I am impressed with the tasty food! This is another fast casual restaurant in a strip mall. Order, pay and pick up food at the counter. Falafel was fried on the spot and my bowl entree was ready in a few minutes. There were not customers at the restaurant. I'm always looking for a fairly healthy option when I'm in the Boca area and have been to Olive U a few times based on the reviews. Lately the bigger chain bowl spots (like the one nearby in the same plaza) have gotten tired and the flavors all blend together. I love the options here and quick ordering. My faves are: - Olive U chicken: grilled chicken seasoned with oregano, garlic, and herbs. - Chicken Shawarma: grilled chicken seasoned with cumin, curry, and garlic. - Lentil rice: proteinaceous rice base option? Sign me up! - Tofu and falafel as protein options: This makes dining here with a vegetarian MUCH easier. I've tried the Baklava and wasn't super impressed, so I'd give that a skip. Usually I'm not one for chain restaurants but when in Rome...aka in the company of those who do you tend to go with the crowd. I must say that the food was surprisingly good and affordable. I would describe this place as the chipotle of Mediterranean food. You start with your base - lettuce, rice, or in a pita and build from there with your toppings and protein. The toppings aren't as plentiful as some places I have gone before, but they were a good selection and the falafel had a good flavor to it. I would definitely stop by here again. read more

Very meh? Decent portion and friendly staff - sort of a Chipolte set up for meditarrian food with clearly labeled veg, GF, etc on menu which is helpful. Just not much flavor overall. I did ask for a teeny side to taste of the baba gnosh and was not expecting to be paying another dollar for just that and sadly - again not much flavor, The fries are to be avoided here - just teeny overcooked pieces - one of the saddest priciest fried I have gotten - even dear son passed after trying one. We are regulars at a handful of places and see the same staff over and over again, where they act like they're seeing us for the first time. Not David. We stopped here and had a good lunch. Prices are fairly reasonable. There's no real "service", but we were greeted on entering the door. You order at the counter -- going down the line -- and pay at the end. You carry your own food to your table and drinks are self serve. This is fast food or to put it another way, it's a chipotle's meal in a bowl, but with middle eastern style food choices. First you choose your base, then your protein, then toppings and any sauce/dressing. Full disclosure -- I'm not the biggest fan of having my food all mushed together or even in layers. I prefer plates -- and real silverware, too. However: We'd been to another branch of this chain in west palm -- and liked it. We were looking for a fast, relatively inexpensive lunch and this was convenient. I selected hummus as my base and added their chicken shawarma. It was touted as their signature/most popular protein by the server. It had curry and cumin on it, but was not supposed to be spicy. I liked the hummus -- it was creamy. But the chicken although "seasoned" was a bit plain and rather dry. I'm not sure if it was just over cooked or because it tasted cooked and then just reheated. I wouldn't get that protein ever again. I also chose various salad toppings -- tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, and garbanzo beans -- that I thought would go with the hummus. My husband tried one of their rice bases (the rice pilaf) topped with another style chicken (also rather dry) and various toppings with a couple different sauces. They were quite busy at lunch time -- and were doing a lot of takeout. We sat inside, but it was a low humidity day and quite a few patrons sat outside to eat. I'm glad we tried them.
