Since this was one of few places open at the time, we decided to order a burger. The guy behind the counter had an attitude right off. To get cheese on your burger will cost you an extra $2.00! Terrible brisket, not only was it bland, barely edible and overpriced, both of us felt really bad almost immediately after eating. We shared a pound of brisket with sauce and drank waters, nothing else. First and last trip here, wont be back. Food is ok. Staff are SURLY and argumentative. Sticky tables. No "please" or "thank yous." I asked for my cup after I paid and was told, "Give me a minute, I just have to put up the phone!" The server that brought my breakfast was very pleasant so your mileage may vary. read more

I thought maybe I made a bad selection but a local person today let me know he doesn't eat there. Very pricey for having to order at the window, pick up and bust your own table. I had the loaded baked potato and my husband had a brisket sandwich and iced tea. $41.00! Neither of us cared for our food. I threw away 2/3 of the baked potato. The sauce on the brisket was too sweet. It needed some spice. That's the first and last time I will eat here. read more

Shotgun Willies Cafe is located on the main strip in Red River, NM and is in walking distance to the Lift House. Don't blink, otherwise you may miss the tiny building position to hold up an entire corner. The service is friendly. You walk up to the counter to place your order and return a few minutes later to pick up your food. The decor is an array of pictures, quotes and jokes on the wall. The menu is simple and there is a direct view into the kitchen, where the Cook seems to use one skillet top grill for all items. This brings true life to the term greasy spoon. HaHa! The food is pretty good though. Food Review: Breakfast Sandwich on a Bun - large sausage patty on top of an egg with cheese folded inside of it, resting on a buttery lightly toasted bun was delicious. It was one of my best breakfast items on this trip. Hash Browns - average cooked and tasting. They were just ok. They were crispy and fully cooked though. read more

Gotta say the food here is good and they offer a cash discount. My only complaint is that the unsweet ice tea is really weak and as clear as dirty water. I told the cashier but he only told me he didn't make the tea. Oh well. Management if you're listening get that tea brewing right and maybe give your cashier some training on how to manage feedback. We were headed out for breakfast and were disappointed to find that the two restaurants we had chosen were both closed (the hours on Yelp were inaccurate). We stopped here instead, a no-frills local place. We sat outside in the covered area, which was rustic but comfortable. I got the breakfast sandwich, which was just two pieces of sandwich bread (dry), a slice of American cheese, an egg, and some bacon. It came with hash browns on the side, all in a paper basket. My husband had the breakfast BLT, which he liked; it was very similar to my sandwich. The food was fine for average small-town fare, nothing I couldn't have made at home. I don't go out for breakfast often so when I do I like to go big; as I mentioned, I would rather have gone to another option in town. I imagine that their lunch and dinner options are probably better than their breakfast, but I can only review what I've tried. read more

They charge 28 dollars for a quart of one of their sides (e.g. potato salad, coleslaw, etc. Outrageous when compared to other barbecue eateries. They want 48 dollars for a full rack of ribs. It is sad that they want to double the price of things since they have a new place. Won't be going back, thank god for Edleys. read more

Great place to stop for lunch in Red River. Everyone in family (9-65) were happy. Pics don't lie. The food was tasty, hot, quickly served and generously plated. Like a diner that serves Texas BBQ My wife and I had the BBQ Brisket and sausage platter. It was a LOT of meat for the price. It also came with coleslaw and beans. The kids ordered a hot dog and corn dog with fries and tots. Honestly, their food was better than ours. The fries and tots were amazing and the hot dog was a large beef frank - no tiny GFS/Sysco hot dog here. The staff was very friendly and mostly adhering to COVID-safe practices except 2 cooks in the back without masks. Also, free refills any time with their cups - but they close at 2pm, so this is a lunch only set-up. read more

Weekend before the 4th of July visit. Fantastic and friendly spot for families wishing to keep casual. We had a brisket sandwich and a chicken fried steak dinner. Brisket was tender, fries were crisp....the bun was excellent soft and pillowy. Very busy place, but the girl at the counter still managed to keep a smile on her face, and engage with each customer, as well as keep the line moving. There was a cold condiment stand with fixins for your sandwich which was kept very fresh and clean with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles. Overall good lunch time experience! read more
