I was in the area for an appointment when I realized it was close to dinner-time and I was in the mood (as always) for some Jamaican food. Yelp showed me a spot a few miles away! I rush over to Oley's to grab up my go- to meal of Jerk chicken, rice n peas, collard greens, and cabbage, with a seemingly complimentary tiny corn bread. The restaurant was in the hood, which was a great sign (wink), it smelled ok, food looked good, and I was excited about possibly discovering a new favorite spot. Ummm...not so fast. I am going to keep it a 100. The jerk wasn't jerkin', the cabbage tasted like sweaty socks, and the collard greens had a hint of sourness. Sorry my peoples, but this ain't it.

Solid soul food and carb bean joint. The jerk chicken is ridiculous. So juicy and tender and full of flavor. The mac snd cheese was good. The rice was a little dry. Overall I'm a huge fan.

A blend of BBq and Caribbean?!? Yes please! This is my favorite Caribbean spot in town! I try to stop in here at least once a month. Their jerk chicken is some of the best I've had! It's very saucey, which I like. I get it with rice and peas and hush puppies - but they have a lot of side options. Parking is easy and service is always friendly. I just wish they offered beer! If you want some good bbq or Caribbean, definitely check this place out!

Customer service is great here. The older gentleman server was very hospitable and kind to us. He even asked the cook to let us order breakfast even though it was 5min after end of breakfast. Breakfast is good. BBQ is delicious, ribs were smokey and "fall off the bone" meat was delicious. Mac and cheese was okay, yams were tasty and served in a mashed style. Gotta try the collards next time we come. Pancakes were okay, omelet was a meat lovers and not too much meat. Lots of good cheese though on the omelet. Home fries are home made cut, seasoned and cooked like home. I enjoyed my time here. This is a comfortable place to eat. There were a lot of people who seemed to come in after Church to eat and our server was nice to everyone. I found it nice that the owner graduated from Bethune-Cookman University, an awesome HBCU! Love that it was displayed at this business!

I've been on the hunt for great soul food since we moved and Oley's is it. The vibe is what you want, old school pictures on the wall, the same paint job from the 90's , aunties arguing about the menu and a server that sits down to take your order. What I liked: the fried chicken, whiting, greens, yams and Lima beans were all great. Just ok : I wasn't crazy about the cornbread or cabbage. But that's just personal preference. Already been back and will be going back to try more.

Four and a half stars for a mash up of Jamaican and Southern (yup you read that right) cuisine. The online order system was really finicky and took forever to go through anddd it sent the wrong info to the restaurant- it was the weirdest thing- my email confirmation was correct but the receipt that printed on their end was not- the restaurant staff were super nice and re did the order with the right meats, which was very much appreciated. They all wore masks as well. They brought the order out curbside. I dock half a star because the packaging of the food wasn't great- it would have been much better if the curry and jerk were packed separately (those two flavors don't really go together)& they were both on top of all the rice and peas which also would have been better packed separately. The food itself was delicious, and I'd definitely order from them again, though maybe by phone. I'd skip the red velvet cake- it was very sweet, didn't have the depth you'd expect from red velvet and was a pretty small slice. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Oley's- definitely much better than it looks from the outside! Glad for Yelp including it on the black owned business list or I probably wouldn't have found it since I don't go to this part of town usually.

My coworker wanted to introduce me to this place and I'm so glad he did! The vibes were right and the food was really good and came out to our table quick and piping hot! Our server was a sweetheart. We will for sure be spending more lunch breaks here!

Please forgive me for only one picture. This place food is always good. We had Fried Chicken smothered in gravy, sweet potatoes, potato salad, okra and tomatoes, cabbage. We also purchased lemon and red velvet cakes.

It only makes sense that the soul and Caribbean cultures come together in Florida. From fried chicken and collards to oxtail and cabbage, this unassuming location houses a myriad of classics that'll make any local feel right at home. Drive slow, as this place is quick to miss. You'll be glad you gave it a shot.

While it's primarily a takeout establishment, the owner will occasionally accommodate small groups with seating when possible. Food Made With Love…read more I'm visiting from out the state and the only food I desired was southern cooking. There were a few choices on Yelp and Google but I selected P&D. The first letter of the husband an wife names. My expectations were high, and they should have been based on the reviews. This is not a standalone location as the are other businesses within the same building. You won't see P&D on the exterior signage but you will see "Soul Food Kitchen" A la carte buffet style food served. I like this so I could see what I'm ordering. Which is way I should have not purchased the Mac&cheese. Macaroni noodles and shredded cheese melted within. A serious faux pas for macaroni and cheese. I observed how many customers appeared to be regulars, and several people were ordering additional food to take home. I ordered two full meals. The main dishes are served with cornbread dressing on the savory side or rice. One suggestion for P&D would be to offer a brown gravy option alongside that is not meat-based specifically for the dressing. The highlights for me were the yams, fried fish, and pork chop and red velvet cake. Those dishes were well seasoned & well-prepared. Without being critical of the other side dishes this is what I would say: Sharing a few side dishes with your group before committing to larger portions. If you're a singleton stick to yellow rice, yams, and beans. While some food choices did not meet my palate, I can understand why this place has a loyal following. The welcoming familial atmosphere, location, and comfort food are sometimes the basics of what people need to get through the day. Service: 5 stars Food portions: 5 stars Food presentation: 4 stars Parking: 5 stars Returning?: Unlikely "When food is made with love, it's hard to critique the heart."

