Overview: at the time we went their website stated bottomless mimosas for their Sunday Champagne Brunch for $44.99, unfortunately when we arrived they changed it and said it was only 1 complimentary glass; they updated their website to reflect the change and just recent brought get back bottomless. ---- Most of the food was good, I liked the ribs, the sweet corn tamalito, and the steak fajitas. I didn't really like the salmon or the flan (I love flan so I was disappointed I didn't like this one) For the price point of $45, the food wasn't worth it for me. Also we weren't notified about the champagne change until we were sat down at our table, and said that "they don't have access to their website anymore." I feel that they could've attempted to contact us since we made a reservation. As of April 2026, they changed it back to bottomless and I'm disappointed it wasn't available for us when we went. I also enjoyed the omelette station and the person working it was really nice. The balcony seating was nice too. Parking is tough in old town especially on weekends, but they have a free dedicated parking lot, so look for the signs! ---- Overall: I wouldn't come back here, the price for the quality of food wasn't worth it. For $45, I could've spent it on really good food, have a full belly, and still have money leftover

Many visits to Old Town and this was our first time trying the Tequila Factory. Chips and salsa were delicious.. we tried the fajitas and they were pretty decent. Home made flour tortillas made it even better. Servers and staff were very nice and working hard, but clearly management did not staff for a 6:30 dinner rush and we sat and waited for help for the majority of our visit. Recommend for the beautiful views and pretty good Mexican food, hoping this was just a night of poor staff planning.

Here's another place we happened to walk by on our way to another famous restaurant and decided for time to try. And this was because of parking as usual in Old Town is not the greatest, sometimes you get lucky!!! Ok about the restaurant, it's tucked away on a hill across from the park. When we walked in we were greeted immediately, they had roof top seating but was available and they have lots of out side seats but it wasn't available because they had two private parties going on, one was a class reunion. So we chose what was available. Here's a point to be acknowledged on the menu it says every where you sit there's a view. So as we sat waiting on our drink menu I looked out through the views we were presented with and sure enough we could see Point Lona and the ocean with ships that were departing!!! Ok onto the food, salsa with chips was the first thing we received and from the first bite it's was obvious these were made and not bought. The salsa was the same but it had no fire. There were so many options to chose from so we selected the steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas, good choice!!! They were full of all the ingredients to satisfy!!! We were provided extra tortillas with a mix of flour and corn. To top it off with two Mojito's. One question to ask is napkins for the finger food. We didn't get any until the main meal arrived so be aware . Also they have their own parking for their guesses and apparently they are a hotel. During busy time they atmosphere can be loud . Like I always say try it you may just like it.

Loved the atmosphere here! It perfectly captures that authentic Mexican vibe right in San Diego. The outdoor patio is a highlight--great space to relax. We grabbed a couple of cocktails, and the bartender is clearly talented because the drinks were fantastic. While the food was more on the average side, the prices are very reasonable, making it a solid spot for drinks and apps.

We waited several minutes for someone to wave at me from across the room asking how many in our party. We were seated pretty quickly after that. The hostess was very kind. Yikes. Im terrified to ask for anything I think our server is very overwhelmed or upset? Sylvia I really hope your night is better. I want to ask you what's wrong but feel it's out of place here tonight. After a chaotic moment everyone settled and Sylvia returned calm and kind. Our margaritas are ok....very sugary. For a tequila factory I thought we may be offered a list or variety of tequila. After asking for 1 or 2 kinds we gave up and took whatever they put in here.... very disappointed in the name not living up to the expectations we had. The food all looks really nice and presentable. Hi, i'm gonna rent and green enchilada. The green has a nice little zip and kick to it.And the red is pretty good flavor. Quesadillans were pretty good. Tortillas are very good The tacos are good. Chicken was the least favorite. The beef was great! All was starting to go well and then.... omgosh... my daughter was super grossed out by the lipstick left on her water glass. We dont feel so safe eating the rest of our food. As convenient as this location was I highly doubt we will ever return. 4 people, 2 drinks, $100 lots of food left tonight.

my son and I just drove in from Las Vegas and this spot was less than five minutes away from our hotel we walked in and promptly with such sweet staff at first looking at the menu. It's a little small, but after trying the food, I understand anyone with real tequila knowledge.....they offer fortaleza!!!!!! I also tried the taco trio which includes a fish taco, a portobello taco and a Carne Asada taco. They were amazing the jalapeños they use have just the right amount of spice. The fish batter was light and not the mushroom taco has a sauce that's sweet and savory and the Carne Asada taco was simple as it should be and so yummy not pictured my 10-year-old son ordered the single tacos with Carne Asada, avocado and cheese and he said they were the best tacos he has ever had and now wants to move to San Diego. Definitely a great spot to check out and it has a patio that overlooks the city. highly recommend

