Omg i just love this place .. best waffles and vanilla chai I've had in Humboldt as well as other yummy options. This spot can get pretty crowded so I recommend going early if you like SPACE or if you can't beat the rush then just grab your drink and food and walk a few blocks down and grab a bench by the water to take in the lovely view. The staff is awesome.. some actually know my drink of choice by heart and the atmosphere is very laid back... this is probably the only coffee shop I will simply chill at by myself or with a friend. read more

Tl;dr: Good coffee, poor service. Staff ask to change to easier order, orders not prepared when promised, order once completely wrong and contained things I'm allergic to. Products are awesome, customer service is severely lacking. Once, a cashier asked me to choose a different item because he didn't want to bend down to get it. I thought he was joking until he groaned and slowly retrieved my scone. He's mentioned his bad knees every time I've asked for something out of their case, and asks "are you sure?" most of those times. I understand having injuries, but you need to be able to do your job or take the time to heal. The scone was at waist height, not on the floor. Like I said, I enjoy their products so I've special ordered coffee as well. It took three employees before they could figure out how to take a special order (which they advertise). When I arrived to pick it up on the day they had told me, it had not been prepared and I had to wait half an hour before it was finished despite being told "give us ten minutes and we'll have it for you." I continued to give them the benefit of the doubt until my most recent visit, which led me to write this review. I was the only customer at the time and the cashier helped me decide what to get on my wrap. When I received it, not only did the wrap not have what I asked for, it was completely different and had ingredients I'm allergic to! Luckily I noticed soon enough to not have a reaction, but I had taken my wrap to go so then didn't have lunch. I will continue going here every once in a while for the coffee, but absolutely not for the quality of the staff. read more

Standard protocal for me is to order an americano without water so I can check my own shots. I add hot water from their counter carafe if the shots are good and add coffee if it's needed (to mask the shots). I often get handed espresso sans crema (?!) Muffins are costco style, pastries on delivery from a local bakery (but really not worth it). Nice chocolate and biscotti cases. Great coffee packaging. Fine atmosphere to work or chat in. Not the place to talk to strangers unless you're really in for the haul. If you like good coffee (or want cozy), walk a block up to Because Coffee on F & 3rd. If you want a big spot to meet up with study groups, old town coffee makes sense. read more

This was my go-to study spot during my rotations in Humboldt county. Free wifi, good drinks, but their coffee is very strong and one time they accidentally gave me caffinated instead of decaf. I decided to stick with the steamed milk drinks because their tea selection was not the best. Love the live music! read more

This place has a great atmosphere if you don't mind the trendy crowd. Huge vaulted ceilings, brick walls, wood floors and the aroma of not over roasted Starbucks coffee, bonus! The beans are roasted just right, the blends are mixed by someone who knows what they are doing and the brews are perfect. All of which make this place of high utility value to the town being that they are a coffee shop and are GOOD at making coffee. There are a plethora of candy, fudge, donuts bagels, salad and other fine products to purchase if that is what you are into. Awwwwe. This place used to be so great. The last couple years it has been on the decline. Burnt coffee. Dirty dining room. Wifi that you need a temporary sign in code & only allows for about an hour of weak wifi that you can't even stream with. Super aggressive, mentally ill people permitted to stay and permeate the area with the strong smell of urine. Said aroma makes it hard to enjoy a drink or a snack. Other gross things occurring in the dining room... I think the employees may be afraid to kick people out when they are being disruptive or inappropriate. Two star because it is old town & there are shreds of (rapidly fading) nostalgia left in this building. Get it together. Ramone's is up the street and doesn't smell like pee. read more

This place is freaking amazing holy crap. I got a sweetened, spiced chai and an herb and cheese bagel with sun dried tomato cream cheese. I ordered a 1/4 sheet Strawberry Delight, with pink champagne as the cake from the Henderson Center location for a large group of people. The cake was prepared beautifully and on time when I came to pick it up on the appointed date. Also, almost everyone enjoyed it. The frosting was okay, although I would have preferred it to be more generously. However, the texture of the cake was deliciously moist and fluffy. Overall, I think if I were to need a cake for a gathering in the future, and I am in the area, I would order from this place again. read more

I bought a chicken wrap. The man/cashier taking my order was nice and friendly. The order was to go. I only waited about 5 minutes for my wrap. They were not busy and the girl making my wrap walked up to the counter and said my order out loud like a Starbucks, dropped it on the counter, and walked away with no real customer service. My wrap was almost $9.00. It is a mix of salad, cream cheese, mustard and small amounts of chicken. I picked it up and immediately felt how small it was. I'd ordered this a few times before as I work down the street so the shop is close by. I unwrapped the paper and found about a 4 1/2 inch wrap that fell apart immediately after I took the tooth pick out. I could have made a better wrap blindfolded, from home. I think she should have built a better wrap and at least said. "Have a nice day." Or "Thanks for buying my crappy wrap." The ingredients are good. I'm giving an extra star for the man cashier and fresh ingredients or it would be a 2 star review. read more

