If you have plenty of time to kill try it. My third experience there was enough that I won't go back and I'm a local. Plenty of other restaurants to choose from, We were told to sit anywhere when we arrived. Waitress who was clearly overwhelmed never came over to our table asking us if we wanted a beverage and never even brought over water. Customers arrived way after us and their orders were taken. Mind you we were sitting right behind the bar in the main dining room and the customers after us were seated in a room further away. I guess we were invisible.... We left. What a pleasant surprise! When we walked in Jackalope had no customers. With just a banner on the building we were wondering what we were getting ourselves into. We ordered a variety of items and were blown away!!! GET THE LAMB SLIDER! We ordered a few and that was our favorite by far! Everything was outstanding! We were sitting in the Sonic parking lot and thought we should hit a local spot instead. So we drove over to Jackalope. Looks nice enough...we had three burgers and the fish and chips. the fish and chips were bad. really bad. Between four of us, we couldn't finish them. soggy batter, the fish was mushy. The fries were ok. The three burgers were really bland and way overcooked despite medium rare requests. I got a burger with green chilis but there was absolutely no flavor from the chilis..I couldn't see much green in the burger either. It was one of those times where you eat the burger because you're hungry but think that you could have made a much better one at home. The other two burgers were dull. Swiss mountain burger (bacon mushroom Swiss) was ok. the basic cheeseburger was also meh. We all ordered medium rare burgers but they all came well done and dried out. Which probably didn't help in terms of trying to eat them. Dry flavorless burgers...The service was fine but I would go to Sonic before I went back to this place. read more

Absolutely disgusting food and a bitchy waitress. Spent 140 dollars and it came with hair in the burger. My brisket was completely cold and it took 20 minutes just to get drinks while they weren't even busy. Stupid lady server had an attitude and we still have her a tip but in cash. Before the tip was handed, we put no tip so it didn't charge to a card and this lady got the nerve to say "so no tip" as it was in my father's hand. Ps. If I ever catch you it's on sight read more

Very disappointed... This place is nothing special. They were out of a lot of food items. I ordered something, and they were out of it. I overheard another table ordering, and the waitress unfortunately had to inform them that they were out of items three different times. When our food came, the sides we ordered did not. We were the majority of the way through our meal before the sides finally arrived. Also ordered the burger well done and it came back medium well ( still pink) . I would not recommend this place. Food and service were great. I had the California burger which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Husband had the green chile burger which he enjoyed as well. We split a basket of onion rings. They were delicious and a huge amount for 2. The only disappointment was the Garden salad. It is way overpriced ($10.00) for what you get, but it was fresh. They should consider making it a side salad and lowering the price. They don't have a liquor license yet. Hopefully they get one soon. The server told us it should be another couple of weeks. Great Green Chile Burger , every bite was a burst of flavor. Crispy lettuce, thick sliced tomatoes and the Green Chile adding all flavors of the region. Plainly stated Delicious! The Jackalope is a new restaurant taking over the old burger joint. The new owner is the chef and he's changed up the menu. Next visit I'll go for the Green Chile stew . Drop on ! read more

The food was great both times we've been there (although I'm really disappointed they no longer have fried pickles). Catherine was by herself yesterday and the place was full for outside seating and at least half full inside and at the bar. She did an awesome job! There wasn't even anyone from the kitchen running food orders out. She did it all and was sweet. She either needs a raise, a promotion or another set of hands. read more

I went here to eat as a solo traveler a few weeks ago and was met with the only horrible service experience I've ever had. The waitress made me feel alienated, was so rude and made me cry. I am a 22 year old woman who is very polite, and I unfortunately grew up as a picky eater. I never try to make this anyone else's issue though. I walk in and I'm immediately met with disdain at the fact I was there by myself. The waitress's name was Catherine or Christina or something along those lines, I don't remember. I go ahead and sit down at the back near the kitchen at the booth, and look at the menu. I was having a hard time with grief and major changes in my life that week and just wanted my simple comfort meal while on a trip to taos: the waitress comes over, barely acknowledges me, and I go ahead and say I would like a cheeseburger with just cheese, meat, and ketchup on it. She writes it down and quickly starts walking away without saying anything. I yell after her "with fries please" as she's walking and she acted like it was a bother for me to ask for anything more than a burger. She goes to the kitchen without saying anything except okay, and shouts "one hamburger... just the meat... nothing else... who the hell comes in here and orders that, that's so stupid" as if I couldn't hear her. Immediately my heart drops, and it makes me feel horrible because I'm already insecure about my simplistic palette. She comes out storming across the place to go to the other tables, gives me a big eyed glance as she passes and proceeds to completely ignore me until my food came 15 minutes later. I tried to get her attention in that time to tell her that I had said I wanted cheese but she only stopped at others tables. When my food came, she set down my plate without a word, storms away and I look at my plate and there's no cheese on the burger. At this point she just made me feel like a nuisance on an already bad day for me, so I started crying and trying to hide my tears- I felt like asking for cheese would just piss her off but I mustered up the courage anyway, calmed myself down and next time I saw her I said "there was supposed to be cheese on this, could I just get like a slice of cheese to go?" And she says "you didn't want cheese before why did you change your mind" and I said "I didn't change my mind I asked for it", "well I didn't hear that"- then she storms to the kitchen and says "she changed her mind she wants cheese" as if it wasn't her fault for missing it before and completely making fun of my order to the cooks. I got handed the slice of cheese and said thanks, packed up my food immediately and went to check out because there was no bone in my body that wanted to be in that room with her anymore. She made me feel sick. I almost didn't tip her, but when she rang me up, the tip screen popped up and she gave me the biggest death stare of my life, and I went ahead and looked her dead in the eyes of her death stare and gave 25% tip, said have a good one and got out of there. It's such a shame because the food was absolutely delicious, I really liked the fries especially, but you will NEVER be getting my business again, and I would NOT recommend going here. If you're looking for a nice little joint with good service then take your business elsewhere. The ambiance of the place sucked and felt like I was eating in the back of a shed, way too dark and uninteresting. The best thing was the artwork on the walls from a local artist. For that waitress, I hope you find peace and happiness that will make you become a better person, and I recommend a career change. Cheers. read more

Burger was great! Service was awesome as always, however we were very disappointed with the French fries on our second visit. The first time we dined there, the fries were amazing. They were shoe string cut and wonderfully seasoned. On our recent visit, the fries were mediocre. I suspect they were frozen, and they were not as deliciously seasoned as the shoestring fries had been. The fries were crispy, but just tasted like Wendy's. When asked about the unfortunate fries, our server explained that the potato cutter had broken. Hope y'all fix it soon! Would have given you a five star but for the fries and the lack of beer. Hope the liquor license comes through before long. Service was excellent! We will try again later, because you're in walking distance of our home and on warmer evenings, we enjoy the patio, but if the fries don't improve, probably will pass in the future. read more

Burgers are way better than the old burger stand , might be the best in Taos. Prices are very reasonable, like almost the same cost as going to Blake's but this is dramatically better. This is my new go-to burger in Taos. read more