I've been wondering for a while where to get some good stick to your ribs so food, so when my wife told us that Nikki's Place reached out to her to come try some authentic soul food, I had to join her. We had to make sure to get an array of different things to try as much as possible. So we ordered.. smothered pork chops, fried catfish and shrimp, lemon butter chicken wings, red rice, Collard greens, Lima beans, black eyed peas, cornbread, candied yams, mac and cheese, and some onion fries.. with some sweet tea. I want to tell you, every bite I took had me closing my eyes and smiling. My only complaint was the lima beans were a little bit salty, but when I ate it with everything else it didn't really matter. The lemon butter fried chicken wings were absolutely amazing. I have not tasted anything like that in my life. You can't go there and not get them. You need these wings. I'd also like to say that all the sides are meat-free , so vegetarians come get some . We ate till we were full, and we had enough to take home as well. So it has been awhile since I ate here and I was craving soul food. The menu had changed. They stop cooking certain things only cooking certain items on certain days. Wednesday is meatloaf. Oxtails on Thursday and BBQ ribs / Chicken on Friday & Saturdays. The website menu states the menu weekly. Came in around 12-1pm on a Friday. No line but few customers inside. The inside was not fully cool from the AC so that was a worry of having steam hot food and mediocre AC cool air inside. So this day was BBQ day and they had smothered porkchops and fried/baked chicken as other proteins. I opted for Baked chicken (5pcs), mac & cheese, collards. I also ordea vegetable plate which is pretty much sides plate. I opted for yams, potato salad and mac & cheese. Also ordered bread pudding and banana pudding. The portions here are hefty. Just be mindful. Sat inside and just ate because I was hungry and it was a drive to get here. The baked chicken was seasoned very well but I felt the meat was not as juicy tender as how I expect it to be as baked chicken. The collards were delicious tender slight bitterness with some pcs of pork fat and meat throughout. Not too salty. You can really taste the natural juices of the collards when this was cooked with the taste of smoked pork. The mac & cheese didn't have the cheese crisp baked. topping but you can taste the pasta was possibly boiled in broth. Great Cheesy taste not much cheese pull. Delicious mac & cheese. The yams here are candied but when you get it it has a sweet stew taste. No dairy in her yams. Its pure yams and broth. Its one of my fave way to eat candied yams because its not the sticky candied types. One of my fave sides here. The potato salad had missing paprika sprinkled on top but it was delicious. The portion was hefty. They pack it inside the small to go container really well. It had eggs in it lots of potatoes and you can taste mustard perhaps in it. Tangy potato salad. Bread pudding was also a favorite of mine. Solid tender block of really flavored bread pudding. Not soggy but tender when eaten. Not too sweet but enough sweetness to devour. This has raisins btw. Banana pudding is another favorite of mine even though it tasted jello mix was used. Nilla wafers are the cookie components and when you get this the cookies are not soggy. I think they prepare to order so that the wafers don't get soggy. Another fave dessert here for me and you get alot in a small take out container. Yellow rice is curry seasoned. It's not those Spanish yellow rice. You can slightly taste curry powder was perhaps used to seasoned and color the rice. Its a delicious side to eat with proteins that they serve there. The cornbread is a good slice of cornbread and its grainy sweet so its not jiffy cornbread. Its texture you can tell has cornmeal in it and right amount of sweetness and not too cakey. It's one of my favorites of cornbread served locally. Prices went up but for the portions it's worth the up charge. A dinner plate is in its $20 ish and lunch is in its $15 ish. Dinner gets 2 sides while lunch is 1 side. Drinks are extra. Ms. Kim so far has been helping serve the customers so its nice to meet her and have a conversation about her cooking and Netflix episode. Definitely my favorite spot for home cooking style soul food in Orlando.

I wish the seasoning had carried through the entire piece. The mac and cheese was actually pretty good, especially for a Caribbean restaurant. I usually only enjoy mac and cheese from soul food restaurants, so this was a pleasant surprise. The collard greens were decent as well. The restaurant itself felt like one large space housing three different restaurants: Jamaican, Soul Food, and Haitian. It was very run down, there was no air conditioning, and with the Florida heat it was uncomfortable to dine inside. If I return, it will definitely be for takeout. Customer service was efficient and fairly quick, which I appreciated. One downside was the portion size. I ordered a large meal, but the amount of meat was surprisingly skimpy. Now, let's talk about the passion fruit punch. It was absolutely amazing! It was very sweet, but after adding a little water, it was perfect.
