Death sucks! No matter though. You know its coming and sadly i had to go to a funeral for my friends son. It was a beautiful funeral but they werent playing about the time. Youd think at a time like this that wouldnt be an issue and you'd be more understanding. Since death waits for noone, things had to be rushed along because the next customer who wants going anywhere had to come in. Anyway the funeral was beautiful. An overflowed house. It sucks to see anyone younger than you go. Nice place. The grounds are well kept. If i was planning on being buried id consider this place. read more

The ground seemed to be kept a little better than before. So that's good thing. The paving on the roads has improved since the expansion on the back section has begun by the new mausoleum. Thank you so much Forest Lawn for cleaning our parents grave today before my sister and I came to visit for our Mom's Birthday. I called them a few hours before we decided to visit our parents today to see if they could clean it so we could put flowers there for them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. We bought flowers at their flower shop and usually the flowers are so beautiful and full of life and full. This time they were not full and a lot of them were wilting. The nice guy replaced the sunflower for us thank you so much. I wish I got his name so sorry but I do remember him from other times we have come here. I hope next time the flowers are full of life again like they usually are. It's been a little while since we have been able to come here. Miss you so much Mom, Happy Birthday I love you forever and always. I miss our long texts till 3am, I miss being able to talk to you about anything and everything, you understood me more than anyone in the world, but I know you still hear me in heaven. I hope you're resting in peace with the angels and all the loved ones everyone has lost along the way. Dad I sometimes still get upset at you for the way you treated me and only me, you were never there for me like a father should be for his youngest daughter. My immediate beloved family members have had their mortuary, and interment here at Forest Lawn Cypress in the past. I was there two weeks ago to assist close family in making funeral arrangements for our loved one and everyone at Forest Lawn Cypress was wonderful , and kind in a time that is so difficult especially when losing a loved one. They guide you through the process, and give you options. I'm really bad with names, but from the woman on the phone that set up the appt and initial appointment to the funeral coordinator Gabriel ? ( Hispanic gentleman) to the person assisting at the day of the funeral and internment everyone was so kind, knowledgeable, patient and empathetic. We were "helped" by a woman named Fabiola who had one of the worst attitudes we've ever encountered. We were asking simple questions regarding assistance for my mother-in-law's funeral and she acted like we were bothering her. She couldn't provide us any information, couldn't get us help from anyone else, and kept dumping us on hold for no reason. This was ridiculous and completely unacceptable, especially while we're grieving and trying to get basic support. The lack of empathy, professionalism, and basic customer service was shocking. No family going through something this difficult should have to deal with that kind of treatment. I would not recommend dealing with this place at all. read more

If my count is right, this is run #4. And every single one of them was gloomy. It just meant another heartbreaking loss. But gotta give them credit for doing their job well. I don't remember seeing or experiencing anything negative. It was always smooth and organized. They knew how and where to direct people as swiftly and as easy as possible without having to feel rushed. They've always been respectful about grieving friends and family. It's not a place I prefer to find myself in, but I gotta credit the staff for making it a teenee bit easier when it comes to dealing with losing someone. This place is clean at times. I go there every Saturday to visit my dad. I've had to take repellant for ants before. Sometimes all over the floor along the wall where him and other angels are at. Today it really broke my heart. There was so many ants all over the floor against wall and around my dad's spot. It wasn't a very good feeling getting there and seen that. I showed a video to info booth. There very quick to come as I'm relaxing next to dad, and pressure me to buy a spot. I hope they fix that problem that quick to. read more

The mother of one of our very dear friends passed away suddenly and unexpectedly this week and her funeral was held here. Their buildings are very stately and the grounds and plots towards the entrance are verdant and well maintained. Our friend and his family are Muslim and I appreciate that Forest Lawn has a section of their grounds dedicated to the cultural needs of traditional Muslim burials (i.e. specialized caskets that have a bottom that allows the deceased to come in contact with the earth). However, it's tucked away in the furthest back corner with no signs or markers to show the way. We wouldn't have found it if it wasn't for bumping into one of our friends. And they aren't maintaining this back area very well at all - definitely not like the front grounds. The ground is absolutely parched and has sparse green patches of grass with lots of bare dirt holes. And you can tell which are all the recent burials bc the special "grass sod" they place on top of the replaced soil is a large rectangle of dead, brownish yellow straw now - so they're clearly not caring for the graves once they're buried. FL only provided one small tent awning and very few chairs in the blaring midday sun. And while I understand her passing was very sudden, the staff rushed the funeral!! While the family were giving their goodbye speeches, two tractors and two work carts showed up loudly running their engines and staff approached the family - pressuring them to hurry. One of the work carts was loaded with extra chairs - so they definitely could've provided us with more seating at least. To their credit though, the staff undertaking the sensitive task of the actual burial were very patient, careful, and considerate with that part of the process. Funerals are upsetting enough as it is without staff breathing down your neck rushing you through it all. I'm giving three stars bc the family seemed satisfied and were not upset at the service or staff. My understanding is that it's quite expensive to be placed here so I can't say I'd recommend it. read more

