Instead, we got something much better -- Cody. From the moment he greeted us, Cody was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It was long drive back from business meeting, I decided to check Yelp for nearby Olive Garden for lunch and so needed being here. Being familiar with menu items and my order it was smooth ordering ...Lunch special all you can eat salad soup and breadsticks!! .. and glass of red wine.. dressing for salad on side with Tabasco sauce to sprinkle on it as I choose .. no cheese topping on salad. Also Minestrone soup , breadsticks comes with it served by pleasant waitress Cat- Catherine. While waiting for food checked menu on kiosk on the table which is placed on all tables. .. and liked Cheese Cake with strawberry caught my attention being starving so as soon as I got finished eating added this item to go with waitress. Then checked my bill on this kiosk added tip and paid it using credit card while waiting for my to go order of the Cheesecake... Haven't been in a while. Always find something I like. I mix it up with various dishes but normally get the shrimp scampi. A nice light dish that still fills you up. This place was okay for a quick dinner. The atmosphere is nice and clean. The server was great and attentive. The food was okay.... I had chicken and shrimp carbonara with like red peppers and bacon bits. I think the bacon was a little overwhelming and didn't like the combo. It was also VERY greasy. There was like a puddle of grease at the bottom of the dish. Honestly I only came here because I had a gift card. If you want some comfort food, this place is good for a quick fix. We are in town for business, so after a long day, my wife, her uncle and his wife a family friend and my wife's grandmother decided to get a meal at Olive Garden. First and foremost the service was outstanding, I feel stupid for forgetting her name, but I regret only tipping her 20%, I should have done at least 25%, she was great. Picked Olive Garden over some local Italian because we thought quality would be better. Ordered a large catering size dinner and some sides. My boyfriend gets home with it and the pasta is missing from the main dish. So our Saturday night dinner ended up with me feeding the kids while he drove back to pick up the rest of the main dish we paid for; then he gets to eat when he gets home and I reheated everything. This wasn't just one person's dinner. It was a $60 main dish. Oh they threw in a couple pieces of cake for it. Sorry not acceptable. So far I am pleasantly surprised with the experience at Olive Garden. We must have one of those awesome servers. Eric is amazing! This guy went way beyond what a normal service provides. He brought a taste of all the soups for us to have even though we only wanted just one. He also made a coffee drink for my wife not even on the menu. My wife and I had our usual and they were done perfectly and very tasty. My friends meal was not correct. steak was medium rare and was to be well done. As any fine restaurant does it was replaced and we never saw it on the bill. They got it right and no charged us. I never once had to ask for water, the glass was refilled supplying me with endless water. Always a good meal and enjoyed the evening. Parking never a problem. I come here often with extended family. As a large group with several kids, this restaurant is always accommodating. I like that they offer wine samples, but I hardly get it. This was my 1st time coming here in maybe 10 years (first time was at a different location in California). I always see YouTubers rave about it and I can understand why now. The interior is decorated like a Tuscan building with faux wood beam vaulted ceilings, ceramic pots and fake olive bushes. I liked how fancy it felt inside. Waiters wore black and white button-ups and they served you a free tasting of moscato before they took your order to see if you were interested in having a bottle. They bring tray stands to your table when they bring you food and every dish can be topped with freshly grated parmesan. Each table also has a tablet on which you can order food or play games. We tried a passion fruit margarita cocktail and a kiwi melon limonata drink (non-alcoholic) and thought they were nice. The kiwi melon drink tasted like it was made with a syrup. They have a $12.99 endless pasta option where you choose a pasta, a sauce, and a meat/protein topping. When you finish your dish, you can get a "refill" and choose a different pasta, sauce and topping. Pasta options include: mushroom ravioli, cheese ravioli, cheese tortelloni, stuffed ziti etc. Sauce options included red meat sauce and a few others. Topping options were fried shrimp, grilled chicken and more. My fiance ended up getting this option with 1 refill (that you can take home to-go). I got the shrimp scampi (550 calories) and thought it was great. It wasn't as buttery/greasy as other shrimp scampis I've had (which is nice). For dessert we tried the chocolate lasagna and lemon cake. I liked that the lemon cake was half the calories of the chocolate lasagna and was a lot lighter in texture. The chocolate lasagna was dense and the white layer seemed to be cream cheese frosting. It would have been nice for the white layer to be a fluffy mascarpone-like custard/meringue. Your entree comes with a side soup or salad. My fiance got the gnocchi and chicken soup and I got the side salad. The side salad is huge and you don't get an option for dressing (I actually like when they don't give you the option because I feel like they know what compliments their salad best). I think the dressing was Italian dressing. The salad had tomatoes, onion, olives, croutons, and grated cheese. They don't take reservations but you can put your name 15 minutes ahead on their online waiting list. We did that and waited 10 minutes in the store. They have a spacious lobby and plenty of parking outside. You get free garlic breadsticks that you can refill. Overall, I can see why YouTubers get hyped over this chain Italian restaurant. Our waitress was really friendly. The only real downside I can find was that the forks in the napkins were dirty. read more

