We love Ole & Steen! However now the bread we always get Christianhavner has raised in prices to $9.95! Now it is even more crucial to get the bread loyalty card! Hubby is hooked to their bread and we wouldn't buy from anywhere else.

Fair prices, plenty of indoor seating, and very friendly and efficient staff. Shoutout to the male Asian barista who got my entire group's pastry and drink orders and got us checked out in record time. He was hustling!! I also appreciated the abundance of seating since so many spaces now seem to prioritize getting customers in and out instead of creating community spaces. I really enjoyed the chocolate social (would've been perfect if we had the option to order it warmed up), and the latte was solid but the espresso was really overpowered by the milk.

I didn't realize that this was a New York thing, but it is all around the city. I tried the kloben bun as this was highly recommended and I particularly didn't love it since it tasted too healthy. It was heavy on the cardamom and too perfume heavy for me. I also tried the matcha pumpkin drink and the quality of matcha was not the best. It was more on the milky side and little flavor.

They were out of hot chocolate. Black coffee tasted old/burnt. Cute couches, but disappointing, this. See fly flying around. If any of the pastries I collected are amazing, I'll definitely repost! Sigh-- Update: this croissant-like pinkish roll thing with dark chocolate in it is indeed delicious! It's like a roll with just a bit of dark chocolate, not too heavy. Copenhagener-- giant shell of poppy seeds, no cream. Did they forget? So weird. You must really like poppy seeds. See pic of interior giant hole. Cinnamon social- too gooey/sweet sweet for my taste. I'm not sure what to make of this place.

The customer service definitely earned them the 5 stars. I thought the gentlemen working this morning were very hospitable. I ordered the kloben bun, the chocolate social and a spiced pumpkin latte. All were delicious! The spiciness of the cardamom really comes through in the kloben bun. The chocolate social makes me think of babka bread but it's better. There's a slight fudgy chocolate layer. The latte was not too sweet and tasted like they used real pumpkin (I forget what it said it was made with). They have a decent amount of seating and it's fairly spacious inside.

cute danish bakery and coffee shop with comfy seating in the back! (note wifi is not the best) tried the copenhagen pastry, was good, lightly sweetened and tons of poppy seeds! the workers here were so friendly and helped start my day off on a bright note! will come back to try the cinnamon social pastry and latte.

Ole and Steen is definitely pricey for my limited budget. I can't help but say I'm definitely returning for more of the delicious pastries. When I saw Rye with chocolate! I had to have it. The shift manager and every employee I spoke to was so friendly and helpful. It was a great experience. They have two restrooms in the back and plenty of seats. The place was full of customers enjoying their coffee. They serve Counter Culture Coffee! They open pretty early so I'll get here early. I'm definitely going to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and delicious food and coffee. This is a great addition to my old neighborhood. I lived across the street on 87th Street for years! I'm recommending!

Clean and spacious interior. Helpful and amazing staff. I ordered the latte which was okay, more on the milky side. Lots of pastry options. Skagen Roll was decent as well.

Thank you Cayla for suggesting Ole & Steen where I have been going since they first opened. This weekend, Fastelavn, is being celebrated in Denmark and also Scandinavia. It is the day to use up all the sugar and flour to make pastries for carnival before Lent begins. Out of four choices, I had the Vanilla Cream Bun which resembled a cake with large puffs of whipped cream in the middle and a tiny chocolate decoration with more cresm on top. When I cut it to eat the bun tasted like puff pastry that had hardened a bit and the cream was vanilla tinged. It was rich and I kept half to eat later. It was expensive at $8+change. I managed not to faint. The servers were happy that I came as a Yelp attendee. Several customers were enjoying pastries. It was bright with plenty of seating.

    Chocolate bun and sourdough roll

Happy to have ole and steen in the neighborhood. The quality of baked goods definitely appears more elevated than LPQ in the area. There's a lot of people behind the counter who keep things moving and give helpful advice. My wife and I ordered the chocolate chip bun and a sourdough roll. The chocolate bun was bready and filled with chocolate chips though a bit dry. The sourdough roll had a crisp exterior and was quite tasty with butter. We will definitely go back as the best thing we had there was a free sample of their flourless chocolate cake. It was moist, chocolatey, light and not too sweet. Divine! Also their oat milk lattes are some of the best I've had.. but a bit pricey.

We got the Banter Bowl, which includes pickled carrot, cabbage, watermelon radish, cucumber, edamame, avocado, quinoa, and miso ponzu dressing. You have a choice of meats, so we chose the grilled chicken. Second, we ordered the falafel bowl that includes three falafels, pickled onions, avocado, cucumber, whipped garlic feta, kale salad, romesco, and Za'atar dressing that had a delicious flavor. However, our ultimate favorite had to be the Thai Crunch Wrap with sweet potato fries. It was fairly busy, and our drinks took a while to come, but the food arrived shortly after. The next time I'm back, I will be sure to reorder the Thai crunch wrap. If you have food allergies, they are extremely accommodating and have numerous vegan/vegetarian/GF.

Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
