Haven't been to Olive Garden in a very long time. Decided to go. Not very busy at opening time so it was pretty quiet and nice. Our server was bubbly and made great conversation while taking our order. We opted for the lighter portion side of the menu. Husband had the spaghetti and meatballs with salad while I had the chicken parmigiana with salad. We also added the Alfredo dipping sauce for the breadsticks. Everything was delicious. It was a hot summer evening this past Saturday and we were not in the mood for a heavy meal. Surprisingly, we were warmly greeted and seated within minutes...no wait (which this location seems to be known for)! We ordered the limitless soup and salad. The salad was served with chilled salad bowls (a plus) and was light, crisp, and delicious (lettuces, matchstick carrots, sliced red onion, tomatoes, ripe olives, a couple of whole pepperoncini, their famous vinaigrette, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese as desired. A perfect dish for such a hot and humid day! Soups were brothy (another plus, as we aren't looking for thick, flour-laden soup). Hubby's fav is the Pasta Fagiole, mine the Zuppa Toscana. We sampled (shared) the Chicken Gnocchi and were pleasantly surprised at its soothing flavor. Husband enjoyed the warm freshly baked breadsticks...me, I avoid the simple white flour carbs, even tho they may be tasty! Every time I visit Olive Garden...the place is CRAZY busy!! Personally I like a relaxed dinning experience. We came because we have a gift card. It's hard to relax when the lobby is crowded, the wait is long and people come in the door every 45 seconds. Outside of that...here is my review: Olive Garden has really embraced technology. They will contact you via text once you are added the wait list. The text includes a link to watch where you are at in the queue. The screen at the table does a nice job at letting you see what your menu item looks like. You could order from this if you like. And of course the waitress will help you pay via this machine. The restaurant is very large and moves people quickly. The lobby is a decent size and comfortable with padded seats. However, the crowd here fills the lobby quickly and then it becomes uncomfortable. Note to parents: make your children hive up their west to an older person and/or a female. Use this environment to teach some manners! The decor is fresh and attractive. The dinning room is also spacious. I felt very comfortable once we were seated. We hit the dinner hour at a rush apparently. I'm certain the staff was stressed due to the volume of people and wait time. This said...the hostess was not friendly. She didn't smile or make you feel welcome. She was going through the motions until quitting time. She forgot to give us our table service which caused me to hunt someone down to help me. Our waitress was probably also stressed. She was friendly and very conversational. She was very sweet when it came time to pay the bill. To start...she made an off hand comment about my wife ordering the soup & salad combo..."that's all you are going to order with all the menu items we have?" You could tell she was put off that we didn't order and appetizer or alcoholic beverages. Guess our table of two and low dollar order wasn't going to generate an acceptable tip. Our waitress was very slow to bring refills. We used the call button on the device to get her attention since we didn't get any table service. After about a 4 minute wait I went and found another waitress to help me. One of the most delightful parts of the night was the older black lady that brought out our good. She was super friendly and cheerful. She made us feel special and glad we were there. She took my special request to get grated Parmesan cheese and brought me a special cup. The waitress said that she didn't even know this request could be done. Well done ma'am. Sorry I didn't catch your name!! As for the food...I thought the breads were tough on the outside. The inside was so-so soft. The outside had a nice buttery and Parmesan taste. Not the best breadsticks I've had...but still good. The salad is very good. I love the fresh tastes. Perhaps a little heavy on the onion and dressing. However all tastes work very well together. Definitely an attraction to come back. I orders the spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The marinara sauce was slightly thick and had a mild level of sweetness. There were three smaller meatballs in this dish. They were very moist and had a slight Italian seasoning. The meat taste was not strong. However...when cut into pieces and mixed with the pasta and sauce...the combination made a delicious meat-marinara sauce! Overall...Olive Garden does a lot of things very well. This isn't my first time eating here, and it won't be my last. I am on a dietary restriction where I cannot have pasta (good choice to have a meal, right?). The server was very accommodating with my request for substituting broccoli for pasta. On top of that, the manager came to our table and addressed my dietary restrictions to assure me that the kitchen is aware and will comply with my needs. That's great customer concern, in my opinion! The food was good, as is typical of Olive Garden style. My shrimp scampi with broccoli was delicious!! I ate every bit, and I would have licked the palate clean had we not been in a public