My visit to Home Depot this morning was like walking amongst the Zombie Apocalypse of employees. Deer in the headlights when I asked the first male employee that was manning a checkout station. I was looking for a hand held air compressor for my bicycle. Simple, right? Guy just blank stared me. I had to really engage with his eyes to get him to snap out of it and meagerly almost begrudgingly assist me. Didn't feel good. He told me the bay it could he found in. I found the compressor and almost purchased it but spotted on the packaging that it was tool only, no battery or charger. I tracked down another employee that equally looked miserably and uninterested to ask about where I might find battery and charger associated with the compressor. He directed me to customer service. Apparently this is where the batteries are housed. I stood in line with customer service for some time only to he told nope, aisle 12. I told him I was told that they were held behind lock and key at customer service. He looked like I'd cut off an appendage and miserably went behind a wall only to return and tell me he doesn't have what I'm looking for. He directed me to aisle 12 and at this point I asked if I could get someone to actually show me where they are. Since these are also under lock and key, I'd need someone to help me that had access. Again, ennui... I travelled through the store looking for aisle 12. Stood there I front of locked cases for 10 minutes, waiting for customer service and I use that term loosely. No one ever showed up and at this point, all of the other serendipitous items I had accumulated in my cart while searching for what I actually came in for were abandoned. I left Home Depot extremely disappointed with the incredibly unpleasant experience in (lack of) customer service I received from this store. I will never return to Home Depot. Not ONE employee I encountered looked like they happy to be at work today. Terrible! read more

I love having this depot in damonte. It's just 5 minutes from my house and I'm literally there so often over the past two years, I feel like I know the black manager personally. He is THE NICEST. I hope he stays forever. I have to give depot a good shout out for their plant return policy. I bought 800$ of plants from Moana nursery a few years ago and even had them plant them for me, just so these things would for sure grow well. Nope, and when 11 months were up, and the plants mostly dead, they didn't replace them. -- when I buy plants at depot they are so good about returns for dying plants. I will only get plants from depot now. The last time I was there they had pulled all their plants inside becuase it was 8:45pm and I guess it was going to freeze that night, so I really wasn't able to get to the plants I wanted to buy and had to come back the next day. Not a big deal, it I'm glad I didn't travel far for that. read more

Quality/Quantity - Good. My favorite of the Home Depots in Reno. Mainly because there are not that many customers, lol. Atmosphere - Giant home improvement warehouse with the best prices. Seemed like only the locals shop here. Not too busy, which is perfect for me. I like easy in and out. Plenty of parking. Convenient to the other businesses I shop - Safeway, Office Depot and of course, Starbucks. Service - Self service - Do not depend on HD to have people help you, this is really meant for DIY people. Although I have noticed recently, service is improving. Thank you. If you want more service, go to Lowes. If you want even better service, go to Ace Hardware or a local hardware store. When you finally get an employee, they are usually very nice and good. Their online ordering and pick up is 5 stars, especially for the locations that have self service lockers. Came in here yesterday to buy some paint and paint stripper. There was no one in the paint area for assistance. An elder lady was also looking for assistance in the paint area. I had the paint stripper in my cart. I ended up just leaving my cart there and going to Walmart instead. There's a bunch of goof balls that work at Walmart, but guess what? There was assistance at their paint department and it was a little cheaper there too. Home Depot is hit and miss with their customer service. read more

Went in to buy a Kohler Toilet for the new house. It was in the box and super heavy. The only person that helped us was a small gal, Alyssa. She was a real trooper and helped start to finish. My husband has a bad should that happened during our move but he was able to lift it with her to the flat cart. Before that she asked a group of robust men to help and all they could say was "get Sandy". So she stopped another few men and no one wanted to help. I felt bad she had to help us with such a heavy item. She took it to the register and got another young man at the door to walk to car and help load it into the SUV. It just felt no one wanted to help her. Alyssa was wonderful and stronger than she looked. But men not willing to help, that is not helpful to anyone. We were there 1pm or so on Wednesday the 9/10/25. I hope the manager gives her a big kudos for being a good employee who helps the customer, start to finish. read more

