Found this place while searching for best brunch (in Grapevine) on Yelp. It shows up as number 1 on the list. We arrived at 9a on a Sunday, we were seated promptly at a booth. This restaurant has a huge 'fun' factor, from its kitchy western decor, to its LONG list of 'breakfast sides' which includes cinnamon rolls, yogurt parfait and oatmeal! And there's the chicken-fried-chicken with QUESO on top, sour cream and red onion! I would definitely bring out-of-towners here. Why go to Cracker Barrel when you can go to Old West? The cinnamon bun was amazing! I've also had their blueberry lemon and chocolate chip pancakes. Pancakes are HUGE and delicious! And the biscuits with sausage gravy were AMAZINGLY soft and tender, yum!! My wife and I split the Wrangler, a large sampler which was more than enough food for both of us. As far as I can tell, this restaurant is always busy (for good reason) and they don't have a call-ahead list or online waitlist; they will take your number and text you when your table is ready. My family of five didn't have anything we didn't absolutely love. My husband is a chicken fried steak guy and he said this was the best he's had. My son was more than satisfied with his chicken fried chicken. I debated on what flavor pancake to get and finally landed on the peach cobbler with a promise from our white that is I didn't love it, she's bring me a buttermilk. I'm so glad I did I ordered it as it was my favorite on the menu. The wait time was kind of long, but expected for a Sunday. We signed in and took a drive down Main Street to see historic downtown, then checked out the botanical gardens. The wait list link helped uskeep track and we made our way back just in time. With over 1300 reviews, I'm not sure that I can add any value. And with an average of 4.5 stars, clearly they're doing something right! The biggest challenge to this location, is finding a place to park! It's always busy, and one might describe it as crowded... which also tells you a lot about this place! Note: this is one year into the Covid thing, and still busy / crowded! We share the old west omelette, because it's huge... not sure how any one person could possibly eat it! Along with a hash brown casserole and the cinnamon toast, and incredible meal! I think you would be hard-pressed to find anything on their menu that isn't a large portion, well prepared, and very tasty. Great breakfast. We got in about 8am and by 8:30 it was backed wall to wall. The police were here so that should tell you it's good. I would hit up a 4 star but it is a fairly typical diner breakfast overall. White flour and starch type food. The biscuits and gravy were just "ok" but certainly not on an excellent level from a taste and texture perspective. Restaurant rustic looking but know it's been there for a long time. Server was terrific. Food, not so much. My husband got chicken fried steak and I got chicken fried chicken. Both were way over cooked. When cutting, the super crunchy over fried coating broke off and they were both tasteless. Mashed potatoes and cream gravy was good. The other side, a casserole with melted cheese on top, looked old. The cheese was congealed, about 1/4 " thick and had wrinkles in it like it had been covered with Saran Wrap some time. read more

Amazing little gem just off the beaten path in downtown Grapevine. Got here at 1:30 and they said as long as you were on the waitlist before 2pm they still serve. Staff was friendly for the most part, (hostess stand had 2 younger kids that probably could use some teaching with manners ) Waitress was pleasant and helpful. Our food came out relatively quick and all of it was hot and cooked perfectly. Apologies for the not-so-pretty pictures..... we were starving and I forgot to take them. I came here to pick up my order and the place was packed. I noticed that they have limited parking as well. I ordered their old fashioned pancake with a side of Turkey bacon and eggs w/jalapeños. The pancake was huge, chewy and yummy. The syrup tasted like the generic ones from the store. I had salsa with the eggs and jalapeño which was good. I wish the jalapeños were mixed into the eggs rather than being added after the eggs were done. The to go order came in a cardboard box which was different.
