My family and I have been here several times and every time we go, we absolutely love it. The meats are high quality and all of the kimchi sides taste great! My 6 year old daughter loves the fact that we can cook on our own grills. It's great for kids. Food: We ordered 39.99 BBQ combo, 9.99 tofu pot, and 13.95 seafood pancake. Quality: Tofu pot is the wrost the most expensive one i ever had. We order fish roe tofu pot but only see a pot w/ 70 % of tofu, 10% cucumber, and 15-20% of the fish roe. Not only the quantity, the taste is also plain too. I can even make a better one than they do. Price: In average, the price on the menu is about 2-3 dollars more every dish compare to other korean restaurants. Take the seafood pancake as an example, it is usually sold for 9.99 to 11.99, but they want 13.95. It doesn't taste better than others or have or larger size than others. Quanitiy: For BBQ, it's really really small, we ordered the $39.99 combo of beef, chicken, and spicy pork, sounds a lot , right? But i doubt if the total weight of the meat on the plate we got was even more than 2 pounds, which means we almost paid 20 dollars for one pound of meat presented on our table. HELLO?? What do you think u r providing? Kobe beef?? This is the most pricy korean BBQ i have ever been to. Service: The service was poor, the water cup was not filled and they never stopped by our table and asked if we are doing fine. Worst of all, they never even brought soy bean soup, which was part of the combo BBQ meal. But we were at a point don't want to remind them anymore cause they were extremely busy all the time since they only had 3 people running the store at the time we were there. Overall: Quality is authentic, except tofu pot, which is the wrost i ever had and they charge 9.99 for it. i was like WTF!!!.. We each ordered separate dish and added one order of galbi to share. So, they cooked galbi in the kitchen and brought it out. It was just ok, chewy and needed more seasoning. I grew up in Korea so I know how it should taste and how much it should cost. I tried to rationalize the price but come on. I remember price was more reasonable while back, and better service. This place is by far my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant. When I order to go, they painstakingly package every side dish (all 7 of them). Usually when I get Korean food to go, a few side dishes go missing but not Old Korean Villlage. When I stay to eat, I always feel so welcome. Once we lost track of time and stayed over half an hour past their closing, and they still serviced us wholeheartedly. When we were about to order more, they gently asked if it was okay to send it with us to go. Service aside, the food is top notch. This is by far the best Korean restaurant in the Shoreline area. If you are looking for quality meat and delicious side dishes, this is the place to be. Last Friday, I went to the Old Village Korean restaurant with some friends and ordered Galbi and Bulgogi to share. First, I was extremely impressed by the charcoal grills! I have been to many Korean BBQ places and this is the first to have actual charcoals, rather than the cheap, gas powered grills. In addition, I enjoyed the modern atmosphere of the restaurant. This restaurant is a great place for young adults, but also families. As a whole, I really have no complaints about this restaurant and will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu! read more

I have heard of many good reviews of Old Village, however, I have one of the most awful experience since I came in last time. They have a bell of calling the waiters, however, that generally takes 15 minutes for them to come. Also, the portion of the meat is too little for the price, if you are not coming for happy hour, one portion of meat is $25+, and it is just one type with no combo to choose with. This was my first time coming here after they changed ownership, and I gotta admit, the food here has gotten a lot better.....but pricier. Even though they do have lunch specials, the food is still pretty expensive. I had the extra spicy soondubu with kimchee and pork and it was really flavorful. I can't imagine eating bbq here because a lot of the meat items on the menu were around $30! I do appreciate the nice decor and presentation of the food. In terms of service, we did have to get the lady's attention a few times though but it was no big deal. Customer service is terrible. When flame came out, our coat was on fire. We freaked out. At that time, we rang the bell and waved to the servers, but nobody came until several minutes later. The worst thing is that when we paid the bill, we found that they charged us 18% mendatory tips. There is no way to pay that much money for this kind of service. I tried to argue with the server and the manager, both of them said "I'm sorry but I cannot do anything. You have to pay the 18% tip." I understand they are all workers, but they should use their work to convince us the service deserve that much, not by forcing customers to pay. read more

Old Village is a step up from the usual "hole in the wall" spots for korean food, it actually has some atmosphere and the service is friendly. The selection of free side dishes/appetizers that precede the meal tell the story, they are numerous and tasty. The spinach salad with kimchi dressing is my favorite. I was impressed that they have 3 different types of macarel selections. We had the alaskan and it was tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The spicy chicken was nothing special and could have crisper/spicier. The tofu/seafood soup was good but not great. The side dishes are what impressed me most. I will definitely go back and try other items, other diners were feasting on some interesting looking BBQ dishes. read more

