Our waitress greeted us quickly and brought out some crispy Italian bread with garlic butter. For appetizer I chose the Italian wedding soup and it was amazing. For dinner the flank steak with mushroom gravy and garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and potatoes creamy and garlicky. I ate half of entree and tried the coffee ice cream pie. The coffee ice cream could have been more coffee flavor but it was good with a chocolate crust. The waitress informed us all deserts are made in house. It was really a delicious dinner. read more

Always get reservations Don't get the special steak on the menu very fatty lots of grizzle pieces. The fried Mozzarella was ok but didn't really taste fresh breaded and fried tasted previously frozen. Server nice and polite but when ready and waiting to pay she clearly had my bill just needed to hand off for my signature but actually stayed at table next to me to chat and take orders. We came to Delmonico's on a Friday night before graduation weekend in Syracuse, so we understood it would be busy. We had reservations for 7:15 PM but were not seated until 8:40 PM. While the staff was courteous, the restaurant did not seem prepared for the volume of guests during such a major weekend. I came here for dinner on a Sunday--Easter, to be exact--and it was pretty busy. I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time because you'll get seated much quicker. Overall, the food was good, but nothing I would rave about. The service was solid, though--our server did a great job. One thing I really enjoyed was the asparagus. That was easily a 10 out of 10 for me, and I would come back just for that. I was a little disappointed because the lasagna was sold out by the time I got there (around 2-3 PM), which I was really looking forward to. Instead, I ordered a grilled chicken Alfredo. It was good--pretty standard Alfredo, nothing over the top, but still enjoyable. My daughter got pizza. She said it tasted good, but it was a little more runny than what she's used to, so she didn't finish it. She's big on texture, so that played a part. I haven't been to Delmonico's in several years and I really wanted to go back and see if it was as good as I remembered. We had a wonderful meal, 2 of the 24oz Delmonico with penne, one Sliced Sirloin with mashed potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. We all thoroughly enjoyed our steaks and all the vegetables were cooked nicely...the bread was crusty and fresh. We ended with the Cappuccino Pie. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and I was very disappointed with the glass of moscato I was served. Instead of it being chilled, it was lukewarm. My husband ordered the chicken marsala and the sauce was a gravy consistency with no trace of the sweetness of a Marsala wine. The angel hair pasta's sauce that was served with my meal was so bland I could not eat it. No refill on water...we did mention to our server the on the Marsala chicken's quality of the sauce, and she made a face and agreed that Marsala sauce should not look or taste like gravy. My husband, when his dish was served to him, would not comment and ate the chicken anyway. My concern is that our server should of brought this to her Manager and the kitchens attention. The 3 of us ate the whole thing but you could easily split it between 5-6 people. You also get free warm bread which is was very good. I ordered the sliced sirloin cooked medium: it was cooked correctly and very tender. I don't typically like mushrooms but the sauce was great. In town because of work , 1st time being here . Heard it's the place to go for a steak ! I got the Delmonico steak $39.95 and like a $5 up charge for garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was amazing , it had a little fat around the edges , but it was an amazing piece of meat , nice crust , ordered medium rare. It was perfect . It's a strange atmosphere with bunch of famous Italian caricatures on the walls, it takes getting used to and honestly on this most recent trip had me second guessing our decision to come here (someone said they have really good steaks). We ordered a few drinks at the bar, bourbon manhattans. There was some confusion because we received a combo manhattan/old fashioned. My guess is these are ordered much here and the bartender was confused. Nonetheless she was attentive and polite. On to the meal, we had a large group so I wasn't expecting anything fast or over the top for service. They did well though, they were able to get drinks and appetizers out quickly and everyone's order in decent time. Also, all 20 dinners were correct, so they're doing good on order accuracy. I didn't have any appetizers but the rest of the group seemed to enjoy them; hold on, actually I did try the Utica Greens and was impressed by them! I ordered a ribeye (medium rare) and asparagus as