While on my way to our old friends house, I decided to stop and grab some food. As a native Jamaican, I decided to try this place because I was just in the mood for Caribbean food. So I came here and stood in line and was about to order. However, this gentleman was standing in front of me before the lady came over to the side to just ask what I wanted to order, however, this gentleman was in front of me and I know he didn't order, nor did he hear her. So I leaned over to him just a little bit to ask if he ordered already or what he wanted. He didn't hear me either. So the lady then said to me "he don't wanna order so just go ahead". Poor way to handle that!!!!!!! Now I know Caribbean people very well, and being 'nasty nice' sadly seems like it's a part of our culture. However, it would've just been easy if she asked a gentleman in front of me in a louder tone, what he wanted. Instead, what we had was a situation where after I ordered, he finally realize and then she explain the story to him how he wasn't listening/tuned out. However, I've made about three or four reviews like this where I state that a company has great food but poor people skills and it's something that I believe every company needs to have before you even start serving your food. Your food gets people in the door, and then your service is what keeps them coming back for more. Again, another restaurant that could use a touch in people skills and of course I'm not talking about all the employees there because I didn't meet all of them and the person who took my order was much different than the person who actually cashed me out. Just Gotta be better on that front, outside of that the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. I've tried a few different dishes here & each one was flavorful but sooo spicy. I USED to be able to handle spicy foods like a pro but, Lord be a bottle of Pepto cause I can't do it now! Visited this restaurant on Monday and it was my first time. The customer service was good. However the food was NOT. I got the fried chicken with oxtail gravy and rice and peas. The rice and peas tasted like parboiled rice which in my opinion is a no no when cooking authentic Jamaican rice and peas and the chicken was so dry and bland and that gravy did not taste like oxtail gravy. I'm not usually a fan of Jamaican food but I googled and saw that this restaurant was near and it would satisfy my tastebuds for Caribbean food. The restaurant was very clean and there was also a bar area. I ordered the brown stew chicken and dumplings. The brown stew chicken was the best I've ever had. The rice and peas was also amazing. I wanted to try the Mac & Cheese but I came late in the afternoon and they had already run out. The dumplings were a little hard and dry so I'll pass on that. My mother is Jamaican and she is the one that reconmended Negril Restaurant! So I knew it had to be good. I had a taste for some ackee & saltfish, calalloo, plantains, everything. Negril is on the corner of Powers and Silver Star, very easy to find. I walked in and it was very clean, the menu is on a TV screen and the food is already cooked, you just say what you would like to order. I was there at breakfast time but will definitely be trying their lunch/dinner, which I heard is delicious. They serve the Jamaican classics there if you are familiar. There was only one person serving and checking out so it did take a little while to order. The ackee and saltfish had huge chunks of saltfish in there and the calalloo was not too salty, just like how my mom makes it. There was a lot of oil in the pan, but I asked her to strain it first. It is served with fried dumpling and plantain, or you can ask for yams and boiled banana. They also had Jamaican porridge, patties, and bun n cheese. The best part is that they give you a huge amount of food for about $6-8 depending on what you are getting! They were also nice and friendly. I have been to most of the Jamaican spots in Orlando and Negril is definitely a contender if you are feeling for some Jamaican food. Came here only for the lunch special that was on their website, just to be told they do not do the lunch specials on Saturday. The website says differently. After the girl just kept saying "no, no , no"....I said and tried to show her the website. By this time I am aggravated and really did not want the food, but I had a small group with me. She did eventually go and ask someone in the back (allegedly) and came back saying that is only for their new location elsewhere. I dont do business like this, but went ahead and got some food since I was with others - otherwise I would have walked out already. Everyone had jerk chicken which was mostly black and dried out. The rice and peas with the curry gravy on it was tasty, and so were the few plantains. 1 bathroom, which is clean , as well as a small sitting area with bar stools . I was only in the area for a special occasion, and will not return. Small jerk chicken plate is $9 - not worth it , but the lunch specials would be something to check out- depending on the size plate they give. Ps. There were 16 people in line ahead of me when I came in. If you have time to eat them come here for sure for Jamaican cuisine. So I ordered the small jerk chicken chicken dinner that came with your choice of rice and a side. I chose rice and peas for my rice and my side was plantains. I seen a lot of people in front of me get oxtail gravy on their rice, so I decided to try that as well. It was a game changer! The gravy made the rice even better!! The jerk chicken was tender, seasoned to perfection, and was on the milder side. The plantains were cooked to perfection... not too hard or soft. The customer service was really good and the workers had smiles on their faces which made me want to eat there. If you are getting the dinners for yourself, the small is just the right size. I ordered from Uber Eats... they then call 20 minutes later saying they are out of 2 items I ordered. I change my order. They give the wrong order to my uber driver and Shurrie is extremely rude and tells me it's not her fault even though she confirms she watched my driver leave with the wrong food. She then tells me on the phone that "my food should be still warm." Even though she knows it's been sitting for 30 minutes plus the amount of time it will take for the driver to pick it up and bring it to me. When I ask her if she would want to hear that response if the roles were reversed she said she would check the food and then hung up on me. The severs seem kind of rude and brisque. I got the oxtail dinner place with rice and peas and 2 sides plaintains and cabbage. They gave a hearty serving of oxtails. The food was really good. The meat seasoned really well and had a little kick to it. Rice and peas weren't mushy, cooked just right. Cabbage could of been a little more tender but was fine. Meal was $13.