We had family in town and decided to try this place for dinner on a Saturday night. It seems tucked away but it has beautiful views if you sit in the patio. Unfortunately, there is nothing to block the sun that's directly in your face. We were told that the restaurant is under new ownership over a month ago. Service was nice. The accommodated two children with crayons and something to color on. One said the fries were just as he expected - delicious. I wasn't that hungry so I had ordered a soup and side. I had chicken tortilla soup (my BIL pointed out that his was missing the avocado) and a side of one chicken enchilada. I did have a bite of my husband's shrimp enchiladas and it was okay. Everyone was okay with their meal. There is street parking but it can be challenging to find parking.

I will say that as soon as I walked in to this establishment the person at the front was very delightful( i dont remember her name sadly). Place was very clean. A few things I learned dining here: *if you get the tacos with beef or chicken the pico de gallo can't be taken out because its seasoned with it. Only the grilled chicken can be without pico de gallo *Happy hour only applies if your sitting in the bar area. *It appears you can't look at any other menu on the website prior besides the brunch menu *Best spot to watch the sunset here is on the patio area and patio seating is first come first serve. *If you plan a dinner time or a busy time to come here I highly recommend placing a reservation here. While reserving, it will ask you what part of the restaurant you are requesting to sit with the reservation platform open table. I will say the waiter I got which I'd prefer not to name but definitely not new which is good. I had ordered no pico de gallo I saw the waiter put it in without, but when I got it it had pico de gallo then after replacing the order I find out that only the grilled chicken can come without the pico de gallo after asking the kitchen.I feel like the waiter should've known that. Then I asked for more chips the other person who delivered the original order never brought it. So had a while where I couldn't get a hold of our waiter which was frusterating because other people were repeatedly being asked if they needed anything but not our table seemed less acknowledged even if unintentional. Then when the check came an extra drink was charged which we did not order. Luckily we caught it. So thats my visit. I'd go back and hope the waiting staff does a little bit better. Food was pretty good. Just maybe would try something else next time. The waiter was nice but that's not the only thing I can give this review on.

    This is outside seating.

Looking for a place with view varied menu and central location? always good service (come to the patio and hang out with Paz) broad menu but the reason I return is the weekend buffet with bottomless champagne the buffet has options from omelette bar to salad station and Pozole along with other options. They have two outdoor patios with amazing views of old town and indoor options as well. Very friendly staff clean and option for live music. Walking distance from the shopping area in old and also has a hotel attached. if you're a chiefs fan perfect stop along the way to the chiefs bar up the road.

We're in town for my husbands birthday weekend and he was craving a Mexican buffet, this restaurant had the best reviews and we were sold with the mimosas included in the buffet. The restaurant is really pretty, calm, and the view is stunning! The set up for the buffet was great and they have plenty of different options, my favorite was definitely the posole. My kids enjoyed the omelet station and my husband loved the tacos! The staff is very helpful and friendly, Alicia was amazing! She kept making sure we were doing ok and was on point filling up our glass with champagne, she's a very sweet lady! Def recommend this place, and we will def be back next time we're in the area.

Nope. All restaurants and bars are closed. I'm not sure about take out.

It could go both ways. Near the bar it can be quite noisy. We had a group of 8, all in our 70's and we sat at a large table in almost a room by itself and it was great for a group that wanted to visit... and the hearing aides we're a problem…

