While visiting Niners Winery in Paso Robles, we had the most amazing olive oil and focaccia, and had to ask where it was sourced. The next day I came to pick up bottles for all the girls on our girls' trip who wanted one. The owners were so kind to give me a last-minute tasting, even as they were about to close and I walked away with a case. All samples were delicious, and I'm excited to have the lemon infused olive oil over vanilla ice cream (as suggested) or to use the basil one for caprese salad. An adorable olive oil farm tucked into the hills a short drive from SLO and Paso Robles -- we stopped by for a tasting on a Saturday afternoon and it was SUCH a fun and unique experience! It's a hidden gem, for SURE, and I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are so sweet and fun to talk to. I loved the idea of an olive oil tasting because, unlike wine tastings, I felt like I could actually notice the difference in flavors. They put a lot of thought and care into the tasting experience, including a sheet highlighting all of the information and pre-packaged boxes with cups and bread. It was a great afternoon activity and personal favorites included the rosemary (which I bought) and basil olive oils -- the bottles are reasonably priced and would make an awesome gift or addition to shake up any kitchen! I love this place! For me they are still the best olive oil in town and trust me I have tasted around. If i am not mistaken Olea farm was the original olive oil farm of the area and rent their equipment out to other farms to press their olives. They are family owned and hidden off of old Templeton road. It is that authentic farm to table experience you have been searching for. They have a decent collection of different varaitals and make vinegars too. The last weekend of october they throw a harvest party where you can watch the olive oil be pressed, bottled and purchase. They have snacks, like their olive oil fried fries, and tea for you to try during that festival too. They usually partner with other local small businesses too and have soaps, bath bombs, chapsticks all available for purchase. Best quality olive oil right out of their house. It started years ago with a couple that passed it to another couple... Yet, the quality of the oils were maintained intact, as well as their friendship. Today, they were all together celebrating harvest and pressing the olives for oil at the same time. They have this gathering yearly as they support other local business. We came home with freshly squeezed olive oil and a warm feeling from the interaction with very nice people. Four of us stopped here on Sunday around noon and had the wonderful time. We were seated at a comfortable picnic table on a beautiful patio right in front of the rows of olive trees. Tasting offered included seven olive oil and five balsamic vinegar, and we learned lots of interesting stuff from the history of the farm to how all their products can be enjoyed. The most exciting recipe we learned was to grill slices of watermelon and season with balsamic vinegar! Price was reasonable and the entire stay was so cozy. We had THE best oiling oil tasting experience at Olea Farm. We received boxes (Covid-friendly!) with 12 different tastings, 7 olive oils and 5 vinegars. Rick said down with us and walked us through the different oils and made recommendations for pairings that were divine. There wasn't one oil I didn't like, but I particularly enjoyed the Crescent, the Lemon, Basil and the Gourmet Blend/Garlic Herbs olive oil. The traditional balsamic vinegar is my favorite; but I also really enjoyed the pear champagne and blackberry vinegar. Rick also let us try the more spicy Diable olive oil which was so good, especially mixed with some blackberry vinegar. I wanted to buy much more than I did, but since they offer online ordering, I'll probably shop more once I go through the bottles I brought home. I've done many olive oil tastings in the past, but this was the best experience and the best quality oils. Particularly love the Arebequina and the Gourmet Garlic and Herb Blend you could basically drink with a straw! Setting is absolutely beautiful and Rick was really nice and informative. My girlfriend & I like to do olive oil tastings, and while in the area I found this one. We were pleasantly surprised with the experience! The tasting was free, and we sampled maybe 10 different kinds. Our host gave a short description for each one, and it was the right level of detail. We liked almost all of them, and ended up buying 3 bottles to take home. Overall would recommend! I have a few suggestions that would've made this even better: 1) Increase the hosts' knowledge - When we asked follow up questions on the olive oils our host didn't have much to add. He knew the basics about each olive oil, but for example, couldn't tell us the difference between a Spanish and an Italian olive oil (when he described one as Spanish and another as Italian). A great host can indulge a typical tourist's curiosity with a little extra knowledge. 2) Offer sample sizes. We probably would've walked out with 2x more bottles if they were available in small under $10 bottles. 3) Make parking more clear. When you drive up, you can see the tasting area but it's not obvious where to park. Some clear markings would help here. read more

Olea Farm is a total jewel! I have been here several times and always have a fantastic time. I have always bought my oils and balsamics from grocery stores in the past, but now Olea is my main source. I recently brought a group of friends and we had the best tasting experience. They have a wonderful set up to comply with COVID standards. Everyone has a pre-made box of oils and balsamic already separated. You set them out on a sheet that explains what they are and there is also paperwork to give you more detail in regards to what you're tasting. You taste 7 oils and 5 balsamics. After our tasting the owners brought out other flavors and taught us to mix/match them. The gourmet garlic and herb vinaigrette/marinate is literally God's gift. You have to try this when you go. You will not be disappointed. They also have a fantastic olive oil lip balm and lotions/bath products. Everything they sell make for fantastic gifts as well. read more