my entree. The price was around $40 which was in line with most of the other steaks and seafood. When my steak came out it looked very good, a great sear. But the test, was it done right? It was perfectly cooked AND perfectly seasoned. The asparagus was slightly al dente and seasoned as well. Overall a great steak dinner that was a huge surprise. I guess I didn't give Syracuse enough credit. And although the interior is still strange, the food and service makes this a great place to go. For appys we had the pasta fagioli soup, kicked up calamari and stuffed long John's. So good. Hubby and son each had the 24 oz Delmonico, daughter had penne vodka which was spicier than she liked, and I had shrimp scampi, which was a little different than what I was expecting. Stopped here for a Saturday night dinner while in town for work. Over the past several years we have eaten at other Italian places - but thanks to our Consigliere Nicolas, we got a hot tip to try this place. I placed a reservation for 5 at 8:30 and we headed over right after work. I might say that for a proper Italian meal there are crucial pieces and this places nearly went perfect in that regard. To start we ordered drinks and a nice smattering of appetizers to share: Cheese garlic bread (x3): very good bread that was crispy yet soft upon bite - cheese was good but the "rind" of the bread was still crispy. Sauce was TOP NOTCH (9.1/10) Bruschetta: Large amount of the item - ripe tomatoes and garlic - properly dressed with balsamic. Wow. Also incredible. (9.4/10) Mozzarella Fritta: four large half moons of cheese deep fried to a golden brown and resting upon that heavenly sauce (9.1/10) For my entree, I ordered and asked if they could do a chicken parmigiana which is not explicitly on the menu. They said they could - and it was very good. It comes with angel hair pasta and red sauce - which the angel hair was good - but just mushed together. If I could I would have asked for penne or maybe rigatoni instead. The chicken itself (2 large pieces) was very good - medium thickness but fried perfectly. For dessert I ordered the amaretto cheesecake as I had never had that flavor. Problem with it was it was dressed with raspberry sauce on top. The flavor of the raspberry is very powerful and took away from tasting the amaretto. We also got a pumpkin cheesecake which was the best one I have ever had in my life. There is no exaggeration to this - creamy, perfect notes of spice, pumpkin, and cinnamon. Wow. What keeps this from a perfect 5 was the service was very spotty. We would order something or ask for refills and not see our waitress for a hefty amount of time. Still very good and I would highly recommend here first for Italian while in the area read more

Was looking for a sit down restaurant for a larger party with good food and certainly found that in Delmonico's! A last minute find, stumbling across it was simply divine! Came here on a busy weekend and was seated immediately, surprisingly with no wait. The vibe in the restaurant is definitely giving home style with odes to well known folks on the walls. We sat on the interior patio which had great sunlight. Our waitress was super sweet (maybe Courtney?!?) and was really attentive. The food was outstanding! We had the calamari which was delicious and I had the portabella mushroom parmigiana with a side of angel hair pasta to make it a complete dish. The mushrooms - you get two - were nice and thick, fried to perfection and just the right amount of cheesy. Top it off with some parmesan cheese and you'll be in heaven! They took a credit card for the reservation and texted me a confirmation the day before . I drove 5 hours to Syracuse. We showed up at 7:10 PM. It was crowded... and we were told we didn't have a reservation. We had what they called 'priority seating' and wouldn't be seated for a half an hour to 45 minutes... at best. RIDICULOUS!!! Telling time...managing reservations and extending courtesy to customers ... are not arbitrary skills. in a moment of serendipity... I fortuitously canceled the reservation after waiting 15 minutes... and was able to get a table immediately at a Scotch N Sirloin... five minutes away...where we had a fantastic meal. The 16 ounce ribeye... was better then the ribeye that I had the previous night at what is considered the best STEAK HOUSE in New York City right now. AND... it was half the price. Had nothing but great service the many times I have come here and great food too. I love the dim lighting and caricature decor along with chandeliers. One of my favorite's is the Delmonico's alfredo because it has a little bit of marinara and a nice accompaniment of veggies. Whether it is just me and a friend or a large party I have always had amazing service and food experiences here. Our group of 5 dined at Delmonico's for the first time during labor day weekend, we