One of my favorite places to visit now. The setting, the vibes, the service, the food and of course, the wine.. I couldn't stop saying "mmm". High quality authentic food and wonderful service. We mainly stuck with the food apps since it was late in the night and gosh, it was amazing. Fries were a great thickness and crunch with a yummy dipping sauce. We also got the mac n' cheese and the meat and cheese board which is a must-get. They selected the right portion and options for the board. This is a beautiful hidden gem located in the lower level of the Caffé Molise building on the corner of West Temple and 400 South. I had no idea this place existed until a friend recommended it for dinner. The ambiance of this 100+ year old building is just amazing. BTG obviously has a large selection of wine choices available by the glass plus the option to sample and enjoy a wine flight if you just can't pick one. Several different flights are available on the menu and our server helped guide us to one that matched our tastes. The menu has a mix of light bites, which aren't so light, and a full dinner menu with entrees. Knowing this place is connected to Caffé Molise I knew the food would be amazing. We started off with the eggplant meatballs and the focaccia with Burrata. The meatballs were amazing served in a cream sauce and so tasty it was hard to imagine they were actually eggplant. The focaccia was fresh and warm from the oven with a spread of Burrata is was so tasty too. After these two starters I barely had room for my entree. I selected the butternut ravioli which was served with a brown butter sauce. Absolutely amazing! The flavors just popped and it was a hearty portion which could have easily been split. The service was on par and very attentive. We didn't have room for dessert however there is a nice selection of items on the dessert menu too. Service was horrific. Spent 3 hours there to only get two rounds of drinks the whole time. The server was unhelpful with any suggestions and M.I.A. most of the night. The highlight of the night were the appetizers (French fries, meatballs and prosciutto dates). Entrees came 90 minutes after being seated and was lukewarm and nothing special then literally sat around waiting for the server. She FINALLY dropped off the bill with a complimentary dessert and an apology but at that point we were at our wits end. I've been to BTG Wine Bar twice now, thanks to gift cards they donated to local nonprofit's silent auctions. The first visit had perfect service, second visit took about 25 minutes from being seated to receiving my wine flight - too long, but the rest of service went well. I had the chicken piccata both times and it was delicious & perfectly cooked each time, and a really big portion! My partner tried the burger & enjoyed it, then the pesto shrimp pasta which was great. Servers are knowledgeable about allergy options, and they have gluten-free pasta - even offered that we could order from caffe molise's menu. The restaurant is cozy and not too loud. The place was super cute and surprisingly chill for a Friday night, making it a perfect spot to sit, chat, and catch up. I cannot recommend this place more; it was awesome. I came across BTG Wine bar during a stroll; there was a sign out front for wine flights and I love wine. The outside looks a little sketchy, but I googled it and came across great reviews so I figured I'd try it out. I am SO glad I did. Inside, it's really cute and they had the coolest chandeliers made of wine glasses. I returned for dinner with friends, and very ready to try wine. We chatted with the waiters, and gave them our preferences. They asked us questions, and brought us our flights. I tried some delicious wine! The waiters curated perfect flights for all of our preferences. It was such a great experience. I also ordered the asparagus as an appetizer, and pasta for dessert. I ate everything. Ravioli was flavorful and not too heavy. The meat and cheese board was underwhelming but did have many good flavors (blood orange cheddar cheese!!!) and the portions were good for sharing. The house salad was just ok and felt a little drowned in dressing and seemed lifeless. I was excited to try the dark chocolate cake and while it had excellent flavor it was dry and a bit disappointing. We went to The Sommelier dinner tonight and it was so disappointing. The food was just not good. The first course was a crab cake that had no discernible crab in it . The Prosecco paired with or was yummy. The next course a cauliflower curry with an Orange wine. Both were fine but plating was odd and the curry was just ok. Main course was lamb chops with baba ganoosh. The baba ganoosh was Cold and when we asked they said it warrant to be cold and the lamb was luke warm They took the lamb back to be rewarm but it was not very good. Then we ended with a pana cotta that had no flavor which I suppose was because the wine paired with it was very sweet . I would not go back for another wine dinner here . Food: If you want more options, ask your server if they can provide you with Molise's menu. I got the orecchiette and it was delish! I specifically liked how the Italian sausage wasn't overpoweringly peppery and everything complimented each other. All of our pasta dishes came with a complimentary salad as well. The tiramisu and cheesecake was also yummy. It was my first tiramisu and I'm glad it wasn't overpoweringly espresso-tasting. The cheesecake was light and the crust was my favorite. A little pricey but I would come back for special occasions. Service: Our server was very attentive when taking our orders and accommodating with any substitutions we preferred (we had someone in our party with many allergies). We never felt neglected and food came out in a timely manner despite our party being 8 people. Ambiance: Very cute and quaint. We had our own little "private room" separate from the rest of the restaurant which was perfect as we were celebrating our friend's bachelorette. Other Notes: There's a small parking lot next to the restaurant, but it was full when we arrived. This place is such an amazing spot! Great atmosphere for a date night, girls night and/or celebration! It is located below an Italian restaurant and has indoor and outdoor seating! The entire restaurant is surrounded by windows that look into the street. The wine selection was so diverse and the employees truly knew what they were talking about! I did the Glance at France flight (because I LOVE Chardonnay) - it was so tasty. It came with a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and a Bordeaux blend. The Bordeaux and the Chardonnay were so smooth. We also had the cheese board which came with 5 cheeses, bread, mustard, olives and onions. The variety of cheeses were: cheddar, Gouda, brie, blue cheese and I forget the 5th (because it wasn't our favorite, still good though). I came in towards the end of the night on Thursday Jan 16th, the bartender, Kelly, was very stand-offi'ish. She dropped the menu's for drink and the proceeded to ignore us choosing instead to talk to her girlfriend at the other end of the bar. Haven't been here since it was the Vortex, and if you remember that you probably also remember Port O' Call across the street, fun times! Well this part of town is all grown up now with Gracies, BTG, and Caffe Molise. They have done an amazing job revamping this former dance club. The courtyard is even more beautiful than before and they have a beautiful little wine cellar you can peek into. You can make easy reservations over the phone or via Open Table. There is a huge parking lot right across the street to the East and who doesn't love a little walk Downtown? For cocktails I had the Raspberry Moscato Fizz, it was super refreshing, strong, and also sweet. My friend had the Summer Rain which was equally delicious. They have a super affordable Bar Bites menu but you can also order from the Caffe Molise Menu. For appetizers we ordered off the Bar Bites Menu. We started with the Italian Meatballs and they were delicious. We also really enjoyed the Focaccia with Marinara. The Marinara they served with the Meatballs and Focaccia was amazing. For my main dish I choose the Pappardelle Al Sugo. The sauce was really yummy with lots of chunky meat and topped with some yummy cheese. Our waiter Bradley took great care of us, the Bartender made some awesome drinks, and everyone that was working was super friendly. Can't wait to go back and try a flight. read more