place. lol The server checked on us enough to provide genuine service, but not so much as to be bothersome. The atmosphere was enjoyable as is typical of Olive Garden. We got there when they opened so there was absolutely no wait time. The restaurant was filling up quickly by the time we left. My new husband and I love Olive Garden. We knew when we were getting married we were going to have Olive Garden cater. They do deliver, but our venue was just a bit out of their range of delivery so we had to pick it up. That was no issue. They even called to let us know to bring a large car to make sure it all fit! Seriously, that is customer service. We got 20 build your own pasta stations, which was more than enough to feed our guest list of 150. The pasta was fresh, the sauce tasted amazing, and the breadsticks were a HIT. The stations came with two pasta options, three sauce options, and three meat options, making it so everybody could make exactly what they wanted. The stations also came with breadsticks, a side salad, salad dressing, croutons, and mints for after dinner! They also have optional warming stations that you can purchase with the food. It was roughly around $2900 for all of the food and warming stations. That was way less than what we would have spent on another caterer. All in all, I WILL be ordering Olive Garden for all of my future events, and will recommend them to everybody I can think of. I honestly don't know how this place stays open. Before last night I hadn't eaten there in 8 years. It was awful then and I'm here to report that it has remained consistent. The place always smells like a potpourri of feet & farts. I assume it's the mildewed carpet. The waitress was sweet but air-headed. She gave us the salad minus the dressing & realized it as she left it at the table. 20 minutes later she returned with two cups of dressing. The zuppa was like dishwater (with those chunks of food after washing dishes). Even the breadsticks suck now. With the other Italian options in FTW I won't ever be back to OG. Boooooo to OG. I thought my GC was good for OG. When I went to pay the tab the server told me it wasn't to their restaurant. I was so embarrassed. I told him I didn't have any other way to pay. My debit card had gotten hacked and I was waiting for my new one. He contacted his manager and she came to the table and she refused to take my $6 and the GC in lue of payment. Or comp the entire bill she wanted me to leave my DL and come back when I could go to the bank. Mind you this was Saturday afternoon so I couldn't come back till Monday. I explained what happened and asked again. By this time I was so so embarrassed and couldn't believe she was being so contrite. Finally she made the poor server pay out bill. I felt terrible and she told him he was not allowed to take my GC. I waited till she walked away and I handed him the GC and told him there was $6 extra dollars on it and I left him my $6 that I had on me. He shouldn't have had to pay and even though she shouldn't have had to comp my bill for my mistake I was willing to exchange my GC for the bill. I will never go there again. Not only that they have now started to water down the soups. The only one that was decent was the chicken gnocchi but there was barely any chicken in it. All gnocchi. So it was my first time going and for the drinks I ordered a coke. The coke came and it tasted really good, some restaurant drink always taste different and that tasted good. So then I got some breadsticks, my cousin told me that it has its own flavor and that flavor tasted oddly sweet, like a 6/10, not my cup of tea. As much as I'd like to give 4 stars, alas, I cannot. The customer service here is awesome. My server was equally awesome, the food is mediocre. I don't have anything horribly wrong or super great, it was all just mediocre. I will give them hype points for presentation, they just need to get the fast to match the presentation. -- I find that maybe I've not been as fair as I should with Olive Garden the Chicken Marsala is just awesome and service is always great. . Unfortunately most of our visit was not great. Went with a group of 6 13 year olds who wanted to order off the kids menu because they dont eat the larger adult portions. Was told no- you have to be 12. Ended up spending a whole lot more and every single one ate less than half their meal. I would understand if we were a group of adults asking to order off the kids menu But this is just a sleazy way to make more money off customers. Then the chicken made one of the girls sick. It was a large salad, but it only had two small tomatoes, two black olives, two hot peppers and it was practically overflowing with lettuce. That's it! The one thing that Olive Garden is consistent on is their customer service! I have had lunch there twice in the last few weeks and their service is on point! Their staff is friendly, fun and prompt. We were greeted promptly upon arrival. Our wait was about 10 minutes as it was not crowded for a Friday night. Our waitress was impeccable to say the least. The food was hot upon arrival and tasted great. However, when we tried to pay with the little kiosk at the table it would not work correctly. Even the waitress had trouble with it. She had to have the manager process our check. In my personal opinion I think that Olive garden should get rid of these albatrosses.
