The food, the service and the atmosphere are worth praising. We were in town for only four days and made it here twice. We were greeted with smiles. The place was busy but that did not affect service or quality. The burgers are delicious as were the onion rings, the soup, and the salads. So if you decide to eat at olde heritage tavern be aware of joes loud friend that will prevent you from having a nice meal with your significant other. As soon as we sat down the loud obnoxious behavior at the table behind us unbearable. The waitress was clearly aware and embarrassed at the fact she couldn't hear our drink order. She said that she told the owner that the "gentleman" behind us was being obnoxiously loud and he did absolutely nothing. We paid for our drinks and we went down the road to Mazzcots where the service is exceptional they have never let us down. BTW Old Heritage Tavern we are locals so guess what? Lenox has a reputation for hosting some pretty tony restaurants. The Olde Heritage Tavern isn't one of them. What you've got here is a pub, slightly seedy looking inside, that serves up generous portions of some very tasty food at pretty cheap prices, honestly. If you're looking for good eats and not the pretentious atmosphere, this place is for real. And the waitresses are friendly and quick, too. The Baked French Onion Soup was crammed with onions, bursting with flavor and a thick cheese topping. The tuna for the salad, made at the restaurant, was just right for us, with only a little mayonnaise, served over a bed of fine lettuce (not iceberg, thank goodness). Add in solid selection of beers and you have a splendid lunch and four stars from us. Recommended! read more

This is a tavern in every sense of the word - a bar that serves food but you would take your family to...at least before 9pm most nights. They have music sometimes and the food is good to very good, depending what you get. Dine like the locals in the Berkshires at the Olde Heritage. A noisy atmosphere, erratic service and occasional good food are the standard experience here. The prices can't be beat, and burger night is a real bargain. Just be patient with the wait staff and the kitchen because once the summer begins, they can't keep up with the rush. read more

Only one waitress working outside on a beautiful Sunday night. Sat at the "tree" which was cool. Ordered after a good amount of wait time and then waited an hour for our food. My kids and husband thought their food was ok, but my pulled pork seemed like it was under the warmer too long, thought I was happy that they had gluten free bun options. I can't believe the rave reviews this place has received. The only reason I put stars on my review is the helpful, hardworking and genuine staff. That said, the food is awful. I would call it barely edible. I went once last summer and thought I would never come again but I found myself, yesterday, between shows at Shakespeare and Company, dealing with the tightness of my purse and the traffic generated by Tanglewood. I should have tried one of the tonier restaurants but a newspaper review describing long lines (there were none when I walked past) turned me off. First of all, the food is not particularly cheap. It's not expensive but, for the quality, it is not cheap. Second, while I don't remember what I had last summer, I do remember saying never again. Yesterday, I had a steak sandwich which came with the universal accompaniment, fries. The steak had a lot of tendon in it. If I wasn't given a serrated knife, I would not have been able to chew it. The fries were unsalted (not a criticism usually for me as I dislike the taste of salt) but salting fries while they are hot guarantees the salt will melt and flavor the potatoes. Adding salt to cold fries does nothing and these were stone cold. They were over-cooked as well. However, the wait staff was constantly in motion, filling the liquor supply, connecting new beer lines, talking to customers. Two waitresses attempted to take my order and I sat at the bar. I complimented the second as well as informing her that I had already placed my order. I left a large tip and wrote "great wait staff" on my bill. read more

Not sure if it's always like this, but our experience was awful. Got there and it was packed, not surprising for a holiday weekend. We're told it would be a 30 minute wait for a table. No problem. 30 minutes come and go, with no host/hostess managing the process of seating people. There were three different waitstaff that were writing parties names down on a scrap of paper. At 45 minutes, a group that arrived 20 minutes after us got seated so we asked about a table. The poor waitress looked at the scrape of paper and said we were next although there were still people above us on the list not crossed off. At 55 minutes, we were seated. One of the same waitstaff that was dealing with hosting ended up being our waitress. We sat there for 10 minutes before she got around to taking our drink orders. Not entirely her fault, as it looked like she was responsible for waiting on at least 7 other tables in our area as well as dealing the mess of seating people. We ordered our food another 10 minutes later and continued to watch the debacle of them trying to seat people. Our food came out in decent time and was mediocre at best. I had a crispy chicken wrap, which was good, although very heavy on the lettuce. It came with potato chips out of a bag. My husband got the lemon pepper chicken as his third choice, because they were out of fish & chips and pulled pork. The "seasonal vegetable" with his meal was corn that was clearly frozen or canned. We left an hour and 45 minutes after first walking in. The management of this place needs to invest some time into figuring out their hosting setup, as the random scrap of paper and waitstaff doing it aren't working. The waitstaff were doing their best, but seemed destined to fail tonight given the setup they had to work with. Overall, a pretty bad experience and we won't be back. read more

Searched for food to eat on a downpour of a night last weekend October 2-3 returning a hotel stay in Lenox. I thought we got lucky to find this establishment, but when we returned to our hotel with food from here, we were met with disappointment. We ordered take out that included fish and chips (dry overcooked and hard), chicken quesadilla (dry), chicken wings (dry overcooked). You know what? My wife and I were starving, at a vulnerable state where it's possible to make impulsive decisions. Parking is tricky in Lenox but we managed to find a spot right in town. We saw the Heritage tavern and I thought to myself "I want to eat somewhere where I can get a beer" so we went in there for lunch. It was great! Casual atmosphere, college football playing on a couple of tv's. They had a good selection of beer on tap. I grabbed an IPA and got the pulled pork sandwich. They make their own BBQ sauce and it was fantastic. Side of sweet potato fries. My wife got a chicken wrap she said it was great. The bottom line is, if you're looking for a quick bite where you can grab a couple of beers and spend $30-40 for a couple of people - this is the place. Love the hot wing dip app, Heritage Wings, ALL of the soups (hot wing, chowder, baked onion, and award winning chili), steak sandwich, 1/2 pound burger, and steaks. Old Heritage is a reliable stop in Lenox. Great for families, patient with children, and they have an excellent kids menu. Onion soup is perfect on a cold day. There is nothing worse than having COLD fries, we ate the food at a park, so could mike the fries.