This place was exactly the vibe we were hoping to find. The second we walked in, I loved the vintage feel of the decor. It has that authentic old-school saloon energy that can't be manufactured. A genuine neighborhood watering hole with personality - a little worn in, full of character & packed with stories. One of the best parts of our visit was the bartender, who also happened to be the third-generation owner. He struck that perfect balance of being super friendly & welcoming without being all up in our business. You could tell he genuinely cared about the place & its history. I'm really glad that I found Oculto because it has been one of the highlights of my San Diego trip. First of all, the concept of the seven deadly sins is really cool. The space is absolutely moody, intimate, and thoughtfully designed. It has an atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and enjoy your drink rather than rush through it. And since I don't really drink, I was definitely going slow. And I was alone, but the good part was I found myself just taking it all in instead of reaching for my phone. I started with an espresso martini-style cocktail that was smooth, balanced, and the perfect way to ease into the evening. For my second drink, I asked for the bartender's choice, and it ended up being one of my favorite cocktails I've had in a long time. It featured lychee, strawberry, and cardamom, and was garnished with a beautiful little rose. It was creative, elegant, and every flavor worked together perfectly. The cocktails were outstanding, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Devin was an excellent bartender and an amazing conversationalist. He was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging, making me feel welcome from the moment I sat down. He took the time to craft a drink based on flavors I enjoy, and it was clear he cares about creating a great experience, not just serving drinks. If you're looking for a cocktail bar with incredible drinks, a gorgeous atmosphere, and exceptional hospitality, I can't recommend Oculto enough. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in San Diego.

Located in Old Town San Diego, we had dinner at a restaurant within walking distance from Oculto. I parked for free on the street and made a reservation day of. It's a pretty small speakeasy so if you're going on a weekend, you're probably going to have to make a reservation in advance. Ambiance (4.5/5): Oculto has the seven deadly sins theme going which is pretty cool. I've been to a similar speakeasy in St. Pete, Florida. Once you arrive at the mezcal bar that houses Oculto, check in with the host, and he will bring you to a "confessional." There, you must confess one of the seven deadly sins before the door to the speakeasy is opened for you. Naturally, I went with "lust." Once you get inside, it's a charming speakeasy. Service (2.5/5): This is one of the areas that leaves a little to be desired. There was only one bartender working when I was there. Since speakeasies have elevated cocktails, service was quite slow. They definitely needed two bartenders there to speed up the process. They also have a two-drink minimum which I was annoyed about on principle. I often have multiple drinks at a bar, but I never feel like I'm forced to do it. Food (N/A): I'm not sure if they have food, I don't believe they do. Regardless, I was on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): Pretty interesting menu of craft cocktails. When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for unique drinks that have an interesting combination of ingredients and flavor profiles. In addition to a nice list, they also have a dealer's choice cocktail where you can tell the bartender what you're into and they will craft a custom cocktail for you based on your taste. Another cool thing about Oculto is that it's located next to the cemetery in Old Town. That adds to the spooky theme.

We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

They also have some seats at the bar. This restaurant has gone all in on the space theme, from the hostess greeting to the decor in the restaurant and restroom, and even the menu and tables. Such a fun vibe! This place is known for their cocktails. I forget what we ordered because they all have funny names, but both my friend and I really enjoyed our choices. The food was great too. We ordered the tofu. I think it had a light tempura fry, yummy sauce, and very large portion. The bread is roti with an eggplant and tomato dip. Very good, but not enough dip. I'd still order it again. Probably the only negative was that I felt a bit rushed to leave. We were enjoying our conversation, entrees, and drinks and got checked on quite frequently. Eventually the waiter said, no rush but here's the check. Kind of ruined the vibe. We decided to pass on dessert here and walk to an ice cream shop in the same neighborhood.

What I truly appreciate is how inclusive it is; when they say "all are welcome," they genuinely mean it. You feel like part of the community the moment you step through the door, no matter who you are. The folks working behind the bar are absolute superstars. They're not just great at mixing up a delicious drink, but they're also super friendly and always up for a bit of banter. It's the kind of place where striking up a conversation with someone new at the bar is effortless. There's a constant buzz of friendly chatter and laughter, making it such a wonderful place to just relax and be yourself. And let's talk about value - they truly know how to pour a proper drink, and their prices are incredibly fair. You definitely get a fantastic drink without feeling like you've splurged. It's just an all-around great spot to unwind, meet some cool people, and enjoy a top-notch beverage in a relaxed, friendly setting. Highly recommend giving The Loft a visit!

Situated on 5th Avenue in beautiful Hillcrest, The Loft is a small, but mighty place that is near and dear to my heart for a variety of reasons. From the bartenders, to the patrons, and of course the drinks...this spot is an absolute vibe! Everyone is beyond welcoming and fun here. The space is a great combination of indoor/outdoor. The drinks are strong and well priced, which is not a combination you can find many places these days! They don't serve food, but they are fine if you want to bring your own, which many folks do. We have enjoyed a cocktail and UberEats'd something so we didn't have to leave. Overall, while I am not a San Diego local (yet), I consider The Loft my local spot. Love this place!
