We would never have imagined that I could find some of the best Greek food from a little strip-mall restaurant in Boca Raton, but we did. But, if you're looking for fast food service, this is not the Greek restaurant for you as all of the grill items are made to order by Chef Tommy and his wife Anna. My favorite appetizer is the grilled Octopus. Of the 30+ times that I have ordered the Octopus, only one time did it not earn 10 out of 10 stars (and Chef Tommy was not in the kitchen that day). The Octopus arrives at your table hot straight from the grill served with a few tomato slices, mini peppers, and a few greens for color. Best of all, I don't know how Chef Tommy prepares the Octopus, it is exceptionally tender. Another favorite appetizer is their spinach pie. Unlike most Greek restaurants that serve you little spinach triangles (that you can buy at Costco and heat yourself), Anna makes a Spinach wheel with Spinach and phyllo dough that is baked to perfection and served with tzatziki sauce. Unless you want to bring home a box of leftovers, you must come hungry! Their seafood platter for two and meat platter for two provide enough protein for two people who haven't eaten meat/seafood in days. Needless to say, please save some room for Anna's Greek Desserts. I we often order this food for take out. This time my husband and I decided to go and dine in and it was disappointing. I only have three stars because of the service. We finally got water AFTER our main course came out. I didn't get what I thought I ordered. The waitress was going to check and see if they were servicing a dish I asked for on the menu. This is a new restaurant doing some things well and others not as much. Most of the food we tried was delicious. However, the service is a little chaotic. Despite the place being quite busy for a Wednesday night, I was seated at the last two-top available right away, given a menu and water. However, it then took 20 min for the waiter to come over. After looking at the menu and seeing nothing like entrees, we had asked the host about the specials on the board - listed VERY simply ("lamb chops, prawns, octopus; market price"). When the waiter eventually came by (Finally! But just to take drink orders?!) I asked again about specials (i had to ask), he mentioned a couple the host hadn't, and not the ones he did. It was all a little confusing if you wanted to order anything that wasn't on the printed menu--which is starters, salads, skewers, and sandwiches We eventually ordered two starters, the keftedes (greek meatballs) and the grilled manouri cheese; and the prawns. The meatballs came and they were delicious, served with thick yogurt and a paprika dip. I also enjoyed the cheese which was topped with a apple chutney and served with warm pita bread. The market price for the prawns was $24. This was for 3 very large, head-on, in the shell, grilled shrimps. It came with no sides. This makes no sense to me considering the lamb chop special does come with sides. So I suppose, technically, it is another starter. We also ordered a side of the roasted mushrooms. It was a nice assortment of Asian mushrooms (mostly oyster and shimeji). Seasoned with salt, herbs, garlic, and olive oil. We felt it could use a little more seasoning, maybe some lemon juice? So back to the shrimps. They looked great and tasted good at first, but proved to be undercooked at the thicker end. We pointed this out to the owner (who was expediting at the open kitchen near our table) and it was replaced. Finally, the bill. We were charged for an extra glass of wine, so the bill had to be corrected. Check your bill. Also note the suggested tips are based on the total including tax. The waiter brought over a couple complementary desserts for us to try. They are made in-house. The baklava was good. But the orange cake was excellent, definitely recommended. read more

My husband and I went to dinner on a quiet Monday night. We were the only customers as people seemed to be afraid of the storm approaching. This turned out to be fortunate for us. The owners, he, the chef and Anna his wife couldn't be nicer or more attentive. And the food was the best Greek cuisine I've had. The whole grilled branzino was cooked perfectly. It's my favorite fish and the one dish I order whenever we are in a Greek restaurant. The sides were excellent and generous. My husband is a vegetarian and had the lemon potatoes, giant beans and grilled veggies. He loved his meal. We were treated to dessert. Stopped in for lunch expecting standard Greek fare. What we had was an exquisite experience in a great venue. Friendly staff - from our server, to the manager and our chef who came out to greet us. Our meat platter for two was cooked to perfection and overly abundant as far as serving goes. The olive oil they use is from Greece and exquisite and found in their appetizer, salads and their most amazing potatoes. Calamari was crisp and done in a light tasty batter. You will be full from your meal however need to leave room or take home a piece of their homemade baklava - made with fresh walnuts and honey from Greece. Two of us had the chicken souvlaki with fries stuffed inside, again amazing. And one of us had the lamb burger, which could not have been juicier or better to bite in to. We finished with the chocolate ferrero dessert... it was airy with chocolate mousse, smooth with the ganache frosting, and