Visited on a Sunday, ordered a 12oz chai and one hot chocolate, plus 2 day-old scones (sorry no fresh scones or discount for not being fresh) = $13.00 Drinks were only warm and 1 scone too stale to eat. The woman at the counter was annoyed when I asked for a hot drink and a trade for the stale scone. She offered me one of their muffins from Costco. What can be said but amazing. This little gem in old town eureka is definitely not to disappoint. I continue to get coffee at this location because it's five times better than Starbucks or Peets and it actually tastes like coffee and not a mouthful of sugar. Food: 5 stars. There's not much to look at for food with a lot of boards utilizing coffee drinks like a fancy wine list. The sweets they have there are very tasty and definitely something that would go great with any coffee. I always come here to get coffee for home which doesn't go dry or bad. Service: 4 stars. They are friendly and energetic with knowledge of all the coffee they have. I'd probably cut back with the tremendous selection though. It can be overwhelming and maybe could be utilize for seasons or holidays. Atmosphere: 3 stars. It's really nice inside but seeing the homeless outside gives me a poor feeling which I know isn't the stores fault. The thing that got me from 4 to 3 is the internet access which looks like an old beat up computer in their store which you pay for. wifi? you'd get more people but i never really checked with them to see if there was free wifi. Overall, this place is really cool and definitely worth getting coffee here. I used to come to this place every week with a friend and bring out of town guests when touring old town. But last week I went in with a friend who was getting a coffee and I asked to use the bathroom. There were three employees standing in the walkway to the restroom and one of them made a weird gesture with they're arms when I walked by but I didn't think anything of it, on my way back out a tall male employee with curly red hair said " thank you very much for using our restroom and leaving" then smirked over at the other employees. I was very shocked and embarrassed by their behavior and it left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. I will not be going back but I do hope that this place hires some more professional and kinder employees. read more

Lately this place has gone down hill. The drinks are often inconsistent meaning some days I love my drink and others I don't. Also the pricing is inconsistent as well..meaning some days I get charged 50 cents extra for something and another day they say it's 1.00..last but not least a few of the staff members ( a specific guy and girl come to mind) are very rude and just put off an attitude like they do not want to be there. Great coffee at a reasonable price. Walked over here after Because Coffee only had whole milk (no non-fat, 1 or 2%) or non-dairy for a latte. Old town has WiFi although it seemed slow to update my apps. Note that they'll only give you 1 &1/2 hours of WiFi per drink. That's understandable. Staff was friendly. There's much more space to spread out, although I just stopped in to grab coffee and update a few apps. read more

Cozy place to study, read, chat, or chill while doing stuff on my laptop. I'm a big fan of their biscuits and gravy and I love their waffles that they serve till 2pm. I was quite happy once recently when I called after 2pm and asked if they were still serving waffles and the lady that answered said they'd leave it on for us. We did get down there past waffle time and enjoyed their awesome waffles along with biscuits and gravy while we worked on some things and enjoyed the afternoon in old town. This place reminds me of the coffee hang-out in Santa Cruz, popular with locals and hippies while Starbucks across the street were stuffy with tourists. While visiting my daughter in Eureka, I always go to that place to get my morning jolt. My coffee *has to be* organic and I was so delighted to find this place, it instantly became my favorite. And, oh the truffles, I'm a chocoholic. I enjoyed their bagel, whole grains spread with cream cheese and jalapeno jelly. Yum! Went to this stop based on the other Yelp recommendations. We ordered a few lattes which where undrinkable. The espresso was burnt and bitter. I kept an eye on the person making our drinks and noticed that he had little idea on what he was doing. Steaming a large vat of milk to expedite the orders. Wish these coffee shops would take more pride in what they serve..... Most of us expect and will wait for a good well made cup of coffee. No need to rush. I love this place! They have delicious coffee, a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and amazing bagel goodness. I always get a cream cheese bagel piled high with lox and Larrupin sauce- a local sweet dill sauce that is yummy yummy. Lox is usually a pretty expensive add on, but here, it's totally reasonable. And OTCC's great location makes it a cool place to stop when meeting with friends for some thrift storing and book buying! read more

I wanted to hate this place.. there was a huge line (probably a good sign) and annoying hipster customers and employees everywhere! Turns out they make super awesome coffee lol. I would totally go back I ordered a white mocha with cream, a plain drip, an Apple donut thing and a banana bread. So I've never eaten anything vegan so I was surprised to see the banana bread was vegan and it actually tasted great! Healthy and yummy who knew? Only downside was there employees really are rude and annoying. I didn't feel welcomed but it could be due to them being slammed. For all the reviews on brewed coffee, lets be honest, all Humboldt coffee is crap! But I've also been a Barista in SF, so I've grown to be bougie with my coffee selections. The lattes here definitely take all the glory for this review! I usually go for Maple Lattes because I mean c'mon who else around has a maple flavored Torani syrup? No one! And I'm a maple freak so I'm consistent in spending my dollars at this coffee spot. The flavored latte selection is crazy and I love how they differentiate fruity, sweet and savory syrups! The staff is great, the drinks are great, I've only had pastries or bagels which are great as well, and overall it's an awesome space to mellow out with a latte or have a catch up with friends! read more

The decor and atmosphere fit their surroundings, and its kind of the only place around in which to hang out and relax unless you go up by the college. I went with an iced mocha with almond milk- which was organic by the way. 3.
