Awful, awful, awful experience with Fast Water Heater Company. My Home Depot-purchased Rheem water heater failed while it was still under warranty. My warranty covered the replacement water heater but not the labor. I called Home Depot and they forwarded me to Fast Water Heater Company who insisted on cutting Home Depot out of the loop and installing a water heater from their supply rather than taking mine back to Home Depot. Even though I called at 1pm, they couldn't send someone until the next day. Over the phone, they quoted me: $859 for installation $153 for the permit $49 for a "disposal fee" (which they wouldn't need if they went through home depot) When their two installers arrived, they tried to upsell me $3500 worth of unnecessary and inflated charges. - They tried to sell me a $20 pan for $72 (not optional). - They would charge $160 for rolling the water heater on a hand-cart from their truck on the street to my ground floor water heater closet (no stairs, no lifting, not optional). - They tried to sell me a $35 expansion tank for $350 (optional, but they tried to scare me into thinking it wasn't. I later chatted with my engineer neighbor who said it was completely unnecessary). $859 for 2 hours of work is already an absurd hourly rate, and they're at least tripling the cost of every "not optional" add on. They ultimately quoted me over $2000 for all their "non-optional" up-charged add-ons, and I refused. I called around and found another installer who did the work for $950, including pans, hoses, and a trip to-and-from Home Depot. This company is taking advantage of people's trust in Home Depot and they should honestly be ashamed of themselves. read more

I never even reached out to this company, yet somehow they got my information from Home Depot after I bought a water heater. Since then, Fast Water Heaters has been calling me nonstop literally every day for the past five days, sometimes from different phone numbers. I've told them multiple times to stop calling. I've blocked numbers. They just keep finding new ones to call from. I didn't ask for their service, I don't want their service, and yet I can't get them to leave me alone. Reading through their Yelp reviews, I see I'm not the only one people mention price gouging and other shady practices. Based on my experience, I would never trust this company to touch my water heater, let alone step foot in my home. Poor communication, they provide no urgency even though they claim to provide same day service. I would give zero stars if I could. This company is a complete disaster. They scheduled a service appointment, so I took the day off work. First, they called to let me know their tech's car broke down and rescheduled for later in the day. Then at 7 PM, they informed me the tech car broke down and wouldn't make it and needed to reschedule again. I asked for a weekend appointment to accommodate my work schedule, but they refused, claiming the manufacturer's tech support only works Monday to Friday. When they finally showed up on Monday (MLK holiday), they said they couldn't help me that day either! Now, the next available appointment is Thursday, despite their website promising same-day service for calls made before 12 PM on weekdays. This company is too big and disorganized for its own good. Their promises mean nothing, and they clearly have no respect for their customers' time. Save yourself the headache and find a more reliable service provider. read more

I cannot recommend this company as they engage in duplicitous business practices, including upcharging for services that are not performed or required. We were quoted $2,200 for the install, a fair price for the work that needed to be done. All told, we are stuck with a $4,000 bill and the water heater itself, which costs $849 on Home Depot, was charged at over $2,000. The best we could determine, they took advantage of a Buy 3 get all at a better price promotion and figured we'd not notice that we were footing the bill for 2 additional water heaters. This is so deceptive and honestly, no business should ever conduct themselves in this manner. I will be sharing this around every single review platform that I can find and telling all of the people in my life about how terribly this was handled. Do not be swindled by this company. Go directly through Home Depot, do not fall for their Contractor-First outreach for this sort of thing. I wish this platform allowed for less than 1 star, because that is what they deserve. In my search for a new heat pump water heater, this company was the most experienced and provided the best price out of five other companies. Heat pump water heaters are still not as mainstream as traditional gas and tankless water heaters, and several plumbing companies were unfamiliar with them or felt hesitant to install them for lack of experience. Fast Water Heater regularly installs these units and knew exactly what would be encountered. The customer service representatives were very knowledgeable of the applicable rebate and tax incentives and were quick to get me an initial quote. Dustin, the technician who arrived to provide the final quote after examining my current setup, knew exactly what would be needed and gave me a final quote that was the lowest out of five other quotes I had received (by a healthy margin). Dustin also provided helpful suggestions for future maintenance work, which other plumbers had also pointed out, but unlike the other plumbers, Dustin did not try to up-sell me and told what to look out for in order to do the work in the future. He said it needs to be up to code etc. Then turned on the pilot light which was out and charged me $224. For 15 minutes of his time and for pressing a button. I felt ripped off. Going to shop around and not go through Home Depot. They should be ashamed to charge that much. Not all companies are looking to take advantage of an urgent situation. They gave me a price of $2,829 + $231 license fee, they refused to clarify and wouldn't respond to me after saying there's a license fee and haul away or extra hidden fees that aren't mentioned in the contract and subject to change. And they don't give any options of water heaters and they aren't very nice or willing to explain. I luckily called a few other companies to compare and found a good company that was no hassle and honest for $1,699.00. Calling around and shopping saved me $1,100. Look for a company with more than 600 good reviews. There are ppl who write fake reviews for a living and have no friends on yelp (phony accounts and reviews). Buyer beware. read more