My husband needs a handicap cart in order to shop. The staff of the Home Depot on Steamboat Parkway (which is convenient to our home) could care less about this long-time customer. If we go early in order to use the one and only handicap cart they bother to supply, the darn thing is almost guaranteed not to be charged and has a perilously low battery. We will never shop in this store again, even though it is close to home. We are forced to go to the more distant Home Depot on S. Virginia street where at least we can be assured of an available handicap cart. read more

It seems rather hit or miss coming here. After wandering around a bit looking for someone to help, I finally found someone and he was great. He walked me across three different departments to get what I needed. When Home Depot did not have one of the parts, he suggested a few other specialty places to try. Once you get someone to help the employees seem friendly, it just seems like there are not enough of them so it can be challenging to find someone. read more

Cannot even express just how disappointed I am with the South Reno Home Depot. In early June I placed two separate orders for custom doors. Two different vendors. One order was delayed. I had to follow up multiple times to get ETA information. Due to the delay, I missed my opportunity with my installation crew and am still trying to get that worked out. 2nd order. I'm still waiting for those doors to come in. No one can find the original door that was ordered. After repeated attempts to get information, it was determined that the manufacturer never sent it.... They put a new order in that was to be expedited and here on September 14th. Shocker, no call or information. I reached out twice and did get a response from Jay who did follow up as he had promised, thank you Jay. Unfortunately, not good news. So much for expediting the order. It's not expected until mid October. I obviously have no confidence it will be here when they say as none of my orders have up to this point. They have done fine with off the shelf orders but don't expect anything custom to make it to you timely. I see a response from HD, unfortunately the link provided just goes to their website, no form or anything to fill in or provide details of the situation. read more

I paid for a New Jeldwen front door in April 2025. The cost included installation. I never got installed until late July. The installers did a very sloppy job. I have complained about this over and over again and nothing has been done to correct the mess they left. Turns out there is only one installation company for all of Reno and Sparks, NV. They can't be trusted to to this correctly and neatly. I will never trust Home Depot again. read more

Unfortunately this evening was not a positive visit to the Home Depot near my home. ***Please Read if thinking about buying plants or trees from Home Depot**** The last few months my Spiral Juniper trees have been on the decline, which I purchased from my neighborhood Steamboat parkway store on 10/9/2020. October of last year I happened to be looking at Halloween decor and saw that both trees were 75% off the regular price of $89.00. At the time they looked healthy. I had all the things to make them grow strong. Draining pots, full sun, great soil recommend by HD, fertilizer for acid loving trees, and me because if you know me I am a person who cares greatly for his yard, plants, grass, etc. I also don't write a lot of poor rated reviews but this is deserving. The HD nursery employee who helped me select soil at the time advised me to save my tree tags and receipt in case they needed to be returned or exchanged within the year. A few months ago one of my trees started to get brown tip blight. I sprayed for mites, gave fertilizer, and even called an expert at locally owned Moana Nursery. I followed all of his advice. This week both trees turned brown. I called up the Home Depot store and confirmed the return/ exchange policy. Tonight I rolled in and was greeted by two nice female employees, one at the return desk advising me she could exchange the trees. She advised me to go and pick two new Spiral trees out and so I did. Once back with the new Spirals I was advised that because I bought these trees on sale that Home Depot wouldn't be exchanging the trees....okay....so if I buy a drill on sale and it breaks because of defect I cant get it exchanged? If I buy anything on sale and it's not up to standards I can't exchange it for another new item? Maybe I'm confused. And please let me know if I am confused about this store policy. Shawn the manager came over and provided zero service. Shawn said we can only give you your money back! When I questioned him about soliciting another manager or his boss he told me he is the only current boss. He offered no information for me to contact a different manager at the store...he then walked off. The pictures I have attached of the trees don't really show both trees yet dead as they weren't completely dead at the time of the photo, however they were very dead today. Unfortunately I will no longer be a customer of Home Depot and will be buying my plants and trees from Moana Nursery. I'm fed up with the big box stores that give zero F**ks about us the people AKA the customers that buy stuff from their store. This is why I don't go to Denny's or any other sub par food chain... For anyone thinking about buying trees at HD right now because they are 50% off...that's because they 50% dead and can't be helped! Goodbye Home Depot. read more

