Our cake, which I think is called 'Raspberry Slice' was moist, delicious and better-tasting than my photo leads you to believe. You may wonder where raspberry comes into play; a layer of fruit-spread tops the cake. The lemon poppy seed muffin, heated with a dab of butter, was great with morning coffee. Located right off the 4,5 trains, Ole and Steen provides a space for commuters to sit and enjoy a pastry before heading home. It's a lovely space to read or get some work done, as they offer plenty of tables and bar seating. There's even a lounge at the center of the room. I've tried a few items from this bakery, and by far my absolute favorite is their chocolate swirl. I ask for it to be served warm (although it's not meant to be, as one staff member pointedly informed me), and the chocolate gets so nice and melty, the dough gooey yet crispy on the outside. I will say, although this location does have a drinks menu, I wouldn't recommend getting a drink here. I once ordered a chai latte for $8 and was disappointed to see the server pour it straight from the carton. The latte itself was diluted, and I didn't feel like it was worth the money. Come here for the pastries, and if you feel a bit parched, get the bottled drinks from their fridge instead. Their lemonades are lovely. read more

This is a great location for this coffee shop. It's right near subways and bus stops. So people on their way to work can stop in for their morning coffee. This is a bigger coffee shop and has many seating options to sit and enjoy your coffee and pastries. I did not try any of the pastries but it all looks soo good. Shoutout to the male Asian barista who got my entire group's pastry and drink orders and got us checked out in record time. He was hustling!! I also appreciated the abundance of seating since so many spaces now seem to prioritize getting customers in and out instead of creating community spaces. I didn't realize that this was a New York thing, but it is all around the city. I tried the kloben bun as this was highly recommended and I particularly didn't love it since it tasted too healthy. It was heavy on the cardamom and too perfume heavy for me. I also tried the matcha pumpkin drink and the quality of matcha was not the best. I used to love the scones you sold back a couple of years ago, maybe around 2 to 3 years ago. They were crunchy and yummy. I visited your location on Lexington this week ( July 2026) and I have noticed on many occasions, you ran out of the Blue Berry scones. I was so disappointed. The Jalapeño scones by the way suck and that's why they are the only ones available. It seems like many folks do not like the Jalapeño scones. I asked some of the young associates serving why the blue berry scones are not available and they looked so dumbfounded. I remember taking a class on supply and demand, maybe you should sell what is more popular if you want to stay in business and also train your staff on customer service. You cannot have associates rolling their eyes or looking disinterested when you ask them questions. You need to have a Manager on site who can answer difficult questions and make customers want to come back. read more

Prices have risen but the product is good and the team here does a consistently nice job.

I have been going here once a week for the last five months. I love the cardamom bun. The last several times I have been there, they keep trying to charge $5.45 for a cardamom bun, despite the sign saying it is $4.95. Then they say the price has changed. This is a major bakery chain. If they are raising prices, they need new signs. The same $4.95 signs remain after two months of them telling me the price has changed. This is shady. Otherwise, I agree with others that this location seems a little messy. read more

The customer service definitely earned them the 5 stars. I thought the gentlemen working this morning were very hospitable. I ordered the kloben bun, the chocolate social and a spiced pumpkin latte. All were delicious! The spiciness of the cardamom really comes through in the kloben bun. The chocolate social makes me think of babka bread but it's better. There's a slight fudgy chocolate layer. The latte was not too sweet and tasted like they used real pumpkin (I forget what it said it was made with). They have a decent amount of seating and it's fairly spacious inside. read more

