For a small town the coffee wasn't bad. If we just rate the place for its coffee (since they are a roaster) it's a solid 3 star. The americano tasted like the beans were over-roasted so it lacked some flavor, but that may be a personal preference. read more

Kind of cheesy location, and with such a name, I expected this cafe to be stuffy. I had forgotten, of course, that Eureka's not a very stuffy place. I ordered a coffee and sampled most of what they had brewed and ready--none were amazing but all were pretty good. I also had a key lime truffle, which was surprisingly good, a great combination of sweet and sour. My friend ordered a latte, which was complete with a pretty design. Mentioning design reminds me that the cafe featured the works of local artists, and their logos are designed by the same artist who designed logos for Lost Coast Brewery just around the corner. read more

We were walking around Old Town and it seemed to take for ever to find a coffee place. We happened across this place and it seemed pretty nice. My tea was made from loose leaf tea and the woman tied up a filter pouch for me. It was a nice touch. My wife said her coffee was pretty good. They have a fw tables outside and I don't know if someone walked off with the chairs, but for three tables there was only two chairs. It was a nice touch to be able to sit outside and enjoy the nice day with our dogs. I gave this place an extra star because it's got a nice staff and isn't a Starbucks. One thing I wish they had were more gluten free snack options. read more

Chai drinkers - this is your coffee shop. House chai is excellent and the Spiced Chai Latte is a real treat. All the coffees are really great. Baked goods are incredible, we had the Apple Fritter and Caramel Turtle and loved both. The atmosphere was great, cozy and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and great at what they do. But - and this is extremely odd, given the name of the business - the coffee is not very good. I've never ground and brewed my own cup with OTCC beans, so I'm not sure whether the off flavor comes from the beans themselves or the brewing method in-shop. read more

It's nice to find a cool coffee shop when you are out of town. Because there are never any guarantees. This place has great atmosphere, music is good and not loud, making the morning mood a pleasant one. Lots of drip coffee choices. If you order "for here" they actually warm your cup. My husband and I had already drank coffee at another local shop down the street soon before stopping in, so we didn't have an opportunity to try their coffee. We went in to check out their desserts and selected a couple of chocolates, which were generously portioned and delicious when we ate them later. I believe we had the Raspberry Truffle and Strawberry Truffle chocolates. The staff wasn't so attentive, as it took awhile for someone to acknowledge us. Overall, we'd be back for more chocolate if we return to the Eureka area and may try their coffee next time, too. read more

We were cold, tired and hungry after a long drive from San Francisco. We stopped here looking for dinner close to closing hours and they fired up the griddle for us and prepared some hot bagels. The server was super nice and not only gave us recommendations of nearby attractions to check out but she also gave us two hot cookies for the trip. The Dark Mocha espresso drink comes with a generous dollop of whipped cream (if you so choose) and is delicious. The *real fruit* banana-mango smoothie would've been better if the mango had been more ripe but in early January I don't know how you'd get really good mango. Nice atmosphere--lots of wood, exposed brick, lofty ceilings, tables not spaced too close together. Pleasant service. Restrooms are a bit run-down but clean. read more

I have been coming here forever! From the street the beautiful old brick building with big black doors and lots of windows is very warm and charming, and well persevered old town architecture. Before I talk about my most recent trip to Old Town I would like to say I usually really enjoy coming here to have coffee and biscotti with friends. However on my last visit the barista taking my order was really rude. I made the horrible mistake of asking what the wifi password was. I'm not sure if his mother died in a awful computer accident and "Wifi" is his trigger word but you would think with the amount of shortness and snark being exchanged that I had personally offended him somehow. Again that being said the coffee and treats are good and I really appreciate the trivial pursuit cards in the far sitting area. read more

This is a nice and large sized coffee shop in Eureka; there's free wifi, and lots of room to sit. Outlets abound, in case you need to plug in. The mocha was soooo chocolaty! Great if you're a "chocolate hound" which I confess, I am. I went back after drinking about 2/3rds, and asked to have it topped off with just coffee. The staff was fine with that (I paid for the topping up.) The vibe is casual, the background music was light and jazzy, and I hunkered down with laptop, mocha and the mood to write! read more

I stop in this place once a month when Eureka is doing its Arts Alive promotion. I'm a Red Eye junky at most coffee shops, and I love getting Red Eyes here because they let you pick what coffee to put in the cup yourself (they just serve you the double shot of espresso in a cup and direct you towards the coffee bar). This way I can get different types of coffee each time instead of the standard house that most shops use, so the flavor is more dynamic and I don't get bored of ordering the "same thing" each time. Great shop. A little busy when I go in, but all the businesses are shoulder-to-shoulder during Arts Alive. read more

Usually a great place that i like going to for coffee or tea. Really good hot drinks, but my partner and I ordered iced drinks in our personal cups today and were super disappointed. Our cups were mistakenly switched, which is normally fine except my cup was larger and I paid for a larger size drink than what was received. Also once we got our drinks the cups were filled to the top with ice and an entire 16oz cold brew was drinkable in 3 sips... I'm also a barista, and there was literally about 6-8 oz of liquid which isn't cool when a customer is paying for more. I totally understand that the amount of ice is a tricky judgment call sometimes, but our drinks were a little ridiculous. read more

This is the coffee shop that I have loved since moving to this area. Great roasts for home brewing, and for a stroll when poking around in Old Town! I like their black and white mocha, and they have yummy biscotti! The Arts Alive artwork is always worth a look as well, and the funny magnets they sell. This place is a great little spot in Old Town Eureka. I would say that if you are going to be in the area and have some extra time this well worth the visit. The coffee is roasted in house weekly, and the fudge is made there also. The staff is friendly and always courteous. The coffee is wonderful, and if I can't make it in there. Many bags are available at several of the local grocery stores. They have live music a few nights a week as well as an open mic night. Also if you happen to be hungry and are there in the morning the waffles and biscuits and gravy are well worth it. They have free wifi which is pretty decent and they also have computers that you can rent for a fee to use. Stop by have a cup and eat a truffle you won't regret it. read more

I usually like this place, but my last visit wasn't the best. My drink was overly syrupy and I didn't even end up finishing it because it was really mediocre. I ordered a bagel with pesto and avocado and it took 20 minutes to come out. When I finally did get it, it was cold and chewy. I could tell they made it a while ago then forgot about it and brought it out cold. They could have at the very least reheated it. I am not impressed and I feel like I wasted my money. If I judged this place solely on my last visit, I would give this place a 1 star. I have had some decent experiences with this place so I'm going to generously give it 3 stars.