crunchy from the little chocolate ball toppings. Apparently this place is under new management, and it's a lot different than it used to be. We went here for dinner and it was one of the WORST experiences I've ever had at any restaurant. The main issue is that the kitchen moves at a sloths pace. It took literally 2 hours to get our food, no kidding. The cooks have no idea what they're doing. So beware, if you go here expecting to get out at a decent time, pack your sleeping bags, you're in for a long wait. And it's not like it was busy either. Half the place was empty, yet the kitchen couldn't keep up. Oh, and they totally forgot about our appetizer, which we had to ask for again and again. The only good part of the entire experience was the waiter, who was very understanding, and told us he didn't even want to be there. He was new and you could tell that he was just as stressed as us about the slow pace of the kitchen. I hope he moves on to a better restaurant that gives him more of an opportunity to thrive. The poor guy was getting yelled at by the customers, even though it wasn't his fault. Oh, and finally when we did get the food, it was nothing to write home about. The meat platter was dry and they forgot to give us one of our sides. At that point though, we didn't even care. We just took it to go and said goodbye to this place forever. read more

We had quite a few starters and my husband had a gyro while I enjoyed a spinach pie. Grilled octopus, farmer salad, agvolemono soup. The freshness of choice ingredients prepared with care provided us with a delicious meal. The place was clean and the decor fresh and charming. Anna, the owner brought us some hummus and the flavor was light and satisfying. We will return this this restaurant and can't wait to try more. I was fortunate to be able to attend the soft opening of this restaurant last night. I definitely recommend that you try it as soon as possible. The food was absolutely delicious. Not one item on the tasting menu disappointed. Although I have (unfortunately) never been to Greece, I have many Greek friends and know that this is authentically 'Athens cuisine'. As an Art Director and photographer, I'll begin with the decor and ambience of the restaurant. Upon entering, you feel an immediate sense of comfort and familiarity. The warm light, rustic tables and chairs, the white emblazoned cookware wall and overall inviting setting makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. Our waiter, Bobby, was from Greece and an absolute delight. He was friendly and attentive. He thoroughly explained the special tasting menu and immediately took our orders. We began with the Starters: the Eggplant Spread, the Tzatziki Spread and the Meatballs. I am a vegetarian and can honestly tell you that the spreads are dishes that I could eat on a daily basis. They were absolutely delicious. My two friends that accompanied me had the meatballs with the tomato paprika dip and just raved about them. Next up on the menu were the Salads. We selected the Greek Village Salad and the Dakos (all vegetarian and gluten free). The ingredients in each were extremely fresh and bursting with flavor. Onto the entrees... we ordered the Veggie Souvlaki and the Beefteki. Again, as a vegetarian, I only personally tried the Veggie Souvlaki - and, it was very delicious. As I understand, they grill the ingredients over Olive Briquettes. This gives the food a uniquely, delicious taste. My friends raved about the Beefteki. Upon arrival at the table, they questioned the lack of sauce - just a half lemon was included, but after tasting it were so satisfied and surprised. Finally, we were ready to enjoy dessert. We were served Walnut Cake and Orange Cake. Both were moist and bursting with the flavors in the name. This was the perfect finish to the amazing meal! tonight I took my whole family (9of us) to dinner here. Our table was ready when we got there everyone greeted us very nicely. They came by with water and took our order pretty quickly. Our dinner reservations was at 730, we didn't get our food until after 830. And it showed up sporadically one dish here one dish there we didn't all eat at the same time. worse than that, we kept asking for the young children's food to be brought out first. it was brought out last! We then received our $55 seafood platter and began to eat, half the food on the platter was actually cold, but the worst part was eating a SPOILED prawn! not only did they have bad odor but when you put it in your mouth ( yes I actually tasted it) you couldn't mistake the taste of bad seafood. I immediately spit the food out and stopped eating. But my niece actually ate a half a prawn before she said I think this is bad, it doesn't taste right! Hope she doesn't get sick. my sons ordered pizza, (granted who orders pizza at a Greek restaurant?) he kept saying that it tasted like ketchup, well it Was pita with ketchup and cheese melted on top. What a horrible experience. We ended up spending so much money, half of us went home hungry. We can blame a lot of things on COVID, the service, the slow kitchen, but there is no excuse for putting out food that is not fresh! We did decide to stop at Chick-fil-A on the way home. Came here for lunch with my family during the week and the service was terrible. I have been here several times and the service is always terrible when the young blonde waiter