We were referred to this delightful little olive farm for some olive oil tasting by Leslie at Victor Hugo. It was fun to drive up and see the rows upon rows of olive trees. We had a complimentary tasting of 5 olive oils, as well as assorted jams and tapenades. Their 5 olive oils include: - "European Style" - late harvest Tuscan blend, prepared in the traditional style that most people are used to. In my opinion, it was a little bland on its own, but I can see how due to its mildness it would be good for cooking. - Arbequina - early harvest Spanish olives, with a grassy, pungent flavor. I liked it. - Crescendo - 80% Arbequina, 20% Tuscan - it has the great pungent flavors of the Arbequina but without as much bite, a bit more subtle - this is the one we bought. - Basil Blush - blend of Tuscan with basil oil. I would enjoy this over some caprese. - Lemon Blush - blend of Tuscan with lemon zest oil. I would have loved to drizzle this over some pound cake, as Clotilde suggested. We also really enjoyed all of the jams and tapenades. I could have left with one of everything, but we did narrow down to just some olive oil, olive jam, tapenade, and spices. Olive oils are available by the 375ml bottle, but also by the half gallon or gallon. They even have a club, with 3 shipments a year. A lovely small olive farm producing high quality oils, jams and jellies, as well as featuring other related local producers of honey, vinegar, fragrant goat milk soaps, etc. On a quiet Sunday, I was delighted to be given tastes of about 7-8 varieties of pure olive oil, as well as 'flavored' oils featuring lemon and basil essences. Wonderful. I have tasted oils all over California and these are of the highest quality and flavor. The kicker is that they are also priced much more reasonably than other local and farther producers. We arrived at 10:30am in a Sunday and the place was a little packed. The owners were super nice. We sampled about 5-6 different extra virgin olive oils and 5 or so flavored oils. My favorite flavored oil was the tarragon. It was a little herbaceous but very subtle just a hint of floral notes. We also liked the straight Mediterranean olive oil and another one with a buttery start and a peppery finish. They sell all the oils at 4 different sizes 300ml, 750 ml and magnum which I think is 1.5 liters and a gallon size. When I was there it was $18 for the 300 ml, $28 for the 750ml and I can't remember the cost of the other sizes. They also had marinated olives, balsamic vinegars, different seasonings, salt grinders and various other accoutrement. The space is a little small especially if there are more than 10 people inside. We ended up with 3 bottles of the 750 size oils, a gift pack of the vinegars do we could try them all, the cutest little salt grinder and some other things I'm sure we didn't need but loved anyways. The owners were very nice, she even gave us a card good for 4 tastings to Wild Horse, where we ended up buying more stuff. They were dog friendly, we brought our yorkie in with us. We'd definitely come back when we've gone through all of our newly acquired olive oil. Come here you'll like it. read more

We were having lunch at Thomas Hill Organics and ordered the bread service. Tasted the olive oil and had to have more! Found out the olive oil came from Olea Farms and discovered the farm also did tastings-decided to find out more. So glad we did. Rick sat with us, explained the process and the characteristics of each of the 6 olive oils and 5 vinegars we tried. We were the only ones there, so he brought out a couple more and mixed a couple of blends for us. Rick and Kathy (owners) were so friendly and answered all our questions, we left feeling like friends. I left with 2 oils, 2 blends and a bottle of delicious blackberry balsamic vinegar. I was part of a group of 24 who visited today. We learned about the making of olive oil, had a tasting of their vast array products (I especially enjoyed their Pear Vinegar and the Diablo Olive Oil) and came away with a better appreciation of their business. I wasn't especially keen about the soaps but that was personal preference. The new owners (having purchased the farm two months ago), are not changing anything from the way the original owners did things. They are especially helpful and we did not feel rushed trying samples of bread dipped in their product. A good time was had by all! read more

Love this family-owned farm! They make wonderful products and very reasonably priced. I stock up on their Lemon Verbena hand lotion and a couple extras for gifts. They also have it available in other scents (eg., olive thyme, lavender). During this visit, I picked up a gallon of their Arbequino olive oil to put in little jars for favors at my niece's baby shower. Where else can you go and just ask for a gallon of olive oil on the fly! They're only open weekends, so if you're visiting Paso, this is a must place to visit! read more

They are only open Saturday and Sunday, and from what I heard they are one of the best olive oil producers around Paso Robles, as many local resturants use their olive oil. read more

One of my favorite things to do is olive oil tastings and this place is well worth the drive. Located just outside of Templeton it really wasn't that far to go from my base in Paso Robles. The Covid pandemic has made folks get real creative with how they do business. No exception here. The most unique presentation I have seen to date. They have their oils and balsamic vinegars in little tasters setup like a box lunch, along with 2 containers of bread chunks for dipping. There is a description sheet with numbers corresponding to the numbers on the lids. There was also one container that was premixed identified as marinade. Very tasty. We enjoyed this precious setup at the picnic table underneath a grand old oak tree in front of their rural storefront. Very serene. A small bonus, at least for me- a very friendly barn kitty came over to say hello. She hung out with us while Fatima wrapped up my purchases, beautifully I might add. read more

What an amazing place.The owners are super friendly & knowledgeable. I visited there for the first time with my son & his little family. My three year old grand daughter enjoyed the olives & olive oil as well. Wonderful flavors to explore which also includes balsamic vinegar's as well as well as many other lovely home made foods & products. The lady running the tasting was very good at explaining the characteristics of each olive oil. It didn't seem like there was a tasting fee, but then again, we bought stuff.
