refreshing beer that I feel would be a good one to drink at the pool on a summer day. I'd come back, but probably order one of the more traditional pizzas and see how that stacks up to others that I've had. read more
