Both were underwhelming, and failed to deliver on taste. The highlight of our visit was the Down the Hatch, an espresso based drink with vanilla and sweet cream. Knowing that, we expected it might take a little longer and waited in the car. After a bit, I went to check on our order, but before I could even say anything, she immediately apologized and explained that she had run out of Alfredo sauce and was making a fresh batch for us. I was completely fine with that and super sweet to her after, who wouldn't want fresh sauce? But what really stood out was what she did after. Not only did she personally bring the food out to our car, but she also included extra bread and a sweet treat to make up for the wait. That level of kindness and care is rare. I'm local to Austin, and I can confidently say this place is worth going out of your way for. Finally, the gravy was perfect from the amount of sausage to the elegant "sage-iness" of the bite. With respect to the quantity of gravy, it is not uncommon for places to not give enough gravy. The ratio of gravy to biscuit must be difficult to master, well they've done it at Northern D'Lights!! Just incredible experience and we will be back, on the regular!
