    Pepperoni Pizza
    Charissa H.

You need to go here. The pizza is high quality, seasoned to perfection, and the dough is crispy and holds up. I can't wait to try the other pizzas, but I'm highly impressed so far. The owner says he was trying to duplicate east coast pizza, and boy did he deliver. Now the pepperoni pizza did cost $26, but it's well worth it. Pepperonis are fresh and plentiful. The tomato sauce had great flavor with a little sweetness. Good amount of cheese, you'll definitely get a cheese pull. The pizza is huge. You could probably feed 4 people in one pizza, unless it's all men then maybe 2-3. Fantastic pizza. Go here.

Johnny Ox is a unique pizza place in a new and unique setting. They are located right by the door as you come into Union Street Market. The signage is hard to see and front desk is a bit crowded with tables, patrons waiting on food and other passersby's. The menu is very small and pricey. However the pizza is very large and filling. The food prep area is open for you to watch and stayed clean through the busy time I was there. The team was mildly friendly though it was the end of the shift and they just sold out of pizza dough. You have to ask for about everything since it is an open air venue with general seating. There was plenty of comfortable and attractive seating for those of you wanting to dine in. They don't have fountain service so everything is in a can or bottle. The pizza is Neapolitan style pizza. The pizza is large and nicely oven baked. No burnt edges or bottoms on this pie. The pie has a lot of sauce that soaks into the crust. So the crust is very limp in the middle and thicker/chewy on the edges where there is no sauce. The pizza is lighter on the cheese. The cheese was very fresh and had a great mozzarella flavor. The pie was loaded with small round pepperonis. The pepperoni had a nice spicy kick that stays with you as you dine. One of the true measures of a good pizza is...how does it taste cold the next morning. The pizza crust was a bit tough 12 hours later but still an okay level of chewy. The pepperoni still had a wonderful spice that probably even more dominated the total flavor even more. The sauce presence was fully absorbed by now. Pretty good as a cold pizza! Overall I think Johnny Ox's Neapolitan pizza is worth a try. I don't think any one else in Fort Wayne has this style pizza. Just be prepared for the pie sticker shock...though it will feed three people. The new Union Street Market is fresh and unique and worth a visit too!

Located inside the Union Street Market, you cannot miss this place. The line is always long, but for great reason! Thankfully this place offers slices between 11a & 3p. Whole pies typically take 14 minutes but depending on the orders the wait can be up to 45 mins to an hour. I'm not usually a wood-oven pizza gal, but the quality of the ingredients changes my mind. Here's what I got: -Cheese slices ($4): on a busy day where the wait was 45 minutes I opted for the last 2 cheese slices. They didn't disappoint! Not too much sauce and the cheese is fantastic. The slowly fermented crust is so good you'll want to eat that too. -Omnivore Kiss ($28): this is only on their menu periodically, so when you can get it ... get it! The pizza has quite a bit on it, but it's not too overwhelming where you can't enjoy. The ingredients (per menu) include: organic marinara, WM mozzarella, ezzo natural cased - fermented pepperoni, house-made spice-fennel sausage, nueski's cherry wood bacon, onion, black olives, roasted mushroom and fresh garlic. It's a party in your mouth for sure. Only thing I would opt out of is the olives, but that's just a personal preference. The pepperoni was my fave on this pizza and will try the pepperoni pizza next time. Great establishment. Will be back!

Okay, to say this is the best pizza in the fort may be a stretch..... But it has got to be close. My wife and I went to electric works for date night and had food and drinks from several places inside. Before heading out I said, "hey let's get a pizza to go." I walked over placed my order and within a few minutes (maybe 15 or so) my number was called. I'm a huge fan of Neapolitan pizza and Johnny Ox brings their "A" game every time we order from them. Some say the price is a tad too high. But, in all actuality it's priced right for the size and quality you get. Great job guys on a great pizza. You have earned a customer for life!

Electric works - another concept that we enjoyed on our visit to the Fort Wayne area for a class reunion. Johnny pizza was amazing and the quality of the ingredients clearly evident in the taste of the pizza. I am looking forward to the next time we visit family to stop again to enjoy the food. This pizza place needs to expand to their own facility in the future where they would be a neighborhood favorite!

Without a doubt, this place ranks among the top three pizza spots in Fort Wayne! I've enjoyed their pizza around 7-8 times now, and each experience has been a success. I particularly appreciate their rotation of pizza menus, which gives customers the opportunity to try something different each time.