Just got my "property" in the Heritage Gardens section right in front of the Patriot's Chapel. It's a beautiful area and will make it easy for my family members to find my marker. The other side of the chapel at the entrance also has nice restrooms, so having them close by will also make convenient for anyone who visits a loved one in this section. It was a little pricey since they just increased their rates last week. But, compared to some other cemeteries, it will be worth's it since they maintain their grounds. read more

I had heard about cemeteries ripping off grieving customers, but I never thought I would fall for something like that. My wife's father was dead unexpectedly, of Covid, and we had to move the body. We selected Forest Lawn in Cypress basically because it was near where my father-in-law had lived. We bought two adjoining plots for both of my wife's parents. The cost was about $40,000 for both, which we paid in cash. As part of the "Harmony Package," which included a long list of things, we were expecting matching headstones. Later, we found out that the salesman had slipped in a "free" military headstone for my father-in-law instead of the one we thought we were getting, probably to make it look like he was lowering costs. We only found out about this obnoxious salesman move after my mother-in-law's death. Forest Lawn is now trying to get more payment out of us for matching headstones. read more

From a photographer/vendor prospective this location is beautiful and the staff are super friendly and tentative. The location is very clean and kept nicely. Polished floors, no chips in the paint or stains on the carpet. Definitely I lovely place for any loved one! Photographically this place offers tons of beauty and the chapel was very good ambient light. The viewing room is tricky, there is a tungsten light source with loads of blue light ambient light fill from the windows. If possible I suggest gelling an OCF. Otherwise crop tight in your frame. read more

They did not use the lipstick we gave them. Did a terrible job on my loved ones hair. We said we wanted belongings back clothes make up etc... it is in the paperwork to give back. These dipsticks supposedly buried it with my loved one. Probably lost it since it was not the right lipstick used. Then before they closed her up, I wanted her favorite pocketbook in with her and they said Oh we do that at the grave site. They're ready to put her in the ground and the pocket book is still sitting there so they had to open her up again. Of course wouldn't allow a photo so I missed out on that too. The grass is way too wet their excuse is Not too many people go over there anymore to that area. What are you gonna do to get me my lipstick and nail polish back? It seems a bit weird to me to write this review, but it's been sitting in my drafts for a few months now, and I want to get it done. My father passed away last August and was laid to rest at this location in September. I grew up in the neighboring city of Cerritos along with my father's side of the family: most of his siblings and their children also settled in Cerritos. So, over the years, my grandmother, three aunts, an uncle, and a cousin were laid to rest at Forest Lawn before my father joined them. Because so many relatives are here, we've attended more than one funeral here. When it came to dealing with my own father's cremation and celebration of life ceremony, the staff was always communicative and compassionate. They helped facilitate organizing the services, making an emotional event less stressful. I didn't have to deal with the costs since this was something that my parents had thankfully already taken care of a long time ago (they were proactive like that). The grounds are maintained very well, and I like the flower room that is available for visitors. There, you have gardening shears as well as a sink at your disposal if you come bearing flowers to place on your loved one's resting spot. I'm happy to know that we can continue to visit our family in such a peaceful setting. read more

We buried our son Saturday. We spent $1400 on flowers purchased at the funeral home. We visited the cemetery on Tuesday and not one flower was left on his grave. We were told they pick them up in 3 days. There were dead flowers all over the cemetery. We were told people could fall over the large ones. I think they resell them. I worked with Diego and it was the worst experience. He was forgetful and did not provide accurate information. He met with me and a good portion of my family. Then we had a disgruntled family member make changes and he proceeded to make them without verifying. Highly unprofessional and took a long time to get back to me. No. No. No. N. O. This place used to be great but it's been so incredibly horrible to us! The customer service is whack. The communication is whack. If I didn't have 3 generations of family members already buried here then I would never want to be buried here myself to avoid the annoyance and issues that my family would eventually experience. We had buried 2 members of our family this year and there was an extremely noticeable difference with how each member's services were treated. My cousin was buried and my grandma just about two months after. During my cousins services we were not offered the same add ons like my grandma's. We didn't get to play a slideshow during the funeral mass for my cousin but for my grandma's they OFFERED to make one for us. What is this? BOGO? Bury one and if you bury another we'll actually try to make it memorable??? LIKE???? And on top of that they spelled my grandmother's name WRONG. And kept it on the projector for more than half of the duration of the mass. When my aunt pointed it out to them they just changed the screen to a picture of blurry candles. And they are DEFINITELY selective of who gets to keep what floral arrangements/decors on graves. My cousin's flowers were on her plot for a good while but my grandmother's flowers were GONE before the week even ended. Reading the other reviews only infuriated me more. Also, they let people DRINK BEER in the front of the building. Security came by and talked to them but he didn't even do anything like have them toss it out because the people were still there tossing it back like it was a backyard party. Absolutely shocking and appalling. Please find somewhere else to have services for your loved one. The people here do not care and take advantage of those in mourning. read more

