Looked up yelp to find a nice restaurant in the Racine area and we came across a wonderful review for Olde Madrid. After getting lost a few times we circled the block and finally found parking. We were looking forward to dinner the minute we stepped into the restaurant the aroma was enticing! We ordered our seafood paella as soon as we sat down to allow for cooking time our appetizers ended up coming out after the Paella but were enjoyed just the same. My husband lived in Madrid and Barcelona so he knows tapas. Ordered meatballs in almond sauce: melt in your mouth, no filler, Delicious!! And the pulpo al gallego....sauce was superb. Super good. They evidently don't take reservations so we arrived at 4:30 on a Saturday as they opened. Not long after the place was full. Not a huge place so seating fills quickly. Very good service and everything we had was really good. Would ago again anytime and try more things. read more

This place was amazing. We drove almost an hour because my woman said it was worth it. Spanish food made fresh with a great date ambiance. Way more food than you expect so plan on sharing dishes. We ordered carryout from Olde Madrid last week and could not have been more pleased! Everything was delicious! It definitely would have been even better had we been willing to *dine in*, but we are not there yet. They did an OUTSTANDING job of making our To Go meal the best it could be. My husband and I could not stop raving about how good it was! Best part? We were so full from the steak and shrimp dishes that we had no room for the gumbo, so we got a bonus meal! Olde Madrid always has excellent service! Their food is delicious on most nights. I've had burnt crab cakes a couple of times and once we had a beef dish (tacos maybe-can't remember) that was dry. Always hard to decide what to order because so many great choices! The restaurant is always busy and there will be a wait, no problem. Downside-no where to wait! Bar is very small and becomes very crowded with the bathrooms and the staff going back and forth to kitchen. read more

Are daughter took my wife, son and I to Olde Madrid when we were visiting her in Kenosha. I don't recall the exact names but we had chorizo sausage, meetball dish and a couple others and we finished with a rice, peas, carrots w/shrimp and chicken dish...sorry don't remember the names....but they were all delicious. The food was outstanding and so was the service/staff. Highly recommend if you are in Racine to stop by for a meal. read more

Starting off... I am not an adventurous eater and I was a little nervous coming here for the first time. But I'm SO glad that I did. Every single tapa we ordered was delicious. The flavors were so well concocted and paired well together. I personally loved the chicken with cherries. However, the paella was also excellent. My seafood loving partner adored the gumbo, as well. Beware because this place is packed on the weekends - expect to wait - and the waiting area is quite cramped. Once you get past the curtain though into the dining room, you'll be treated to a truly unique experience nestled where you least expect it in Wisconsin. In addition to the food, the decor adds a lot to the total package. Everything feels authentic and perfectly placed. Go with friends and try as much as you can! The nice selection of seafood entrees is what brought me here for dinner with my sister. Started off with complimentary baguettes and hummus. The server let us sample the red and white sangria to determine which we wanted to order, we both opted for the white, which was as very yummy! We shared each dish since it's more of a tapas style restaurant. Started off spinach & mushroom empanadas, that were warm on the outside and cold inside:( then proceeded with seafood gumbo minus the chicken and chorizo. The lemon was so overwhelming that I only had a few scoops. Our last item was the best, it's the shrimp stew(I believe)! It has shrimp, saffron rice, tomatoes, onions, chick peas, potatoes with a curry base. I had several scoops of that. I could've order that and the sangria and been good to go, so if I return that's exactly what I will do! read more

A must taste. Excellent food. Paella's and the gumbo are always my go to. One of the best foods in Racine.

