Overall a solid food experience. Came off season when few were in town. Has a party of 5 and one went to get gas down the street quickly. Bizarrely they wouldn't seat us until we had the full party. To be fair, they had many signs on the walls noting this policy and I'm sure it's relevant in peak season, but there was only one occupied table in the entire place when we came so it seemed a bit unnecessary. Anyway, food was pretty good. Eggs taste like eggs. Pancakes are huge. Prices are fair. I'd probably come back again if convenient.

Reuben sandwich and coleslaw on the red plate. Eggs Benedict & hash browns on the blue plate.

Good was good. It is a really small place, so expect a little wait. The Reuben could've had a few more toppings, but still good. The eggs Benedict was delicious!

This place had some old rustic charm with a lot of memorabilia to look at on the walls. This place has reasonable prices & good food!! We did have a 20 min wait but worth it.

Ok. I just want to say this place should be rated close to 5 stars for breakfast. Classic diner breakfast with a New Mexico flare. Had Classic Juevos Rancheros with red chili sauce. Spot on and delicious. Just the right amount of heat. Kinda biker vibe in the place but more fun than rough. Our server was strictly business, got our coffees hot and food was to the table fast. She checked on us regularly too. Go for a great, reasonably processed breakfast!

This is the Yelp information on the day that I was ready for a huge pancake with Blueberries! Thank you Shotgun Willie's for being open!

Seems like every time I come to Red River, no matter what day of the week I choose, Old Tymer's is closed. So disappointing!

Breakfast burrito and pancake. Both were delicious!

Old Tymer's Cafe is a tiny restaurant located on the main strip in Red River, NM. The service is fast and the Waitress is friendly. If you love pancakes, this is definitely the breakfast spot for you. They have pancakes that are so big, they could possibly win a size contest with a hub cap as an opponent. Be sure to confirm the pancake size before placing your order, you don't want to think you've order a normal size pancake and a huge one is served instead. Food Review: Pancake - giant sized pancake, fluffy and sweet, topped with whipped butter and syrup is delicious. Cheese Omelette with Sausage - omelette with cheddar cheese and chunks of sausage was average. It barely had any flavor. Hash Browns - undercooked, very bland. A sprinkle of salt did make them taste a little better. Wheat Toast - plain toast that you must butter yourself with the stiff, cold butter packets on the table. Talk about hard to spread. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. I hope to be there one day when some actually finishes off one of those hubcap sized pancakes. Too bad it defeated us.

    Supreme pizza

Wife and I came for Pizza at 12:00 pm, the waitress was unfriendly. This is the first biker bar that has no alcohol. We ordered pizza supreme. More to come: Soggy crust bottom,, watery sauce, just okay in my humble opinion. We got our check and the unfriendly waitress charged us $3.00 for tap water. Are you skidding me? I complained about the $3.00 for tap water so they deducted it from our bill. Make sure you check your bill.

One pancake and biscuits and crazy with sausage.

We had lunch here yesterday and breakfast today. Highly recommend!! Normal people can eat the servings so we shared everything. The pancakes for breakfast were HUGE and fluffy! Very good.

The only consistently good food option in Red River outside of Reds. Best breakfast in the Circle!

It was about a 15 minute wait to get a table on a very busy Saturday afternoon. I am bumping up my review since it was a dog-friendly restaurant. Our server, Arthur, graciously brought me more water for my dog and offered me a bowl even though I already had both. For starters I had a Whiskey Smash ($14.75). I enjoyed it. I sampled a taste from my brother's beer flight ($18). My mom's Desperado Mexi Lager also. They were mostly enjoyable. Red apple cider was probably something I would have on the front porch. For lunch I had the BBQ brisket sandwich ($12.50) with fries, pickles, and onions. They did not skimp on the meat. There was BBQ at the table which I added because the brisket was a bit flavorless. I chuckled when our server brought the mac and cheese out to my ultra picky nieces. He stated to my sister-in-law that it was in fact the Kraft-style mac, but it wasn't. I mean maybe he should learn what that means first of all. But second... Can you believe those kids are so picky that they didn't eat a single bite? Eight dollars per bowl with a side. Wow. My kids would starve the rest of the afternoon if their food smelled and tasted half way decent. Lol. I can almost hear the mutterings at my parenting style. Hey at least I drank my overpriced whiskey cocktail. Because our party was so large, automatic gratuity of 18% was added to our ticket. The women's restroom was small and mostly clean, but awkward entering and exiting with other women and girls crammed inside. I did not like how tables in our area were left untouched long after other patrons left. If I had my choice, I would probably opt for an alternative place next time. I was not that impressed by the staff's overall indifference to all the patrons. RATING BREAKDOWN (3 stars overall, bumped up because they were dog-friendly!) The fries were crispy and I really liked the "spicy" barbecue sauce. The service left a lot to be desired. When our food came out, something was missing from every plate. The runner seemed confused and lost when we asked about our remaining sides. The waiter had to ask someone if they had to-go cups for my 8 year old and the runners had to ask about barbecue sauce for our brisket . I really wanted to like this place, my husband and I have enjoyed their spirits at various restaurants in Taos, but we were very underwhelmed and felt it was very overpriced especially for lacking service.

This night was no exception. Pizza, salads, beer and wine all were good quality. The service had a litany of issues: Guests waiting at the door for 10 minutes or more waiting to be seated. No one apparently assigned or dedicated to busing tables. Only one person to run the bar who was also preoccupied with waiting on some tables and delivering food. No order control despite handheld electronics (What salads did you order the kitchen lost the ticket? Supreme without bell pepper? No. Well that's what the ticket said.) No one apparently in charge to monitor and direct activities despite overhearing the young lady waiting tables say this was her first day. I'm not in the food service business, but it seems to me that most of this is easily solved. Hire another person and make them host/bus person. Keep the bartender behind the bar and focus him on filling all drink orders. Put someone in charge. Yelp is telling me I haven't mentioned ambiance. It was appropriately fine. Two large screen TVs with season appropriate shows running (in this case Red Bull mountain biking). The upstairs location gives a decent view through large windows. The decor fits the mountain vibe. I would go again, but will give them some time to work on the service. Take out is always an option.