Stopped here for lunch one day and was part of a group of eight. We were not even greeted when we entered the restaurant. Hostess started to seat us before the rest of be party even arrived. Once we stated it was a group of eight, it was a 10 minute wait even though the restaurant was practically empty. I understand large parties can be annoying but our waiter just seemed to have a chip on his shoulder from the second we sat down. One of my friends entrees was incredibly late. The rest of us had eaten our entrees and we're discussing leftovers while my friend still hadn't gotten her food. I enjoyed my lunch at Olive Garden because it was quick, reasonably priced and filling. I ordered the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks while my dining partner ordered the grilled chicken florentine panini, soup, and salad. We split the panini. The panini was pretty good; not particularly memorable, but tasty nonetheless. We had a refill on the salad; both bowls had crisp ingredients and their signature Italian dressing. My soup was also good; I had two bowls of the zuppa tuscana. I consider it to be a less creamy, not cheesy, version of a typical baked potato soup. I finished the meal with a mini dessert: the strawberry and white chocolate cream cake dolcini. It was just the right size to satisfy my sweet tooth and was the perfect ending to a meal that hit the spot. read more

We visited the Olive Garden on Erie Blvd. East in Syracuse on March 17, 2021. We enjoyed our meal tremendously and the cook did an amazing job on the calamari (most places over cook it). I went there tonight with a large party, five adults and five kids. I feel as though our waitress was over whelmed by how many people were in our group. When she brought out our salad she brought one bowl for ten people to share, we of course asked for a second one since there want enough for three of us. When she brought us our dinners she forgot one of the children's meals, a cheese pizza. By the time the child finally got her meal everyone was done eating and she had eaten off of everyone else's plates. Everyone who ordered alfredo received dry pasta, we had to ask for extra sauce. We went there for a date night, really looking forward to it since we hadn't been there in a while. Karl, as always, was looking out for me, and made sure the hostess gave me a gluten-free menu. I was really surprised, though, at how short that menu was. One soup; the family-size salad (order without croutons); three entrees, each with gluten-free spiral pasta; a couple of kids items. I made sure our waitress knew I was ordering from the gluten-free menu, although I didn't feel the need to get into how critical it is. I assumed since I was ordering from that menu, she would get it. I ordered the chicken parm, Karl got spaghetti and meatballs, and we agreed to have the family salad. When the salad came, I said, "That doesn't have croutons, does it?" You know, just checking -- I assumed she had left them off. "Well, no. You didn't say that." She picked up the salad and left, looking a little irritated. She came back a few minutes later with what I hope was a fresh salad (not just the same one with the croutons removed), and with dressing on the side just in case. She offered to get me an oil and vinegar mix, because she didn't know if the dressing was gluten-free or not. I opted to just eat my salad plain. A few minutes later our entrees arrived. Mine came with spaghetti and a suspicious looking crumble on top of the chicken. When the waitress came over to offer me freshly grated cheese, I asked her about the spaghetti. "I thought the gluten-free pasta was spirals?" "I ordered the chicken parm like you wanted, and that's what they put on there, so it should be gluten-free. Do you want me to get you the spirals instead?" By this time I was starting to get really stressed out. "You need to understand, I get really sick if I get gluten. I can't depend on 'should be.' It has to be for sure." "Okay, well, that's why I'm going to get you the spirals." She was smiling, but the smile didn't make it to her eyes or her voice. She took away my plate, and I told Karl to go ahead and eat while his food was hot. While we waited for my food to arrive, we saw a manager go past, and Karl flagged her down, so I could explain to her what was going on. I told her about the problems we'd had, and said that our waitress was working to fix them, but in the meantime I was feeling really stressed out. The manager apologized and said she would do something really special for us to make up for it. It took a long time for my food to arrive. Karl was almost finished eating. The food tasted good, plenty of cheese, pasta al dente, but the chicken was tough -- even cutting it with a steak knife was a little hard. I wonder how long it had sat. It wasn't burnt, just tough. I ate about half and left the rest, and for anyone who knows me that's a big deal -- I ALWAYS either finish my food, or get a box to bring it home. This was not worth bringing home. Time to pay the bill. They have these little machines at each table called Ziosks which allow you to pay your bill right there with a credit or debit card, so you don't have to give your card to a server. Karl looked at our bill, and saw that we'd actually been charged twice for my chicken parm! Thought the manager was going to do something "special" for us -- that was special all right! We called her over again, and she was surprised to find that we were finished and ready to pay and leave. She assured Karl that putting the 2nd chicken parm on the bill was just part of the process, she wasn't done fixing our bill, just give her a minute. When she came back with a print-out of our bill, not only had she comped my meal, she had comped Karl's as well, leaving us to pay only for our drinks and tax -- just over $6. I really appreciated her doing that -- it went a long way to making me feel better about the situation. But I still left the restaurant saying to Karl, I don't think I want to go back there. read more

I remember a long time ago I ordered a pasta dish and the middle was frozen... FROZEN, like a lean cuisine that needed more time in the microwave. Actually, all of the pasta meals remind me of some type of frozen entree menu item. Like those frozen stauffer mac and cheese meals, which might actually be a better choice. But, with that said, I will admit that we go here maybe once a year (twice, tops) for soup, salad and breadsticks. Can't really go wrong with that. The minestrone is my favorite, and my husband likes the chicken and gnocchi. Not amazing soup, but it's conveniently located on Erie blvd where most of our errands are. And it's a light yet filling lunch when we aren't looking for anything fancy. The last time we were here, I said yes to a sample of wine and the glass had two lipstick marks on it... it truly looked like the glass was just used by someone and reused for my wine sample. We told the waitress and she took it away to clean the glass but I didn't bother trying the wine since I was too grossed out.