My sister and brother-in-law passed in an auto-accident, and we chose to have them interred at Forest Lawn Cypress because that's where BIL's father was laid to rest, and it's close to the homes of both families. Carlos Velasquez was our memorial counselor and he was so kind and sympathetic. He advised us very well--including giving us a heads-up that we had the option of engaging mortuary services elsewhere and that it would likely be more affordable to go that route. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. From what I saw, none of the graves are too far away from the roads, so even elderly relatives can get to the graves on foot. They have reasonable criteria for grave decorations so that families can personalize their loves ones' resting places without being a distraction to other mourners. I had a very positive experience with Forest Lawn Cypress and would whole-heartedly recommend them. read more

It's difficult to write a review for a cemetery when you're in the middle of grieving the loss of a loved one. While my family and I didn't really shop around since we wanted my late brother to be near family, Forest Lawn in Cypress would definitely have been a consideration regardless. This cemetery doesn't have a macabre or morbid vibe at all. The staff are all very well trained, compassionate, and patient. Our planning coordinator's name was Kathi and she was amazing. She's been with the company for over 30 years and was incredibly accommodating and patient with us. There's a lot to be said about the cost of funerals these days, especially if you're planning on a traditional burial. While Forest Lawn's prices seemed comparable to other mortuaries, the cost is still shocking and it's important that people understand before going into a mortuary what they can expect. A basic direct cremation can be around $2,000 and an elaborate burial can be $30,000 or more. It's even more reason to consider making your final arrangements when you're younger and healthier so that you can pay over time. Luckily for our family, there was an abundance of generosity and we managed to have a burial for my brother at pretty much no cost to us. I recently visited the cemetery to attend the Memorial Day commemoration and it was very respectful, patriotic, and well organized. I didn't realize how many decedents at the cemetery were of a military background, and it's nice to see the cemetery honoring them. Apparently it's been a tradition at that cemetery for over 50 years. But they had live music, doves, and a gun salute. It was really impressive. They also have a dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event in the fall. read more

Forest Lawn Cypress needs to do a much better job of maintaining the grave markers on their property. When you purchase property at a cemetery you pay into a fund that maintains the grave. Below are two examples where the name of the deceased is partially covered up by grass. In addition, they need to paint numbers on the curbs that correspond to many of grave numbers in various sections to make finding a grave easier. Finally, to help locate a grave there are small round cement blocks that show coordinates that correspond with various areas. The vast majority of these plot markers have been almost entirely covered by grass so is extremely difficult to find the final resting place of a loved one. Forest Lawn Cypress is considered to be a high-quality Memorial Park. They really need to step up their game to maintain that high level of professionalism. read more

My Grandma was buried at Forest Lawn Cypress in April 2021 and since then we've filed 4 previous complaints due to theft from the flowers/roses left at her plaque. So far within those 4 complaints, we've only received 1 remedy which was a $50 gift card, hsable only at their flower store which was enough to cover 1 pot of flower due to the high price. We've spoken with several people regarding this issue and even spoke with the maintenance manager Arvin to see if any actions can be taken to further prevent this from happening. He advised us to send him photos via email to show proof of the incident. It has been almost 3 months and still no answer from anyone at Forest Lawn including their own maintenance manager. I'm forced to purchase cheap flowers to leave at my Grandma's site because not only do I not trust leaving flowers there anymore to be stolen again but also the lack of effort (or any in this case) from the staff. I am writing this review due to a 5th incident that occurred sometime last week as we visit weekly. As clearly shown, there are clear scratches on my grandmother's plaque. When we arrived at the site today, one of the flowers was also knocked over in which I suspected this was caused my maintenance. This incident caused the tipping point as it clearly shows the lack of empathy and care from their maintenance team. There is no possible way these scratches occurred due to natural causes and can only be caused my a machine (or Lawn mower). It's honestly appalling that in a span of 16 months, we've had to witness and experience all these incidents that happened with my Grandmothers plaque and I can't even imagine what other mistakes will be made in the next year. If there's one thing I regret, is choosing this company and location as a site for my Grandma to be laid because I'll always have to worry for the rest of my life for future potential theft or damages.