It finally happened. Our gas water heater of 20 years sprung a leak over the weekend. We'd been considering switching to a hybrid heat-pump, but now it became a necessity. What was worse was the shut-off valve had rusted through so the only way to avoid flooding the garage was to shut off all water to the house. Dean from Fast Water Heater Company was able to get there the next morning to give us a quote for the installation, which was quite reasonable. Since he was already there, he was able to remove the old gas water heater and install a new shut-off valve so we could at least have some running water while waiting for the electrician to install an electrical circuit for the heat-pump. Dean was courteous and professional, and clearly knew his stuff. The new heat-pump was about 2 ft taller than our old gas water heater, but Dean could fit the new water heater, expansion tank and mixer neatly into the existing space while still making sure you had access to change the air-filter. After installing the new heat-pump Dean made sure to calibrate the mixer (required for certain rebates) and walk me through the various settings for best efficiency (heat-pump only) and how to switch to hybrid-electric mode should the heat-pump ever struggle to heat the water fast enough. It's been working great so far. Really glad we made the switch. read more

The charge was extremely expensive. I called them to report a water heater problem that they originally installed 4 years ago. There was a 9-time flash red light of my heater, which I told them on the phone, so that they can bring the parts when they came and no need to come the second time. They said there is a $225 charge to come over to do the diagnosis. When they came, they spent only 5 min to say this 9-flashes needs to order new parts! I had to pay the $225 which I signed over the phone before technician came. After new parts arrived, they said they need to charge another $145 for the technician to come again, and since my heater is not in labor warranty, the technician will charge me besides that $145 visiting fee. As to how much, it depends on the technician. So I do not know how much the technician will charge me. I will never recommend this company to others and you, and hope you do not repeat the same mistakes as me to find them to install or repair your heater from the first place. read more

they charge outrageous pricing--$800 per hour for basic Water Heater install. They will repeatedly attempt to add expensive services that Are NOT required and make you sign numerous forms to protect themselves from being sued...They charged me $2400 labor for very basic 3 hour one man water heater install. THE INSTALL FAILED CITY PERMIT INSPECTION and this same sleazy rip off company wanted and additional $240 to install a pvc drain pipe for the (already installed) pressure release valve!!! My water heater stopped heating the water. I noticed a blinking read light. I called them and they looked up my information and told me that it was still under warranty but they charged $225 initial fee for just coming out. I told them according to my research the red blinking light meant I needed to replace two parts. They said they should have the part on their truck but if not they would have to order it and if they had to come out again, there would be another charge. My son was able to light the pilot, but it didn't stay lit. He googled the issue. I called the manufacturer who is shipping the parts to me directly saving me over $300 that they would have charged me for just coming to my home. The manufacturer informed me that we did not need a plumber to change out the parts, and to just follow the manual. My advice is to do your research before shelling out unnecessary money for repairs you can do yourself. read more

I purchased a Rheem water heater from Home Depot. There was water around the bottom of the water heater, and I thought the water heater was leaking, so I contacted Rheem regarding the warranty. Rheem verified the warranty, and I contacted Fast Water Heater through the Home Depot service website to set up an appointment. The appointment was quick and easy to make with Fast Water Heater. The tech, Dustin Dean, came out on time, investigated the leak, and found the leak was coming from the shark bit connection of the water line feeding hot water to the house. He canceled the call for the water heater replacement and gave me an estimate for fixing the connection. He welded a new connection to the hot water supply to the house and installed the supply hose to the water heater. Problem solved. Thanks Dustin! read more

Bad service and over price. They installed a 50 gallons gas water heater and installed within the city code. When I had a city inspector came out and it failed on the pcv pipe that is not runs through outside of the wall. I emailed them with the failed city inspection and they are going to charge me more ($477) to do the fix. As a home owner, I don't know all these codes. They should know before installation. I paid $2,967.47 for the replacement water heater. read more
