    Calling our server
    Dale B.

Every time I visit Olive Garden...the place is CRAZY busy!! Personally I like a relaxed dinning experience. We came because we have a gift card. It's hard to relax when the lobby is crowded, the wait is long and people come in the door every 45 seconds. Outside of that...here is my review: Olive Garden has really embraced technology. They will contact you via text once you are added the wait list. The text includes a link to watch where you are at in the queue. The screen at the table does a nice job at letting you see what your menu item looks like. You could order from this if you like. And of course the waitress will help you pay via this machine. The restaurant is very large and moves people quickly. The lobby is a decent size and comfortable with padded seats. However, the crowd here fills the lobby quickly and then it becomes uncomfortable. Note to parents: make your children hive up their west to an older person and/or a female. Use this environment to teach some manners! The decor is fresh and attractive. The dinning room is also spacious. I felt very comfortable once we were seated. We hit the dinner hour at a rush apparently. I'm certain the staff was stressed due to the volume of people and wait time. This said...the hostess was not friendly. She didn't smile or make you feel welcome. She was going through the motions until quitting time. She forgot to give us our table service which caused me to hunt someone down to help me. Our waitress was probably also stressed. She was friendly and very conversational. She was very sweet when it came time to pay the bill. To start...she made an off hand comment about my wife ordering the soup & salad combo..."that's all you are going to order with all the menu items we have?" You could tell she was put off that we didn't order and appetizer or alcoholic beverages. Guess our table of two and low dollar order wasn't going to generate an acceptable tip. Our waitress was very slow to bring refills. We used the call button on the device to get her attention since we didn't get any table service. After about a 4 minute wait I went and found another waitress to help me. One of the most delightful parts of the night was the older black lady that brought out our good. She was super friendly and cheerful. She made us feel special and glad we were there. She took my special request to get grated Parmesan cheese and brought me a special cup. The waitress said that she didn't even know this request could be done. Well done ma'am. Sorry I didn't catch your name!! As for the food...I thought the breads were tough on the outside. The inside was so-so soft. The outside had a nice buttery and Parmesan taste. Not the best breadsticks I've had...but still good. The salad is very good. I love the fresh tastes. Perhaps a little heavy on the onion and dressing. However all tastes work very well together. Definitely an attraction to come back. I orders the spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The marinara sauce was slightly thick and had a mild level of sweetness. There were three smaller meatballs in this dish. They were very moist and had a slight Italian seasoning. The meat taste was not strong. However...when cut into pieces and mixed with the pasta and sauce...the combination made a delicious meat-marinara sauce! Overall...Olive Garden does a lot of things very well. I can see why people flock to eat here.

Shrimp scampi with broccoli instead of pasta.

This isn't my first time eating here, and it won't be my last. I am on a dietary restriction where I cannot have pasta (good choice to have a meal, right?). The server was very accommodating with my request for substituting broccoli for pasta. On top of that, the manager came to our table and addressed my dietary restrictions to assure me that the kitchen is aware and will comply with my needs. That's great customer concern, in my opinion! The food was good, as is typical of Olive Garden style. My shrimp scampi with broccoli was delicious!! I ate every bit, and I would have licked the palate clean had we not been in a public place. lol The server checked on us enough to provide genuine service, but not so much as to be bothersome. The atmosphere was enjoyable as is typical of Olive Garden. We got there when they opened so there was absolutely no wait time. The restaurant was filling up quickly by the time we left. We'll be dining here again when back in town sometime.

Had a great experience this time around. Nicka was a fantastic waiter. I got the ravioli. It needs more bacon on it.

They don't reserve tables, hopefully I can get a table of 12. I would be nice for some accommodations instead of crashing in

Hot and miss. Sometimes excellent and other times, meh. Just too expensive for what you get. Not a great value

The service at this Olive Garden was impeccable, and the food I got was absolutely magnificent, this place has it down.

Dash In - historic downtown breakfast or lunch option…read more First off...Dash In won't appeal to everyone. The prices are a bit high compared to other places with similar food items. Parking may be a challenge depending on the time of day. And the dinning area is small. Dash In has been a downtown Fort Wayne eatery option for many years. They are located on Calhoun Street next to Pint & Slice and a couple blocks south of the court house. This restaurant has retained the vintage building feel. The interior brick and wood work are very attractive to go along with the more modern decor. The bar is very attractive. They have a very small street level outside patio if that is your preference. The shop is very small. I'm guessing the bar seats about 10 people. The main dinning area probably seats about 40. The team here is very friendly and welcoming. They hustle to serve. We went on a late Sunday afternoon and didn't not have to wait. I don't think they take reservations. There are lots of people coming and going with carry out orders. Today we had no problem finding a street parking spot. There is a parking garage nearby if no street spots are available. The menu is actually fairly broad. They have a special brunch menu along with a breakfast all day menu. There were several sandwiches and wraps available. A couple salads too. The coffee and alcoholic drink menus were very large. We didn't have either of these products this time so I can't give you any feedback on them. They have a special soup du jour and deli side selection. Today it was a mushroom arugula soup and caprese salad side. My wife loves breakfast and ordered a make-to-order omelette with a side of grilled vegetables. She really liked the light tasting eggs and fresh tasting vegetables. The tomato bisque soup is one of their staples. It is delicious and would be great with a grilled cheese sandwich from the menu. The soup was smooth and creamy. It had a gentle tomato flavor along with a more predominant milk/cream base. The soup surprisingly has a stronger spicy after taste - still outstandingly delicious! The side salad is very simple. It has a combination of fresh spring mix lettuce along with a minimal amount of onion, cheese and red pepper. The honey mustard dressing was smooth, creamy, thick and a bit spicy. It was mild on the honey/sweet taste while stronger on the mustard accent. The Italian panini sandwich was very good. The ciabatta bread was slightly grilled with a firmer exterior but not crunchy. The bread had a very freshly baked taste. The sandwich had a high quality tasting ham, pepperoni, salami and provolone cheese. The meats weren't piled high...but enough to get the flavor from each. The grilled onions and banana peppers gave the sandwich a nice zing. The pleasant aioli sauce moistened the sandwich and blended the spicy meats with the zippy onions and banana peppers. Overall the food quality was excellent yet a bit more costly than you might expect. The service was spot on and helped make it a pleasant dinning experience. The older building design, if you like that, adds to the overall experience. Give them a try!