is working. He never refills water and avoids the table at all cost unless he is finally bringing out the food. We saw several tables sit down after us and finish their lunches before ours even arrived. Most of the food is very tasty. We did not like the octopus since it tasted like char but we couldn't even let the waiter know we were not happy since he never returned to our table after serving the entrees. Saturday night....5 empty tables outside and 3 empty tables inside with an additional table leaving. The hostess was too busy talking to a couple to acknowledge us until an uncomfortable amount of time passed. Despite the multiple empty tables she told us there was nothing available. Everything was reserved. What kind of management is that? You save no tables for walk ins? We inquired further as to the time of the reservations and how long they would hold them when a man in a suit approached. Initially thinking he may be more helpful, more business savvy, quickly I was mistaken. He was more rude and unprofessional. Neither one of them had an issue with letting a party of 4 walk away with so many tables empty. 45 min later I did a walk through. There were still 4 empty tables. More than half of the occupied tables still had menus out so I guess that was a good sign that it worked out in our favor. In the mean time we had moved next door to Nonna's. Every table was full and the host greeted us with a warm welcome. She never demanded to know about a reservation and told us it would be a 20min wait. Maybe the "new management" at the Oliv Pit should walk next door for some lessons. Needless to say, my rating is not food based and we won't go back to risk finding out if the food is like the service. read more

It was anything but special. The meat was not cooked well enough and was too mushie. I ordered French fries but it came w lemon potatoes. The appetizer dips were bland, Except for tzaziki. I have never seen a a hummus of the consistency like that before, it was runny. My friends ordered soft drinks and never got them. I also didn't realize that when you order fries with the pita that they put the fries into the pita wrap itself not as a side of fries. Went for dinner. Decor is cute. Service minimally acceptable. I say that because when we finished our appetizer, the server had us share our entree platter on the dirty appetizer plates. I was truly shocked. One meal (gyro) arrived and 10 minutes later the other meal arrived. The food was awful. Quite tasteless. When you put on your menu that the dish comes with salad, putting shredded lettuce, scallions and some olives under the meat is not a salad, it's a garnish. The beef lamb burgers were tasteless and the consistency was grainy. The beef kabobs were okay, but whatever the other meat was, it was not chicken. Additionally, the skewer split leaving wood pieces in the meat. I did bring that to the servers attention and got a shrug in return. We will not return. Marcos, what are you talking about? You serve a dish for 2 that costs $38.00 that contains gyro meat x2, burgers x2 and 4 skewers of either beef, pork, chicken, or vegetables. Call it a kabob or a skewer, whatever. Decided to try the "Yelp Order" option and it was a bad move - apparently there's huge issues with the restaurant receiving orders that way and they won't get it in time for the suggested pick up time offered by the app. Nevertheless, the woman who received us at the front (maybe the owner?) was incredibly accommodating and ran our order super fast and was really apologetic about the lateness, even though it wasn't her fault. It was soooo worth the extra 15 minute wait. Definitely the best gyro pita I've ever had, ever! The tsatziki was perfectly garlicky and delicious and the French fries were THE BOMB. I'm gonna have to try with feta next time because if they tasted that good by themselves, I can only imagine what a little cheese can do. We ordered seafood platter, the seafood was not fresh and smelled awful. We explained this to our waitress and she sent the manager to us. The manager asked us to explain how the octopus smells because it was just made 3 hours ago while the waitress told us it was made in the morning. We didn't eat most of the dish and yet no accommodation was made on the bill. They charged us $8 more. What an awful management and customer service. There are many other options. I passed this cute little restaurant while driving by and decided to give it a try for dinner. It is a cute and very clean little restaurant situated in a strip mall. It has a small interior seating area as well as an outdoor seating area with heat lamps. The menu had lots of options even for people who are vegetarian and/or gluten free. My friend and I started with a fava dip that came with little pita triangles to dip with and it was very good. My friend had the pita wrap with salmon and I had the Greek salad. I thought the food was good and the feta in my salad was delicious. The only issue we had was slow service and my friend requested no French fries in her pita wrap and they forgot to take them out. They also initially gave us the wrong check. Overall, this would never deter me from coming back here as I feel this place has great potential and it was a very solid meal. I did notice that they are under new management so maybe they have some kinks to work out. I think it would also be a great lunch place.
