I like this place. It's a bit pricey but they give a lot of food. I would rather have less food for a price point of $10 like on their lunch menu. Two people could easily share a dinner meal though. They serve it in a serving dish and give you a plate with only rice on it. The service is great. You press a button when you are ready to order so, unlike other restaurants, the waiter doesn't have to play a guessing game and the patron doesn't have to wait when he or she is ready to order. There is a young male waiter who is very attentive but not intrusive. The water never gets low and it's nice to not be interrupted repeatedly by being asked if everything is alright. The restaurant is nice and quiet too. My only wish is that they had cloth napkins. read more

I went here yesterday (Sunday) and got take out. I ordered a noodle dish which was kind of soupy. It tasted and felt very old. The noodles were all stuck together like when noodle are boiled and dry up and they stick together also there were little tiny bits of noodle (like the last of the noodles) it looks like they were to lazy to cook fresh noodles. The red curry smelt AWFUL. I'm not sure how it's suppose to smell because my husband is the one who eats it not me but it literally smells like feet. However the Thai iced tea is great but not as good as a Thai restaurant back in Georgia. read more

Chris: I moved to Jacksonville about a year ago from Berkeley, CA. There has to be 20+ Thai restaurants in Berkeley many of which are extremely delicious. Me and my wife finally got around to eating here yesterday and it was so good! It's even on par with some of the Thai places in Berkeley. The atmosphere inside was classy and very authentic with instrumental Thai music playing in the background (great place for dates!). The servers were dressed in authentic Thai dress and were very polite. The only thing that wasn't the best was the complimentary mushroom soup, it was bland, but hey it was free. We ordered (and I recommend) Thai Iced Tea, Chicken Satay, Pad Thai, Green Curry with Chicken, and for dessert the Mango and Sticky Rice. The Chicken Satay presentation is awesome! They bring out this big plate with a little grill with fire in it to keep the chicken hot. This was very fun to eat with. Jessica: I have lived in Jacksonville my whole life and regret this being the first time I've been there.I've wanted to try it for a very long time but never could interest anyone to go with me. I had a delicious meal and outstanding service tonight at Old Siam. The menu was extensive, but with a service call button on every table, you don't feel pressured to rush through all of the yummy menu options. Each menu option is described in perfect detail, so you can be assured you know exactly what comes with your meal. They even allow you to choose the intensity of spiciness, from no spicy all the way to Thai hot. I am a Texas Pete lover and ordered my meal "hot" and felt completely satisfied with the level of spice. I love how they serve everyone at the table ice water and hot towels for hand cleansing when first seated. The traditional Thailand atmosphere is appreciated and lends itself well to the entire Thai dining experience. This is definitely going to become a new favorite spot. And with a menu so vast, it'll be a foodie adventure to try a new dish each visit. The health inspection rating thankfully went up to a 94 from the gross 83 it used to be. My Spicy Basil Fried Rice was still really good and my kid's Chicken Fried Rice was good too. There was a gnat floating on the top of my Tom Yum Gai soup, but that can happen anywhere. I'll be back. read more

The service was very good. They were attentive and accurate in the service provided. We ordered the Mai Tai and the Crispy Duck. Both were terrible. The seafood in the Mai Tai, specifically the scallops, tasted spoiled and we did not eat more than the first bite. The server was extremely polite and offered to correct the problem, but we declined due to the amount of food the duck provided. The duck smelled like sweaty feet when it came out and thankfully tasted slightly better than it smelled. We would give the restaurant a second shot, but would order something different from the large selection the menu offered. read more

This place is excellent! The food is awesome and has such a huge variety that it's hard to choose. However, I do have a usual...the Chicken Pad Thai. It is the best. I think my favorite part is the ground up peanuts that top the dish. I've also tried the Spicy Basil Rice and a curry dish or two. My coworkers also frequent the Old Siam and I've never heard any complaints from them either. The staff is very friendly and love to heckle you when you order your dish "Thai Hot" or "5 Stars" (which I almost always do). Each mean the same thing; the hottest option they offer and you can get any dish Thai Hot. And to top it off, you get a nice square butter mint at the end of your meal to cool your tounge. read more

Love this place! I've been here several times and everytime has been great. I love the curry it's amazing! The staff is very helpful and if you come enough they will give you free soup which is great. I love getting the Thai tea it is perfect. It's a little pricy but def worth the extra money. From the outside it doesn't look so appealing but once you try the food you will def be back. They have so many options to chose from but ever since I've tried the Panang curry, that's the only thing I'll get. They have great appetizers as well. So I'm from out of town and I was looking for some Thai food and based on yelp reviews decided on this one. When I placed my order for takeout the reception asked me for my phone # which was clearly NOT a local #. My wife and I ordered spring rolls (salty), shrimp fried rice (comes with raw onions on top???) but okay, and pad se ew with beef (almost inedible), anyway get to our hotel with our takeout and guess what....no eating utensils!!!! Call the restaurant and waitress tells me that In NC, one has to "ask" for a fork with your takeout. I reminded her that my phone # was out of state and take out should ALWAYS come with eating utensils, that's why it's take out. Anyway, the food is ehh, and the service sucks. First time there. Terrible TERRIBLE experience. I walked in and was standing there for 10 minutes before anyone noticed I had come in. I rang the bell twice and no one came. They came to drop something off up front and finally seated me. After that she told me to press the button when I was ready and she would come take my order. I pressed the button and waited another 10 minutes before she returned. I told her I wanted the pad Thai and she brought me something that smelled like a mix of fish and the horse stalls at the county fair. I confirmed that this was pad Thai because it didn't look like it. And she argued with me and said no, you didn't order the pad Thai. Which I know is untrue, because I've never had anything but pad Thai at a Thai restaurant. So I wouldn't even know the names of anything else to "accidentally" say the wrong thing. She didn't offer to remake it, she just said "I'm sorry" and walked away. I tried a bite of it and it was not good. She came back with a box and I said I wouldn't need one (despite not having eaten any) when she asked if I was sure I didn't want to take it home, I said I wouldn't be eating any more of it, and that I would like the pad Thai that I ordered. She again said "I'm sorry" then brought me my check and they charged me the full $17 for this dish I didn't ask for and didn't eat. I was over dealing with it at that point, paid my bill, and left. Terrible service! Poor customer management! And frankly a rather filthy establishment. I could have been a regular customer as I just moved here but I will be going elsewhere! read more

I was severely disappointed by this restaurant. I went to the restaurant based on good reviews. The food was subpar at best, and our waitress had a hard time communicating. I ordered a ginger ale and received a mello yello/lemonade concoction that tasted awful. I ordered the Thai Phai Phoo Chicken and it was tasteless and greasy.