I'm glad to see yelp has more sense than the mouth breathing Karen's on google. Anything less than 5 stars is insulting to this place especially considering the lack of decent options in Fort Wayne for pizza. I'm born and raised from New Haven CT ( best pizza in the world ) and this place is right up there no joke. The flavor and quality is incredible , Johnny is an awesome dude that interacts with his customers and the girls who make the pies are amazing . It's become close to a weekly tradition of mine to go I'm there and get a beer and I can't wait to go again. You can't go wrong with this pizza

Ordered pizza by the slice pepperoni. The crust is very good. It has a lot of chew. The peperoni is the small cup type. My favorite. The pepperoni remind me of the original Domino's type. The sauce to cheese ratio is good. I usually like a little more sauce. However, the ratio works well for style. It's got some grease but that's not all bad. You can buy a beer at the Charlie Horse and enjoy it with your pizza. Lunar Infusions is next door for kambucha.

Is there a gluten free crust available?

I'm pretty confident the answer is no. It's not on the menu and the work area isn't conducive to keep gluten and non-gluten separate.

It was alright -- nothing special, but given the size and volume of the place, I don't necessarily expect everything to be made completely fresh to order. It did the job. The service was also just alright. My interaction with the barista/bartender was brief and unfortunately a bit stale. She wasn't rude, just not particularly warm or memorable. Overall, it's a convenient place with a lot of options, but the experience itself was pretty average.

My second time however was different, i was handed a business card that was covered in some sauce, the kitchen looked dirty through the window and the owner seemed a little loss. I ordered the NY Philly cheese steak, potato salad and I was given a beef stew sample. The potato salad was good, it's hard to mess that up. I took one bite of the beef stew and threw it away, it was not something I'd ever order from there, it was sweet and just tasted off. The cheesesteak, that costed me like 15 dollars by the way, looked incredible when I opened up my container. But when I took a bite, I cringed and coughed because it was so incredibly salty. I could only get through half my sandwich before I had to spit it out it was that salty. If it wasn't so salty I'm sure it would've been good but it was all you could taste and it was so overwhelming.

Dash In - historic downtown breakfast or lunch option…read more First off...Dash In won't appeal to everyone. The prices are a bit high compared to other places with similar food items. Parking may be a challenge depending on the time of day. And the dinning area is small. Dash In has been a downtown Fort Wayne eatery option for many years. They are located on Calhoun Street next to Pint & Slice and a couple blocks south of the court house. This restaurant has retained the vintage building feel. The interior brick and wood work are very attractive to go along with the more modern decor. The bar is very attractive. They have a very small street level outside patio if that is your preference. The shop is very small. I'm guessing the bar seats about 10 people. The main dinning area probably seats about 40. The team here is very friendly and welcoming. They hustle to serve. We went on a late Sunday afternoon and didn't not have to wait. I don't think they take reservations. There are lots of people coming and going with carry out orders. Today we had no problem finding a street parking spot. There is a parking garage nearby if no street spots are available. The menu is actually fairly broad. They have a special brunch menu along with a breakfast all day menu. There were several sandwiches and wraps available. A couple salads too. The coffee and alcoholic drink menus were very large. We didn't have either of these products this time so I can't give you any feedback on them. They have a special soup du jour and deli side selection. Today it was a mushroom arugula soup and caprese salad side. My wife loves breakfast and ordered a make-to-order omelette with a side of grilled vegetables. She really liked the light tasting eggs and fresh tasting vegetables. The tomato bisque soup is one of their staples. It is delicious and would be great with a grilled cheese sandwich from the menu. The soup was smooth and creamy. It had a gentle tomato flavor along with a more predominant milk/cream base. The soup surprisingly has a stronger spicy after taste - still outstandingly delicious! The side salad is very simple. It has a combination of fresh spring mix lettuce along with a minimal amount of onion, cheese and red pepper. The honey mustard dressing was smooth, creamy, thick and a bit spicy. It was mild on the honey/sweet taste while stronger on the mustard accent. The Italian panini sandwich was very good. The ciabatta bread was slightly grilled with a firmer exterior but not crunchy. The bread had a very freshly baked taste. The sandwich had a high quality tasting ham, pepperoni, salami and provolone cheese. The meats weren't piled high...but enough to get the flavor from each. The grilled onions and banana peppers gave the sandwich a nice zing. The pleasant aioli sauce moistened the sandwich and blended the spicy meats with the zippy onions and banana peppers. Overall the food quality was excellent yet a bit more costly than you might expect. The service was spot on and helped make it a pleasant dinning experience. The older building design, if you like that, adds to the overall experience. Give them a try!