Meh for a Korean place. I had kalbi dolsot (stone pot bibimbop) - tastes like it should, nothing special, but decent. Pan Chan was tasty but not enough choices, not much in volume. GF had bulgogi sundubu (beef tofu stew), pretty good stuff, eggy, pork-y, not too spicy, enough meat. She ate all the tubu, so I assume she liked it (she said it was like baby fat and baby skin... tender and juicy). If you get BBQ, expect to go into major credit card debt. If you just get regular dishes and have the kitchen cook rather than cook for yourself on the grill, $25 should do it for two people (not too bad). This place is on the pricer side which i don't mind if it's worth but this place is NOT worth. The side dishes are mediocre and the service is terrible. They also really like to charge you for every little thing. All Korean bqq places I've been give you unlimited salad with your meat but they charge you an extra 3 dollars.. i came around lunch and the place was not busy at all but not once did the waitress ask if everything was okay or come and fill our water cups. I've been here a few times and this is one of the best Korean barbecues I've been to (and I've been to many). Unlike most Korean barbecues, their tabletop grills use charcoal and I feel this adds for a better flavor and overall grilling experience. They have a very extensive menu and have many items besides grilling items. If you don't feel like cooking your own meal at the table you can get a "regular" table and have them cook it in the back. Some of the meats are fairly pricey but I can assure you that you will not leave hungry!! I went there with my roommate once and we bought their special, which is meant for two people, and we were both completely stuffed! I would highly recommend it if you want a variety of food and are extra hungry. read more

We went here for dinner tonight with my folks and my future in laws. I havent been here for about 5 years but it still looks about the same. Nice decor and friendly staff. We got the huge beef platter thats cooked at the table with a couple of soups. The food was delicious, the beef was very lean and fresh, soup was tasty and the waiter was pretty attentive. The only problem was the vent above the in-tablebbq wasnt working well and we were all sweatin bullets the whole freakin night, it felt like it was seriously 120 degrees, they aknowledged the vent had some problems but really did nothing to fix the problem. We live in Edmonds, and wanted to try other Korean restaurants in Shoreline. Banchan was limited and low quality. Soondoobu smelled funky. Cold noodle broth was not fresh. Extremely ignorant bad service. Servers are mean and looks having a super bad days so they just tried their best to annoying us. We firstly wait for like 20mins, and when finally got our table and ordered, server told us if we are not going to order two portions of BBQ we cannot stay at that BBQ table but a cold weird table. To say disappointed would be a complete understatement. On the Korean BBQ menu, the cheapest dishes come in at around $21.75, with the most expensive at around $36.00. After the order is placed, the waiter/waitress brings out a small house salad for every two plates of meat ordered, and by small, it is a typical 6" serving bowl filled roughly 2/3 of the way. And this is only if you spend (at a minimum) $43.50 for dishes such as BBQ Chicken or Beef Brisket. With five dishes ordered as a group, all the different types of meat came out on a single plate, and the portion sizes were stingy. Coming in at around 3/4 pound of meat per order, the price is nowhere near justifiable. The only upside of the restaurant was the unlimited sides, but those were just average. The service itself was pretty bad. Multiple orders were forgotten, and additional orders would only be brought out after reminding the waiter/waitress a second time. The restaurant itself was not busy, but multiple people were attempting to serve tables, which is likely where the lack of communication was. All in all, they weren't very attentive to customers. read more

They're not trying to be a high end fancy place and sometimes service can suck. Plus some plces look run down and old. But this place surprised me since it was clean, looked modern, and pretty spacious for a Korean restaurant. We ordered Kal-bi which is mjy favorite and it was SO DELICIOUS and tender. Craving Korean so came here with the parents. Service was very friendly and prompt. Seating was very comfortable and spacious. We ordered some jap chae, tofu stew, bulgogi, and some short rib stew. The side dishes were okay. Nothing impressive. Parents seemed to enjoy the tofu stew and short rib stew. I thought the jap chae was a bit overly sweet. Bulgogi was also a little too sweet but good. It was missing something from it...perhaps we should have gotten it grilled at the table instead of on the sizzling platter. What is interesting is how much less expensive the lunch menu is compared to the dinner menu. We're talking perhaps 1 : 2.3 in the case of gal bi selections. My family goes all the time, and for the most part was love this place. But we have 2 big pet peeves with how this restaurant operates. First, the service is very slow. The servers are all pretty friendly, but it seems like they are constantly short-staffed. Second, they never bring out the banchan while we are waiting for the food.
