Our experience with Old World Brick Paving has been wonderful and our new patio addition and fire pit have really added to our back yard experience and value. I contacted Frank to see if they would take on this relatively small job and we set a date for him to see the site and price it out. Frank took the time to explain how OWBP's work was different from the rest and that their materials and workmanship were top quality. I got one other estimate from a landscaping & paver company, and although it was less than OWBP, their details, care, and knowledge of the product were all lacking. OWBP promised a deeper foundation with more compressed levels of stone and a better locking sand layer - even though it was just a fire pit and patio, and not a heavily used walkway or driveway. We paid a one-third deposit and got our spot on their job schedule. I pulled the village permit, and when Frank called that we were next - we were ready to start. Despite dodging a few days of rain, the whole job took 3 days; just as promised. Edgar and his crew of 4 or 5 dug the patio circle by hand and transported the dirt by wheelbarrow to their loader in the front. With our fenced yard, they couldn't fit a Bobcat or similar mechanical diggers into the back. The gravel and sand were brought in the same way on wheelbarrows. Our village wanted an inspection after the gravel was compressed and before any pavers went down. After that, the sand came in, was compressed, and the laying of the pavers began. The crew took pains to extend the complicated Unilock pattern from our existing patio right through to the new addition, seamlessly. Edgar was easy to work with and took direction from me well. He also came up with some design ideas on his own. These guys really knew the material and were a great team. The transition of the patterns from new to old patios was crucial with our sailor-course color continuing around the entire perimeter. The team definitely succeeded there! Although our original gray pavers have faded some over the last 8 years - a good power washing will make them match the new ones perfectly. The crew always arrived on time and kept a neat work area. I would definitely recommend Old World Brick Paving to anyone planning a paver project. After doing research on Angie's List and reviewing projects that Old World has done nearby, we hired the company to replace our concrete patio with a brick patio and also to do some water proofing. Frank Calistro and his team at Old World Brick Paving exceeded our very high expectations. Their paver brick patios are the best constructed that we have seen. As Frank explained clearly when he came to provide his estimate, Old World makes sure not to skimp on materials in putting down a good base. Then they use top-grade pavers and other materials. I would encourage you to visit their website, which details the process they use. You will find they go far beyond what many, if not every, competitor can offer. Frank's team on site, led by Damian, executed our plan to perfection. Damian and the other work crew members communicated with us professionally, and Damian also dealt expertly with village inspectors. Whenever we needed to speak with Frank, we could reach him easily -- I don't think we ever waited more than 30 minutes for a call back from him at any point in the entire process. To make sure the project was finished on schedule, Frank himself came out to the site to complete some of the water-proofing work, at a moment's notice on a Saturday. Our only concern was that some oil from their machinery accidentally dripped on our existing concrete sidewalk and driveway, creating stains, but Damian and Frank both went to great lengths to remediate that problem. The real test, of course, is how well the patio endures. Having seen a driveway that Old World constructed five years ago, and which remains in perfect condition, we are confident that we will enjoy this investment for a long time to come. read more

He was the only one of the several estimate we received who mentioned this was the cause. Once he pulled up a few bricks, it was obvious he was right. Frank made suggestions about how to repair the patio and enhance the quality at the same time. He was very knowledgeable and not ridiculously expensive. The two workers showed up first thing in the morning and transformed our patio into a state which looks better than it did originally. The patio is perfectly level and all of the problem spots have been corrected. The quality of the work by the employees was superior to that of other people I have had do work around the house. The pavers have been tightly packed together again and the patio just blows me away. The guys were very respectful and even fixed a few things they did not need to. If you are look at putting a new patio in or get your patio repaired, I would highly recommend Old World Brick Paving. You will not be disappointed in the work or the finished product. read more

Great experience and worth the money, no doubt. First of all I can tell you that Scott was very upfront and low pressure. He was one of the few contractors that offered up a digital rendering of the final product and worked with my wife and I answering all our questions. They worked with me on price for my budget and worked on design, the whole process was very smooth. When we accepted David was the supervisor of the job, he walked me through everything and answered all my questions. I am very weary of contractors and their promises, I can only say that this company held true to everything they promised. There was a mistake made on one level of the porch, I sent David a picture and he got back to me in minutes and promised his guys would be out to correct it, true to his word Monday morning 3 guys showed up corrected the problem. This was after we had payed them, no hassle, true professional. I know its a lot of money and for my family it was a source of concern "being taken" by a bad contractor. My husband and I are very pleased with our experience with Old World Brick Paving. I would give them six stars if I could. My wife and I purchased our house two years ago and we have done a lot of work on it since them. We have had some terrible experiences and some great experiences with the contractors we have worked with and Old World Brick Paving sits at the top of the latter. This summer we had them: (i) tear out old broken concrete and bricks on our walkway and patio in our backyard; (ii) install new brick work on the walkway and patio; (iii) remove a tree stump and them fill in, grade and sod our back lawn. Not only was everything done extremely well, it was done extremely quickly. Greg Waters, Frank and the entire team were incredibly professional and simply a pleasure to work with. From the beginning Greg held our hand throughout the process, answered our many questions, and rolled with our many requests (where possible). He and Frank made us feel like a part of their family and took great care of us throughout the entire time we worked with them. I cannot express how impressed and satisfied we are with every aspect of Old World Brick Paving. From the estimate to the work to the customer service, they are outstanding. We are thrilled with the finished product! Frank and his staff are kind, responsive and do excellent work. Our patio was thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed, resanded and an oil based sealer was applied. Frank fully explained the difference between water and oil based sealing. Be aware that not all companies offer oil based sealers. We chose oil based as it lasts longer and requires less maintenance. We are so pleased! In addition to the quality of their work, the staff is the epitome of customer service. We were treated so nicely! For example, due to health issues, my husband and I were unable to move our patio furniture back after the project was completed. Frank sent staff back out to move it back for us! work started when promised and continued every day until complete. Work was for removal of old concrete driveway (over 100 feet long), removal of garage floor, and addition of dirt in portion not replaced by new brick work. Owner, Frank, did some of the initial concrete removal in order to get job done on time. Excellent quality of brick and installation. We had OWBP come in a second time to enlarge part of the driveway. Cost was very reasonable. We employed them again a week ago to clean and seal the driveway which was again done in a very good manner. They do honor their warranty and make corrections as needed, in one case we were not aware of the problem. Excellent company without question. read more