were visiting from out of town and all love Italian-American style food. I found this place thanks to many highly rated reviews on Google and the menu and food was just what I was hoping for. We tried making a reservation online but the system only allows for a group of 4 or less - we weren't sure how busy this place would be on a Saturday so we called ahead and were able to get a table quickly once we arrived. The restaurant was packed, it was definifely had a classic old school bar/steakhouse vibes. Most patrons were middle aged. The restaurant walls are full of pictures, artifacts and caricatures, references from the Godfather and other popular Italian celebrities. There is a plush red carpeting throughout, chandeliers and heavy wooden tables that give the place a comfy and classic style - however the look is a bit dated, and it can feel quite stuffy and very loud. When we dined, there were at least 4 birthday celebrations during the hour so this is a hot spot for gatherings and special occasions. Our group tried the classic Delmonico 24 oz steak, alfredo pasta with chicken, another with steak, filet medallions, salmon and risotto, meatballs... everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. There is complimentary bread and garlic herb butter served before your meal, coupled with the hearty portions, everyone left feeling satisfied and full. The main meals are priced well for the portion, I felt like I was getting really good quality for value, however it irked me a bit how there is an extra charge for everything and our server did try to upsell us. For example, there is no salad or soup included with the meal but we were always asked if we wanted some. The large steak is by default served with marinara pasta as a side, however there is an extra charge to swap it out for mashed potatoes or something else. Potatoes are usually never considered a higher value item anywhere else! Addons can rack up quickly so expect to pay between $30 to $50 a person or more depending on what you get. Food was amazing so in the end it's all worth it, if you love pastas or steak, it'll be a good fit. I would come back. read more

Had a really nice experience with an easily made reservation through Open Table and a wonderful service. The staff were kind and welcoming and our waiter was wonderful. He greeted us with great energy and had answers for all of our questions, especially me as a first timer. The vibe of the place is Old New York, Diet Mafia and Sopranos the comedy. And it's simply fun. Most importantly the food, it was wonderful! The complementary bread and butter, very nice. Caesar salad, solid. The Delmonico, delicious! Filet Mignon, delicious! The cooks on each of them were truly perfect as well. The Delmonico was medium rare, Filet was medium and they were the most accurate cooks I may have ever seen in a restaurant. Nailed it! There was a small side of pasta with the Delmonico and that was incredible, I'm going all in on some pasta next time. We got 2 desserts, both very enjoyable but the Italian Cheesecake with Raspberry sauce took the day, highly recommend if you enjoy a smooth cheesecake and raspberry flavoring. Stopped in on a Monday night due to Vito's being closed that day now (a disappointment since we had out of town guests who had loved it on a Monday evening last fall). Anyway, they were impressed with the food at Delmonico's, and I am happy to say that their salmon & risotto specials are always out of this world. I would share that Monday is a much better day to get faster service than on a Wednesday. There have been times when we have waited to 1) be seated, 2) our server taking our drink and app orders and 3) our server taking our mains orders and 4) actually getting the food. We all got pasta dishes my husband didn't enjoy the meatballs no flavor & the sauce not great . Head on over to this time capsule from 1978 for some reasonably priced, slightly "upscale" basic meat and potatoes fare. Big portions and big caricatures seem to be the theme. My son was pretty impressed by the sliced sirloin steak. The mashed potatoes were very garlicky, and everything was smothered in the Cabernet mushroom sauce. We also had a few specials on the night, including chicken parmigiana over angel hair pasta. The chicken was tender and the portion was plentiful, but it was nothing memorable - good, albeit basic, chicken parm. I had the steak and bake, which was a slightly smaller version of their NY strip sirloin with a baked potato. The steak was cooked to my liking (medium rare) and the "loaded" baked potato was served with bacon, butter and sour cream. Some chives or scallion would have been nice, but overall, this was a pretty good value. Note: the peppers, mushrooms and onions are a great complement to the steaks, but be aware these are not sweet or bell peppers...these are spicy vinegary suckers!