Not sure why so many customers feel the need to take their dogs into the store. During this visit, we saw 7 critters. Naturally, the store is otherwise clean and well stocked. This is my local Home Depot location and I've gotta say, they've done a good job keeping up with these COVID times. Early in the pandemic I wasn't the least bit interested in going to the store EVEN though I needed quite a few things for some simple house projects. It seems my concerns were completely unwarranted though, as they really went above and beyond to keep the store safe, clean, and organized for easy and fast transactions. This week I got to check out their curbside pickup. Ordering online was a breeze, and they texted us when the stuff was ready to pick up. When you're there, you just let them know and they come right out and put it in your car. I chose to go in for some other items, and you can also pick up these items at the customer service desk too! At the desk I noticed that they had a sign informing customers that they had limited the hours for returns to limit the number of people in the store. I thought that was particularly cool! Check out the photo. All in all, I think HD is doing a great job an I have no complaints with the store. read more

Bought over $100 of bagged soil and arranged for curb side pickup. App says its ready so I go and park in the last curb side stall. Must be busy with people picking up, I thought. So I waited several minutes and no one came out. I walk in and 5 employees are standing around behind the pickup counter. Plus no one else picking up, which means walk-in customers are parking in the curb side stalls! I walk in and say, excuse me, I have been waiting for curb side pickup. They look at each other and I think the supervisor tells her underling to look at the computer screen. He finds my order and helps me (i took one cart myself). What happened to this place? Maybe too many employees?? I sure was disappointed in the "curb side pickup". If they are going to allow walk-ins to park there then maybe they need to get rid of the signs and so-called "service". read more

By using contractors who can't be reached or asked about what they're actually doing, Home Depot has wasted two full days of my time, advising me to stay home to wait for my delivery. It's not four separate contacts with corporate and the Steamboat store and no one can inform me about when the delivery will appear. Steamboat uses a contractor working with a different Home Depot location to do deliveries around South Reno. They've never shown up on time or anything remotely resembling the agreed upon date. I'm extremely disappointed, but thanks to Hone Depot's loss leading inventory, they've put everyone local out of business. What a garbage company. read more

This Reno Home Depot is the worst! Amy in flooring and blinds is an instigator of chaos. All she wants to do is stir issues up. She starts by getting the customer mildly upset then passes them over to a co-worker to stir it up more then Cliff the manager steps in, after customer is really upset to say "I'm keeping my voice clam, I don't know what your so upset about?" It's a sham. They want to discredit the customer. Although I tried to stay calm myself, it's very hard when you're being played like a fiddle. They intentionally upset their customers. I think they get off by doing so. Don't go to this store. Go to one of the other Home Depot's in Reno. Stay out of the South Reno Store. They mess up your orders intentionally and then blame the customers with all kind of excuses. Only reason I put one star and not zero, is this site makes you put one star. Update: Today I got an email saying I updated my order to include the missing standard valances that are free of charge with the blind order that I didn't receive, but I'm now being charged $53.00 each $106.00 and they also charged me for an additional installation charge of $75.00. All without my permission nor authorization. Wow! This store is out of control. Doing what ever they want. And they wonder why the customers are upset! read more

