Olga's has been around for years!! I am never disappointed with the food or the service. I just hope they stay in this area. The Alton Mall seems to be slowly getting smaller and smaller. I still enjoy going to the mall and taking my family to Olga's. We as a community need to support everything the mall has to offer and of course eat at Olga's. There's simply nothing else like Olga's. I've been eating here since I was a kid and it's always great. Recently, I went there with my mom and daughter. We ordered a basket of Snackers and the Brussel Sprouts for appetizers. The Snackers (served with Swiss Almond Cheese) are amazing. I'd never had the Brussel Sprouts (Crispy Brussels sprouts tossed lightly in Olga dressing with feta) before and they were quite good. For our meals, my mom got the Fried Chicken Olga with zucchini fries. My daughter got the Olga Trio with a turkey club Olga and two soups (Cream of Broccoli and White Chicken Chili-- she seriously loves soup). I got the Olga trio with the turkey club Olga, zucchini fries, and small Olga salad. Everything was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is always clean and tables/booths are arranged so patrons have plenty of room. I can't recommend it enough-- we're so lucky to have an Olga's in our area. read more

The peasant soup recipe has changed and not for the better. Salad was different preferred the old way the salads use to come. The Olga bread was so thin my fingers poked through it. Not the same quality of food. Pretty disappointed probably won't be back for awhile. read more

I hadn't been to an Olga's in a long time, maybe 20 years, and that location closed in Belleville. So when I learned there was one in Alton, I thought it would make for a fun road trip (from St. Louis) to introduce my girlfriend to a fun restaurant from my youth. Olga's Kitchen did not disappoint. It was exactly what I hoped for, and how I remembered it. The same breads, cheeses, sauces. Everything was perfect. Our waitress, Charlie was great too, making sure all of our needs were tended to promptly. If you've never visited an Olga's Kitchen, I highly recommend it. We'll be back. read more

So during the quarantine, I called their number and got a service. And ordered what was a simple couple of pita breads and to Zieke sauce. However they had told me it was curbside and it was $4.33. However when I got there it was twice that price and there curbside is standing outside in the mall hallway. They needed toVery much let us know that this was their version of curbside. And when I asked to talk to a supervisor I was on hold for 20 minutes and she could not care less. And although I love Olga's and have always gone there and I am trying to support local businesses. Yup. It's a chain restaurant. If you can get over that, it is still very good food. Possibly my wife's favorite restuarant. They do almost everything right. Great gyros with very tender lamb/beef meat, great curly fries, spinach pie is awesome, as are the cheese bites and fried pita bread. Their lemonade is very good and the kiwi-flavored lemonade is incredibly addicting. Free refills and you'll be drinking until you slosh when you walk. Service is generally good and the place is warm and inviting. Rarely busy (Alton Square doesn't exactly "pack em in") and the prices are very fair. Get the combo specials for a great deal. If you are a big eater, for a modest amount you can double the meat on the gyro and it will be stuffed so full you won't be able to close it - eat it open-faced and enjoy! read more

There seemed to be at least three employees in the front of the house (maybe a supervisor, a bus person and waitress), but it took several minutes for me to get a menu even though each walked by me several times and then after ten minutes, none came to my table to take my order. This place is the best place for getting any food for any reason at any time of the day. The food is immaculate and the service is great. I would go here everyday. Even during the corona virus lockdown/quarantine, they still kept in tip-top shape making sure to have a touchless delivery/pickup. Once they were able to allow dine-in, they made sure to stay very sanitary and clean, and the food and service was great. I went there just the other with my friend, and enjoyed it greatly. I've always loved the food here and it disappoints me to see the way they're going downhill. Last time we went in here the service was not good at all and the food wasn't up to standards. I figured anyone could have an off day so we ordered online yesterday. Everything was stone cold, nobody answered the phone, the fries were so over salted it wasn't funny. I spent an hour waiting for my name to be called and finally after my daughter had a narcoleptic episode I went to check on the hold up. There was an order sitting on the counter that the manager checked 3 times before she came to speak to me. after asking my name repeatedly she told me there was no order there for that name and I HAD to have used another name. the girl behind the counter told the manager that the order there on the counter had that name. The manager then said I could pay, take my order and go. i insited on checking if the meal was cold, and it was. the manager said she would have the kitchen remake the order and it would be done in 1.45 minutes. after another 10 minute wait she called my name and said we would be paying full price because they had to remake the order. after arriving home I understood why it was such a short wait because they microwaved the entire meal. the plastic container that held the soup was soft and bubbled up (my family has problems with bpas and microwaving plastic can release them into food) and the 2 olgas were put back in the wrong wrappers the blt was in the original wrapper (marked by their kitchen) and the same with the original. this was BY FAR the worst service I have ever received at any establishment and I have been a frequent customer since 1978 when the restaurant opened in our mall. I will be spreading this amongst my family and friends about the rood and horrid service I received. read more

We arrived around 1:00 for lunch and there was a few parties waiting to be seated, we talked to Tammy who told us the wait was only about 15 minutes and to not go far. We waited right outside the restaurant for approximately 25 minutes until I noticed some people who arrived after us were being seated. Another customer actually mentioned that he thought we should have been seated a while ago. I waited until another name was called (happened to be the customer who mentioned it was bound to be our turn and whom arrived after us). I went up and looked at the name sheet and told Tammy it appears she has skipped us (by 5 tables) and at that point i was very calm and Tammy lost it on me! Started yelling that she made a mistake and she is sorry but to give her a break! Seriously? I waited 45 minutes patiently and this is how you address me being skipped by 5 tables when she made eye contact with me everytime she called a table to be seated. Then she asked if we wanted a table and sat us at a 2 top next to 3 other open tables. Our waiter was super nice came and got our drinks and appetizer order. When he came back to take our food order he was called away by Tammy and we never saw him again. After 20 more minutes of watching others who came in after us get their food and we still had not gotten our pizza snackers it was made clear Tammy advised him to ignore us until we left. I have been coming to Olga's with my family since I was 5 years old. I cant explain how disappointed I am in the actions of Tammy yesterday. Olga's is one the very few things I CRAVE (besides Wallys, and J&b tacos), but hardly make it over to Alton or Fairview Heights to satisfy said craving...and that makes me sad....very sad..... My mom used to take me here when I was younger, and the only thing I've really ever ordered is the three cheese olga...my oh my.... cheesey goodness at its finest.. The olga snackers are a must for an appetizer... Their french fries are regular fries but swirly, and I love that.. The food is always hot, and of course you MUST order the Orange Cream Cooler!!!!!! My one complaint is that one time I had ordered from Olgas, drove all the way from downtown STL to the Fairview Heights location, get all the way there and she tells me the orange cream cooler machine is broken....um helloooo, you coulda told me that over the phone BEFORE i drove 20 min there to pick it up!!!!! oh well.... If you are used to Chicago style Greek food you are going to be disappointed. The service is extremely slow, even on a Sunday afternoon serving a party of 1. The food arrived lukewarm. The portions are about 1/2 what you would expect, little gyro meat, even less sauce. A dry gyro is not something I ever experienced until this place. The food is not a good value at all for the cost, or even free. Would not recommend this place to anyone unless they were trapped in the mall and desperate, waste of calories and time.
