I was excited to find a new plumber in the area and I love supporting local family run businesses. I found Old Towne Plumbing on Nextdoor as several folks in my neighborhood recommended Old Towne. I called on Saturday and got their answering service and they sent my number to Carl the owner. He called me right away and he offered that his tech could come later today or Monday. I confirmed with my tenant that she preferred Monday and called Carl back, he said to text him her number and he would set up the appointment. Which I did. And that's where it derailed. No one called my tenant on Saturday or today. My tenant also messaged around 10AM - no response. I called at 3 and left a message then I got a text back asking me to text him. I did asking if anyone had called my tenant yet. No reply. 4:15 I text again - saying "hello?" No reply. i am pretty understanding and probably would have taken a lame excuse - but I didn't even get a chance to hear one. Sorry, I guess I am still looking for a family business that will follow through. read more

Karl and crew are my first phone call in a plumbing disaster - and my 1925 bungalow has had a few. Most recently, they ended up needing to replace a cast iron waste line (which turned into quite a few more corroded drainage pipes under the house as well) and were quick, efficient and most importantly, thorough and trustworthy. While they were connecting the new line, they noticed many of the other pipes were in disrepair, took photos, and provided recommendations on how best to proceed so I don't have to do all this over again in a few years. I had JUST done my annual landscaping and mulch refresh the week prior, and they paid extra attention to detail to ensure my yard was put together just the way they found it. We had signs of a water issue about our kitchen ceiling. A bubble in the paint was starting to form. We called others but they were too busy. We called Old Towne and Carl was able to send someone out the next day. Ralph showed up promptly the next morning and found the issue real quick. He cut out the bad, copper joint that was corroded and put a new section in place. The next morning I had a knock on the door. OTP had their drywall guy repair my ceiling. I've done a lot of business with Old Towne plumbing. This business prides themselves on customer service, honesty, and getting the job done right. They will always try their hardest to make it out in a reasonable time, but they do get booked! In very high demand, with many emergency calls, especially in the summer with A/C calls. We have had them do work on our home in Yorba Linda ranging from re-routing some venting in our newly built laundry room, relief valve repair on our water heater, fixing our outdoor faucet that had old piping and corrosion, installing our new toilets and faucets, all the way to replacing our heating ducts in the attic. Our old ones were tiny compared to today's standards and had many crimps in them. They took pictures to show us and got the job done in a very reasonable time. We noticed more efficient and warmer heat ventilation right away! No more cold spots! Bottom line is we trust OTP with everything from the small stuff to the big stuff! They will get the job done and have comparable rates to others. What I've learned is the structure of the company works and they collaborate on the plan. If you have a request, let them know and they'll do their best to make it happen if it's safe and plausible to do so. read more

I've been using Old Towne Plumbing for close to 15 years. Carl the owner is super nice guy. His lead guy Ralph has worked on my old 1925 built home for years. We replaced the sections that needed to be replaced. they are honest, most of my neighbors are talked into whole house upgrades(plumbing, electric, etc) These guys ask, so you want to spend all the money in one shot or fix whats needed. So, over 15 years, I've upgraded all of my plumbing, section by section, For me, it was easier to absorb the cost. Most contractrs will paint a doom and gloom sitituation that you have to do all of the work in one shot. Yes, I knew that I would have top replace all of the plumbing someday, but every couple of years is so much easier. TGhey are super easy to make an appointment with, and if its an emergecy, they will make it happen. As an owner of an old house, I can say I have had my share of bad contactors, But I have never had a problem with Carl and his crew. read more