I love their Paella! Have not been disappointed with any other meals there. I've always had good service there. My husband and I did go there on Valentine's Day once and it was packed and the wait was long but that was understandable because of the celebration. The food was great! The service was slow. They also tabulated my bill wrong (over charged). I had to send it back twice before it came back correct. It was okay that they had to redo it. But the part that I did not like is the waitresses attitude when I told her that it was incorrect the second time. It was not a small overcharge, it was $12. So enjoy the food. Be ready to wait and check your bill before paying. Even after the first experience noted above, a friend recommended that we meet there for dinner. So I went anyway despite my prior experience. My friend was running late so I was not initially concerned with waiting to be acknowledged. But after 25 minutes of waiters walking past me and not acknowledging me, I waved one down who took another 10 minutes to wait on me. Then after that, they had a large party seated and it took forever for our food. The waiter came back and asked me what I had because he forgot. So my friend got her food way before I did. If you are in the Racine. WI area & you have a taste for Spanish tapas, go to this restaurant. Their bread with hummus was a good start followed by the delicious crab cakes with remoulade sauce. We followed that with a huge portobello mushroom stuffed with red & green peppers topped with melted Spanish cheese which was wonderful. Serendipity brought us together! A day of beer tasting at the Belle City Brewfest in Racine left me hungering for something substantial before my drive back home to Gurnee. Located downtown in Racine, Olde Madrid was a surprise of a restaurant in the land of cheese curds, brats, and beer. It was only 4:10 in the afternoon, and the place opened at 4:30. I parked at a meter and waited in my car on this brisk afternoon. As we waited, we noticed that people started gathering and forming a line in front of the restaurant. We thought we'd better join the queue just as well by 4:20, and I'm glad I did. We were among the first to be seated, but by 4:40 all of the tables were taken. The place had simple but Spanish themed interior and was buzzing with servers and a hostess. We tried a glass of their house red sangria which was excellent! Since it's a tapas menu, we also ordered about 5 different sharable plates, some based on the recommendations of our server. Overall the food was very good, but there were some hits and some misses. The meal starts out with a basket of bread and a mildly spiced chickpea dip on the house. This was fine. We tried the pastelillos: fried zucchini and potato pancakes and the duck croquetas: duck, mushroom and cheese fritters. These sounded more delicious than they tasted because the fat in the fryer used to cook them wasn't fresh. The fritters had the taste of multiple foods cooked before. Pulpo a la Gallega was a delicious standout with a generous portion of tender octopus in olive oil, paprika and salt. The Catalan scallops, a decent portion of scallops in a mushroom cream sauce over egg noodles, were a recommendation from the waiter. These were tasty and creamy, but ultimately uninteresting. I'm a bit of a stickler for any pasta dish which isn't evenly sauced across the portion, and this wasn't. They gave me a bit of a "so what?" feeling overall. We loved the date salad with goat cheese and balsamic over field greens, however. By this time, we were full and ready to go. There was a wait to get into the place. I'm still a fan of Olde Madrid for the simple fact that service was friendly, food came out promptly, and they're trying really hard to offer something different for the area. The menu is varied enough for multiple visits without repetition. Some of the house specialties like the seafood gumbo and the multiple varieties of paella looked great. read more

We haven't been here for a while and boy am I sorry. This place is phenomenal. We were joined by another couple and wanted to go early enough to miss the rush. So we walked in at 5:20 on a Saturday night pushed ourselves up through the crowd to the check in and were told there was a one hour wait. Ok, we found a local bar and entertained ourselves for an hour. Nice thing is they take your cellphone and will call you when your table is available. That's really nice. Finally seated we ordered a pitcher of sangria and put in an order for the paella, menu advises you to allow 25 minutes for the paella. Next we ordered 4 tapas. This is where they shine. The Duck Croquetas was over the top delicious, my only regret was that I had to share them with my other companions. Mama Chuy's Bistec was very good but steak and pico de Gallo can be had a lot of places. There are so many innovative things on the tapas menu that you would want to try first. Almond Meatballs with white cream sauce, almonds, and sauté mushrooms is one of the reasons I shared my Duck Croquetas. Wow, its criminal that tapas are small plates. Fourth Tapas for our table was toasted goat cheese with toasted baguettes. Fabulous. When I return, and it will be soon, we decided to stick with multiple Tapas and forget the Paella. Paella was "ok". Not much protein. Supposed to feed the table but with 4 shrimp total, minimal dry chicken cubes and hard to see chorizo I'll skip it next time and and be adventuresome with the Tapas. Staff was great, ambiance great, service great. My best advice is to get the Tapas. read more