Ole and Steen is definitely pricey for my limited budget. I can't help but say I'm definitely returning for more of the delicious pastries. When I saw Rye with chocolate! I had to have it. The shift manager and every employee I spoke to was so friendly and helpful. It was a great experience. They have two restrooms in the back and plenty of seats. The place was full of customers enjoying their coffee. They serve Counter Culture Coffee! They open pretty early so I'll get here early. I never thought I'd be reviewing a bakery but this one near my office is worth the effort. The interior of the place is inviting and spacious, surrounded by large window panes that welcome the warmth of the sun. Upon entering, the colorful and creative pastries on display always catch my eye, and I can never say no to the samples. I always get their lattes, so often that it's a waste not to collect points via their app. Service is always topnotch, especially from the kind gentleman who always takes my order with a friendly smile! If I'm in the neighborhood, this is one of my favorite stops. It was quiet around 4ish and I was quickly browsing the counter for the pastries. I was disappointed to find out that they ran out of Copenhagener (pastry with poppy seed and almond paste). I highly recommend this and this is my go-to pastry. I decided to go with a new pastry I haven't seen before, caramel apple tart. Since there was no line I quickly paid and was on my way. As soon as I was home I enjoyed the pastry. Thank you Cayla for suggesting Ole & Steen where I have been going since they first opened. This weekend, Fastelavn, is being celebrated in Denmark and also Scandinavia. It is the day to use up all the sugar and flour to make pastries for carnival before Lent begins. Out of four choices, I had the Vanilla Cream Bun which resembled a cake with large puffs of whipped cream in the middle and a tiny chocolate decoration with more cresm on top. When I cut it to eat the bun tasted like puff pastry that had hardened a bit and the cream was vanilla tinged. It was rich and I kept half to eat later. It was expensive at $8+change. I managed not to faint. The servers were happy that I came as a Yelp attendee. Several customers were enjoying pastries. It was bright with plenty of seating. read more

Happy to have ole and steen in the neighborhood. The quality of baked goods definitely appears more elevated than LPQ in the area. There's a lot of people behind the counter who keep things moving and give helpful advice. My wife and I ordered the chocolate chip bun and a sourdough roll. The chocolate bun was bready and filled with chocolate chips though a bit dry. The sourdough roll had a crisp exterior and was quite tasty with butter. We will definitely go back as the best thing we had there was a free sample of their flourless chocolate cake. It was moist, chocolatey, light and not too sweet. Divine! I am really torn with this review because on one hand the cinnamon social pastry was actually insanely good and I would 100% go back for that as I think about it sometimes. But the coffee was really not great at all, it was so dark and defintely had been way too hot and breading for too long that it because soooo bitter. I'll come back for the pastries! I tried this place for the first time today. They were giving away free cinnamon socials for their grand opening! I also got a stamp card for 5 free drip coffees. The people working behind the counter were very nice and helpful. The space is clean and bright. The cinnamon social was as delicious as you'd expect. I'm not sure if they have an option to warm it up, but that would have made it that much more delicious. I have been here a few times. It is a new location and I am glad for it. Not many true bakeries in the area. Service is prompt. The place has bar seating along the windows. It is very busy with a revolving door of customers on a Sunday. The spinach swirl is very buttery and I like that pastry is savory. This is my go to. They have a soft chocolate bun which is exactly as described. I bought it for my toddler, who really liked and perked up after a traumatizing time at the dentist. Basically she just had a 5 min cleaning but she's 2.5 yo., so it was traumatizing. Soft chocolate bun fixed that ! read more

Went in for a hot bowl of tomato soup. Had it many times before and it is quite delicious. Served usually with a nice slice of bread to dip. This time, the girl who was cleaning up and doing the trash happened to help me. Rather than washing her hands prior to handling the food and ladle for the soup, she opted to put on plastic gloves. Kinda gross so far. She then rang up the order and waited to see if I tipped her. After seeing no tip applied to the total, she grabbed the soup bowl by sticking her plastic gloved hand into the bowl and pulled it towards her so she could add two measly remnants of bread to my order. Can't say that I'll ever go back to that location, but they do have good soup... :( read more

ZERO STARS‼Stale cinnamon buns. Bad cappuccino and Americano. Both coffees are anemic in taste.
