I've been coming here for 20 years and have never had such a messed up relationship experience. The low-energy waiter didn't know the menu, couldn't identify where the beer list might be, whether or not they served iced tea, and when we ordered two side salads, he brought out two giant plates of iceberg covered with tons of carrot, 2 tomatoes, and one ounce of ham. For $9!!! When I brought this to the attention of the young female employee, she apologized and said this was only his fourth day. (It takes four days to find the beer menu and learn if your restaurant serves iced tea???) The right thing would've been to remove the $18 for salads we didn't order or realize we were getting. Population isn't the only reason Fort Wayne's version of deep dish pizza doesn't have the name recognition of Chicago's or Detroit's. This variation has the same bland sauce you'd find at Pizza Hut, gobs of flavorless mozzarella and the crust is like a thick version of a saltine cracker, sans the salt. I tried the double crust pepperoni this evening for dinner. It was ok, in my opinion. It was overwhelming with cheese and the crust needs to be a touch crisper. It had a great flavor, but it was to much of a good thing for me. My companion had the hot wings and garlic cheese bread, both were ok, I tasted each, strictly for verification purposes,heeeeheeee! My fiancee is a born and raised Hoosier and according to him this place is a Fort Wayne staple. We went here close to 9p on a Saturday night for some pizza, since I've never been, but the dining area was closed. Bummer, but no biggie- we decided to order take out. The lady that was working was kind of rude (hence the 4 star rating) but other than that everything else was OK. The place is way small and has an old timey feel to it. But the first thing you notice when you first walk in is the smell. IT.IS.AMAZING. We shortly received out order after it was placed and went back home. As a first timer at this place all I can say is I'm speechless. The deep dish pizza is a mouthful of warm, cheezy goodness I never knew I needed until that moment. It literally is like having two pizzas cooked into one. If you're considering going here as a first timer, do it... you can thank me later! read more

The pizza is unlike any other place I've tried before and that's saying something as I'm a pizza nut. The double crust is two very thin layer crusted pizzas combined on top of one another to form one semi-deep dish type pizza. People say it's Chicago style but really it's not, other than it's a deep dish type pizza. Chicago style has the sauce on top and is usually deeper than this. Quiet little shop in the middle of nowhere! But damn it's good. I don't recommend the pizza if your not a cheese fan cause it is loaded with cheese from the first bite to the last. You will be lucky if you don't make a mess when you scoop up a slice as the cheese ooozes. Sausage rolls are amazing and the salads are simple but leave you craving them days later, and did I mention the garlic knots!!! read more

Apparently this place is well-liked around here so I thought I would give it a try as I haven't found one pizza place that is worthwhile in this area, but unfortunately Oley's was just another disappointment. I ordered the deluxe. Although there was a lot of cheese, it didn't have much taste to it. There was almost zero sauce, which made it rather dry. And there was so much sausage that it overwhelmed the taste of the whole pizza. There was only a little bit of the other toppings. Definitely nothing special. Went here to try the pizza because I have herd alot from other people who recommended it. Me and my wife are kind of spoiled in this type of food, we spend alot of time in Chicago, so it is very hard to find pizza that matches up. Oleys fell far short. We got the bread sticks as well as the cheese covered mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh, that was a plus however they were just sliced and put on a plate and covered in cheese. No seasoning, no oil or butter, just mushrooms and cheese. The bread sticks were the same. Baked bread. While fresh, it was very bland, no seasoning, butter or anything. The Pizza was on about the same level. The ingredients were good but the overall experience was blahhh. I even mentioned to my wife at one point that Jacks pizza from the grocery store was better. A deep pizza for sure. Always love Oley's. This isn't the original off 24, but they mimic is good enough to get 5 stars. I don't got to go down 24 anymore. This place here will serve it up thick and give you that deep deep dish of pizza loaded with that sauce and cheese. Couple pieces you will be bloated up. Enough! Good pizza to feed lots of folks. This is one of my favorite pizzerias in the country. Every time I come to town I make my way to Oley's. Fort Wayne has a total jewel in Oley's. The double crust stuffed pizza is simply amazing. The bottom layer is packed with cheese, with another layer of crust placed on top of that, then the toppings, and finally a top layer of cheese. All inside of a Chicago style, deep-dish pan. I was in search of the best sausage roll and the reviews said Oley's pizza. My sister and I went over and purchased one to try, we were not happy for 15.00 we received a 6 inch roll we wanted extra sauce on the inside of the sausage roll not in a separate container. The breading incasing the ingredients was hard like cracker hard we were expecting a dough like crust, soft after coming out of the oven you could hear how crunchy the roll was and dry not juicy once you cut into it we ordered extra ingredients on it barely saw any extras the search continues for the best sausage roll. read more

This place looks/smells pretty grungy, so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into when someone recommended it. The interior smells like smoke and definitely looks like it could use a good cleaning. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste of the pizza, though. I tried the double stuffed crust pizza and it was very cheesy and delicious. My sister ordered wings and they looked pretty basic, like they had just been dumped out of a bag into a fryer, and she commented they were not very good. I think in the future, I would stick with take-out and try not to visualize the space where the pizza came from. read more