It's getting into that season where planning for summer projects take hold. That being said, we headed to Home Depots' Steamboat location in Damonte Ranch, Reno, Nevada. My husband went in one direction, I in another. As I was captivated by the middle of an isle garden display, I head a voice from behind the customer service counter speaking to me... The young man said to me, "didn't I help you before in the garden department?" I replied.. I don't think so, I just got here... He said "no, I mean not too long ago." I took a better look at this young man and remembered that he had been the kind and very helpful young man who had helped me choose and load some trees in my truck just before winter hit. Well... his name is "Sam" and he was a most pleasant and helpful young man last winter. As I kept shopping. I found I needed help getting some soil from one end of the store to another, I had just injured my knee and wasn't about to get my own soil as usual, so I asked if he was still working in the garden dept. Sam said no, but he would get me help. In just a couple of minutes, there Sam was, saying, "yes I am able to help you! What do you need?" he said with a big smile! In, I'd say, possibly 6 minutes or so, Sam and another employee walked up, delivered 3 huge square bags of soil all the way from the farthest end of the garden area to the opposite end of the store. They brought the soil all they way to Lumber where my husband was shopping and would be loading up. I thanked them both for bringing the soil all the way to us, then they went back to work. My husband had 2 young men helping him get straight pieces of lumber from a shelf he could barely reach. These 2 young men took their time and quickly sorted through the last of the pile to get what he needed. The project my husband is working on needs very straight pieces of wood. Usually he ends up doing all this by himself, he isn't one to ask for help. To top it off... a young lady at the Pro register had offered her help us as well. As she became busy with other customers, we ended our shopping with a tall young man who worked at one of the the adjacent Lumber registers. He was also nice and very helpful! When shopping in a very large department store I don't expect employees to remember us. This has not happened before, (if so, not acknowledged) even in other cities where we were regular shoppers. So when this young man, Sam, was still working at Home Depot and remembered helping us with several trees and plants, I was actually quite taken by surprise! Thank you Home Depot, Steamboat, for employing very good and hard workers. It may not mean anything to a huge store like Home Depot, but to customers, it's nice to see a familiar helpful face. We want to thank Sam, and all the other employees who helped us Saturday. These young peoples attributes are the kind that customers remember, appreciate and hope to encounter. Thank you to the management who clearly is working on making this store a friendlier, better place to shop! We will definitely be back, we like to frequent places that have the customers bests interests in mind. read more

I ordered a rug on May 2, 2024. Delivery was due May 7, 2024. Did not arrive. I called and was told it would be delivered May 15. Did not arrive. I called to cancel on May 20, 2024. Was left holding the phone for 22 minutes with no operator returning to me so I finally hung up. In addition, the employee, Carmen, was very rude and strident to attempt to deal with. read more

They out source to a company that uses shady looking individuals. They are dirty, poorly dressed & have no ID. They damaged our items and furniture and will not admit they did it. The Home Depot store can't do anything because it is a separate company. The stores hands are tied and the item can't be sent to the store so I can pick it up! if you do have to use for delivery video them the entire time and do not be alone with them!!!! read more

We needed some tile for our backsplash project. The one we selected was metal, stone and glass. We didn't like the stone in them because we thought they were broken (our mistake). We went through 6 boxes of them and talked to the manager. She explained it was the marking in the stone and opened the packaging so we could check. She was absolutely right. I remodeling my house. I come to Home Depot every time I run out of material. I usually go there after work. And every time I go, I met the same lady at the customer service desk. Her name is Alexis. She is a big tall lady. She is fun chat around with her coworker. But anytime I come to ask her help her face turning so mean and angry like I bother her from chatting with her coworker. I try to be nice. "Say hi! How are you? " to her but still she still show a mean face to me and doesn't say anything. I look at her and tell her what I need help on. She have an attitude to me not one, every single time I go them from the first time. I wonder why? I don't know her. Is she treated the other customer like she treated me? Or just me? I just go there to buy material to remodel my house. Everybody else is very nice. Only her is very bad. But unfortunately, every time I go there I always see her at the customer service deck again, that makes me never want to come back them again. My sister so mad when she saw what that lady did to me and she was telling the store manager about what happened. He is a nice guy and he was the one help me with find and put material on my shopping car for me. I didn't know he is the manager there. Thank you very much!!! read more