This is the shadiest company I've ever encountered, I have absolutely no idea how they are in business. I got a new quote for a job I had considered Carl for and was quoted about 10k less, the guy was baffled when I had told him the amount I had been quoted from this place. They have some EXTREMELY concerning reviews on Google too, as well as Facebook. One person even accused Carl of commiting fraud, so idk what going on with this place but something needs to change. We found our go to guys! We had water damage to our home and no one was able to locate the cause. We had 3 separate leak detections completed and had a geological engineer involved. I did my own search and found Old Towne Plumbing who had the technology that was recommended as well as a company that seemed to know our area and the homes well. Within 10 minutes of being here, Carl and Anthony were able to isolate the leak to our irrigation system. I was in shock that they were able to tell me so quickly after 3 other companies could not figure it out. Carl came out on a separate day to meet with our groundskeeper to help figure out where the irrigations lines were before starting to dig and search. My husband and I were skeptical but they came out a couple days later and were able to isolate the leak. They must have had at least 10 different people here to help figure it out, bringing all their knowledge and skills together to figure it out. Every single person from Old Towne Plumbing have been professional and kind (I've met at least 6, worked more closely with 4). Carl in particular has a ton of knowledge and experience. He has gone out of his way to help us with this issue and has been the liaison between us and our insurance company. Our insurance company is not looking out for our best interest and acted as a bully. Carl is very knowledgable of our rights and what we're entitled to as the insured, and took the time to educate us and defend us. He has taken so much time to help us with our claim. I cannot say enough about Old Towne Plumbing. They have done so much for us and our home. We are confident in the work that they have done and the materials they used. Can't say enough glowing things about Old Towne Plumbing! We had a major plumbing crisis late Saturday morning so I started Googling plumbers in the area. The first two I called couldn't make it until much later in the day. Then I called OTP and "Karl" couldn't have been nicer or more empathetic with our situation. He scrambled to send one of his plumbers, Cary, to our house within an hour! Cary was the hardest-working, most committed problem-solver! He was incredible! Old Towne Plumbing is a scammy company. I have a tenant who believed she had mold in her unit, so she called this company. Carl Shields came out and told her it was bad. I spoke to him and he told me it was bad and would need all sorts of expensive work. To prove it, he told me would come back to the unit with a camera and take pictures of the insides of the walls. He said he would hire a 3rd party company to take samples and do testing. Shields quoted me at $800 for the testing and told me that everything else would be part of a free estimate. Everything about him seemed fishy, but I was very busy with other work at the time and my tenant was so convinced she was getting sick due to mold. I told Shields to send me a work contract before doing any testing. He never sent the work contract nor did I sign anything; he scheduled with the tenant and came in there to do the testing anyway and tried to bill me for $1,210. When I objected to the extra $410 in extraneous charges, instead of addressing them, Shields started to accuse me of being an absentee landlord. I don't know how many plumbing companies out there make their work on predatory practices like this, but this is the first time I've ever come across it. Steer clear of this company! read more

My laundry shut off valve started leaking. Nextdoor.com had several recommendations for Old Towne Plumbing. It was already after 3 pm on a Friday but they said they would get someone out as soon as possible. Carey called me back. He was in the middle of a job in Orange but said he would come out once he was finished. Even though he didn't complete his other job until after 6 o'clock, he still came out to my Irvine address. The job was more involved than either of us thought because the original valve was out-of-spec and could not be simply replaced with similar valve. Carey drove to a local Lowe's to find a better replacement valve. Because it was getting late, he patched things up so that there wouldn't be any leaks that night and said he would return the next morning. To my surprise, Carey and Aaron came out Saturday morning and worked to get everything right. They assured me that they would "take it easy" on the billing since the job couldn't be fixed the first day ( night ). True to their word, their final bill was extremely reasonable. The job was done right and done with friendliness and fairness. You always hear stories about people who overcharge or who do poor work. Not the case with Old Towne Plumbing. Long story short my house was left in such a mess with the previous person I had hired that I could have bulldozed the house and it would have looked better. Anyway, Carl had done some plumbing and electrical work on this house several weeks earlier. He sent one of his guys to fix a minor issue I had. When his guy noticed that there was hardly any progress since he was there those many weeks earlier he called Carl. Carl came back and offered to help me with this house. I called Karl regarding a slab leak on Saturday night & he told me he could have his crew to my house the next day... Sunday at 8 am! I was very surprised at how fast he responded to my call and situation. On Sunday his crew was there on time with their boots strapped and ready to work. Keep in mind nobody that I called would even come out on Sunday for a quote, let alone the earliest they would come out and do the job was Tues. Three days out was not going to work as I had water going everywhere. His crew was done in 5 hours... lighting fast. One night I discovered I had an underground pipe leak in my garage. My neighbor recommended "Old Towne Plumbing." In a panic I called them and despite the short notice they were at my home the next morning. Ralph and Erin fixed the problem in short order. The pipe leak also caused considerable damage to the adjoining walls of my laundry room. They also took care of this in short order as well, even repairing walls that had prior water damage. Additionally, Carl the assistant manager handled and resolved all of my insurance issues. Know this for certain as the new plumber actually installed the part and new plumber gave me back the original that was still in the toilet. We had a serious back up so Ralph B and Karl B show up to snake our mainline. Durning the process they get a confused look on their faces and asks if we are on septic? We replied that we were told we are on sewer, they shake their heads and said that we were lied to. So They bust out their camera and send it down the mainline to show us and sure enough we are on a septic tank still. So Karl pulls the plans from the city and everything was written up that we are suppose to be sewer but the original owner never hooked up. Oh Dammit. Karl assures us he'll do his best to keep the costs to as affordable as he can. The next day a crew of 6 come out and get started, 3 days later we are back up and running, Karl gives us the bill and we hug him, because his price was no where near the prices of others, I called for a quote from two other plumbing companies and it was upwards of 20k. Just had Old Town Plumbing re-pipe our house. They did great work, fast, and thorough. As we were just moving in, a bunch of other problems arose, and Carl at OTP was incredibly responsive and took care of the problems for us, including a blocked drain and water heater problem as part of the overall service. He even came out on short notice on a Sunday night when our dishwasher backed up, only because they had put it back in for us after the re-pipe, but it was the drain that was blocked to the street, which was no fault of theirs.