I popped into BTG with a girlfriend on a Sunday evening. I was really excited about their wine flights and luckily, it did not disappoint. We tried several of the flights and some of the food - here's an overview: Wine: European red wine flight - highly recommend! If you like your reds dry and a little funky, this is the way to go. Pinot Evil - such a cute name, right? Great pinots here, we ended up ordering a couple of these as glasses too. Orange wine flight - I'd never had orange wine and I was surprised that I like 2 of the 3. My fave was the orange wine from Slovenia...who knew? Food: Eggplant meatballs - this was the only real fail here...neither of us were a fan - and we both LOVE eggplant and meatballs. They were very dry, but in general, just not that tasty. Cheese board - excellent selection, I ate way more cheese than I normally would! The bread was VERY mediocre though. It was basic white baguette and didn't taste fresh - it felt very processed. Prosciutto dates - delicious with the almond in the center, albeit a bit greasy. Garlic shrimp - same here, very good albeit a little oily. Focaccia - 6.5/10, nothing to write home about, we probably should have ordered it with the burrata. read more

The only disappointment I have is the cost of all of it feels very expensive, but the experience itself here is great. If nothing else stop in and try one of the flights. They are so fun to try. I've decided to update my review to reflect some more recent experiences here. We've worked our way around a good portion of the menu at this point and in general, the food is decent with a few items that are really great (like the eggplant meatballs!). If you are avoiding gluten, they have a few options on the menu, including the ability to substitute gluten-free noodles in the pasta dishes (excluding the more "prepared" pasta like ravioli or lasagna). It's not great gluten-free pasta (the noodles fell apart too easily, though maybe it hadn't been cooked properly), but it was nice to still have the option. Sadly, the eggplant meatballs are made with breadcrumbs so you will have to skip those if gluten-sensitive. The cheese board wasn't particularly special- the cheeses were fairly basic aside from a soft cheddar with chives that tasted amazing. It also comes with some salted nuts, olives, caramelized onions (they have pickled veggies listed on the menu, but it seems like they either changed it or ran out on the day we ordered), and crostini. I would personally avoid ordering the brick chicken as it was overly sweet when I last had it. As for ambiance, they usually have had the lights dimmed which makes for a nice, intimate setting and I think it encourages people to be a bit quieter. However, our last visit felt more casual and loud with the lighting seemingly turned up all the way. It wasn't too bad, but it also wasn't what we were expecting when we originally made the reservations. It also didn't help that there was a large group sitting behind us constantly raising their voices, but my annoyance might just be a function of not being used to large crowds after a year of quarantine! The table service here has been friendly. That said, we did have to wait over 50 minutes to get our food during our last visit as the kitchen was backed up. The waitress brought out two complimentary rolls after about a half hour, but it was still frustrating. This was the first time we'd ever had to wait that long coming here, so I'm not putting too much weight on it for now. read more

Decided to try this place on a whim after a nice fall hike. My partner and I were looking specifically for a wine bar with a dinner menu. After walking in, the chic upscale wine cellar was calm and comfortable with mood lighting. Our friendly and knowledgeable server tended to us relatively quickly, and made great suggestions for our starting glasses of white wine. I have to say I am not the biggest wine drinker but it was an excellent glass of Sauvignon Blanc. After putting in our orders we waited quite a while for our focaccia and bottle to come to the table. Looking around it seemed like the other guests that came after us got their food before us, and when our entrées arrived we had mixed opinions. I ordered the Butternut Ravioli which was savory and packed with flavor, while pairing perfectly with our Zinfandel. However, my partner's Shrimp Scampi was oily, bland, and "uninspired" - he thinks he could make a better dish with a week of training. We finished our visit with the Tiramisu and a lovely port wine, which was satisfactory. Overall, I would love to bring my wine loving dad here for a casual reunion with family and friends.