I have been trying all summer to get a patio umbrella that I ordered on Home Depot.com to be picked up at the South Reno store. It has been delivered to the store twice, both times without any identification on it - no order number, name or address, and was sent back by the store. If a business is going to tout their order online/pick up in store feature, they should know enough to get it right. It's now August and after the second screw-up, I cancelled the order. Use Home Depot pick up in store at your own risk - you may wait 3 weeks and then not get what you ordered. read more

Since COVID, I assume more people are doing home improvement projects, so it's expected that they wouldn't ALWAYS have everything we need, but they do 95% of the time! You can be in and out without any human contact if you use self checkout. Employees are helpful and knowledgeable when needed. Parking is easy, social distancing stickers placed on the floor at the checkout lines, and sanitizing stations at the entrance. Our go-to depot since it's only a few minutes away from home, and they usually have everything we need for our home remodel projects! read more

After waiting several months for appliances to be more readily available, we decided to purchase a dishwasher through the Home Depot. Learning that the delivery would be the following week, we were excited. That was the end of the good times with Home Depot. After waiting for delivery through their four hour window, the rude subcontracted vendor did not install the dishwasher. Looking back at that experience, it's now clear that they didn't know how to install it. The second delivery team who came a full week later took our dishwasher out of our kitchen but would not take it with them. They left the new dishwasher in our garage still boxed and left our kitchen with a hole in it where our dishwasher used to be. (By the way trash companies will not take a dishwasher, so after Home Depot guaranteed they would take our dishwasher, we had to find a different way to transport it out of here. The third crew did not show up, claiming they had the wrong ZIP Code. The fourth crew opened the box in the garage and discovered there was a dent in it. I believe it was the fifth crew who installed a dishwasher that looked great but did not work at all. The sixth crew called us with a delivery window saying that they were on their way within 30 minutes and never showed up. When we called to find out what happened, they claim that they were planning on coming but had not loaded the new dishwasher onto their truck, claiming that they had called "a different phone number" to notify us that they could not deliver. We are now trying to schedule yet another delivery. I'm wondering how many days we should sit home and wait for a dishwasher delivery Home Depot. If you had listed this on the delivery cost, maybe I would've taken my business elsewhere. If this were my business, I would be ashamed and I would try desperately to make it right. But I have seen zero effort to make amends. I gave them one star because it was the lowest possible writing. I believe that they deserve zero stars because I've given them money and received zero dishwashers. read more

Purchased a Ryobi snowblower in Nov 2021, it failed in Jan 2023, was covered by a 5 year warranty so when it failed I contacted Ryobi who indicated HD was the service center I should return it to - I did 20 Jan, it was returned 22 March and had not been repaired. I was told - to bad so sad, it's your problem now. Ryobi indicates I should now ship it at my expense to California. This is totally unacceptable customer service and support of expensive products sold. This is not what Home Depot has stood for and means maybe Lowes is a better option. I am a fan of this Home Depot, and I'm very glad that it is located 1.5 miles from the home that we are renting. My husband and I have purchased so many things here: weed killer, flowers, Christmas wreaths, bulk toilet paper and paper towels, throw rugs, lightbulbs, a shop-vac, power tools for his dad's birthday, and winter hats, to name a few items. We also used their tool rental service to rent a carpet cleaning machine. I have always been pleased with the service that the staff provides, especially because I always ask for it, even if my husband thinks he doesn't need it. Just this past weekend we were looking for clear 40 watt LED lightbulbs but we were seeing only opaque 60 watt LED bulbs. I ask the friendly staff member walking by if they sell 40 watt bulbs, and lo and behold, he sees that the 40 watt bulbs are there on the end of the shelf, partially obscured by a floor display. Thanks, helpful dude! I don't think of myself as a dog person, but I always enjoy seeing other people and their well-behaved dogs in the store. When our out-of-town friends and family asked what we'd like as a wedding present, we said gift cards, and we were very pleased to spend the chunk o change we received in Home Depot gift cards! read more
