This is a small location in a shopping center off north. The staff and friendly and attentive. They make suggestions based on your preferences and popularity. Typically clean when I come. They offer 30 minute parking in their lot. Pay attention to your time while I was there in two different times I noticed they towed someone's car. They are reasonably priced and pretty healthy. I've been a huge fan ever since I found this place in a sketchy food court off Clark & Lake. The food court has since closed and I am so happy to have found they have branched out. The chicken shawarma plate with hummas, mediterranean salad and couscous is my yum and so delicious! They aren't cheap with the ingredients so I always feel that I get my moneys worth. The nice thing is you can either get a pre-made pita sandwich if you already know what you like. Or you can make a plate which allows you to pick your protein and sides. This is a great option for people who aren't sure what they might like so they can try a few things to find out. They also have this really cool water dispenser which lets you choose flat or fizzy. I had a steak kabob pita the first time I went here and it was honestly phenomenal! The second time I had the chicken shawarma plate with baba ghanouj, Mediterranean salad and couscous-- so delicious! Everything is so fresh and unique in flavor and options! Very healthy too! Actually a HUGE fan of this place. According to one of their employees they cook almost exclusively with olive oil, salt & pep - meaning its pretty healthy. OMG Chicken Shawarma Plate has become a staple of my Whole30, just skip the pita and yum. One time I went the gal behind the counter was super rude, but the next time the guy (newer guy, said he had only been there a week or two) was SO NICE it totally made up for it. He took extreme care building the plate, and obviously took pride in his work. For the record, this place is super fast-foody. like, nicer than a subway but similar style, and fairly small inside. 5 stars for convenience and yum factor, but don't come here expecting table service or anything too fancy. I typically walk over for a protein plate after my workout at the health club; and, sometimes pick up a full dinner to bring home. The food is typically quite flavorful; service is quick and everyone is friendly. The falafel has really improved. A few months ago this would have received 4 stars from me. However, it only gets 3 stars to keep this place on its toes. I've noticed that the couscous, rice, hummus, and salad portions have grown smaller - almost by 1/3 to 1/2. The Mediterranean Chicken has been coming out significantly more dry. Just something to pay attention to, but I'll continue to dine here unless it continues to decline. read more

OMG, what a disappointment. I ordered catering from them about a year ago and everything was delicious, I wish I could say the same about this experience. I'm not certain if they changed owners, cooks or both; but it is a complete 180 turn around in quality. I ordered the "OMG Premium" catering package from the North Ave. location for a meeting at work and the delivery showed up on time, but my order was not complete once I got it upstairs to set everything up. I called to let them know that they had neglected to deliver my hummus and pita bread and the manager was less than appropriately apologetic - stating only that "they had given everything to the delivery driver." Once I asserted again that regardless of what they gave him I was missing a portion of my order, she said they would send someone back out. After the fact, I realized we were also missing the tahini, jalapeno hot sauce and garlic sauce; but at that point it was already too late for it to matter. Delivery disasters aside, the food just wasn't very good. The shawarma tasted like plain grilled chicken, no spices or flavors that I would typically associate with (good) shawarma. The falafel was somehow simultaneously dry and soggy - not to mention that they had large, hard chunks of uncooked chickpea in them (and carrots for some unbeknownst reason). The best thing about the food was the hummus, which we almost didn't even get. Needless to say, I'll be going elsewhere for catering in the future. read more

Yes this is fast food. So food snobs look away now. But this place delivers exactly what it aims to deliver. Fast, cheap, healthy and delicious food. It is the only quick place you can drop in really in the area, so if you are looking for a place to restore your energy after your arms are heavy from carrying so many bags of shopping from the North Ave shops, this is by far the best place to rehydrate and get some food in your belly. Been here many times... evey time I've had the OMG plate where you choose from a selection. I have not strayed from the first plate I had because it was so good so I get it every time. I've been here several times and I have to say I was only impressed the first time. Their food is consistent in taste which definitely is a plus but their customer service and portions are always a toss up. The first time I went the awesome chick who helped me talked me through the stuff and gave me a decent amount of food. It wasn't spilling over the to go container or anything but it was a great amount. A separate time I swear that guy was getting paid in leftover food because the servings were so scarce that I could clearly see the bottom of my to go container as clear as day. One of my biggest pet peeves is the inconstancy. One person will tell me that it is ok to choose two different meats on the plate, another one will say no, and then my stingy friend will allow it and give me like two pieces of meat making me regret upsetting him for asking for 2 meats. The worst thing of all is that I have been there a couple times and they always seem to forget my pita bread. I always order items that clearly say that pita is included but I don't always get it. I'm going to start scoping the place for the nice workers who aren't trying to withhold the pita and only go in when they are there. read more

YUM! In my humble opinion, this is the best fast food in the city! They have several different types of meat and they are all delicious. I recommend trying every one. The salads and spreads are fresh and have an authentic middle eastern flavor. Add in excellent service (Irfan and the rest of the staff go above and beyond) and a trendy up-beat setting and you have a recipe for success! I've seen some people complain that the parking lot is difficult to navigate, but these presumably suburbanites need to chill and be thankful to have a place to park. It's fine, not OMG good, but fine... see what I did there? The best thing about OMG is that I can call it OMG. I stopped in here to pick up lunch one afternoon. I went with the OMG plate. The staff was friendly and patient, and explained the different types of salads when I asked about them. The food was alright. I feel like a jerk for comparing them to Roti, but I think the quality of Roti's food is a bit better and definitely more flavorful. Hummus here was pretty basic as was the pita bread. Truth be told, my heart as far as falafel goes resides in Iowa City. Oasis has been my favorite falafel since at least 2009. But Olive is damn close. I love the super green interior of the falafel here. The herbs really speak through, and you too infrequently get that at falafel places. The exterior has a great crunch, but not too much. The bread is fluffy, the hummus is great, and really, I can't think of a bad thing to say about Olive (even the prices are fair and the portions ample). The baklava was great, too! But five stars is supposed to label what, to me, is "as good as it gets." Olive is terrific and very worth your stopping in (there's even a Loop location). But my true favorite is elsewhere. Olive, however, you have been the most worthy contender in a pool of over a dozen others that failed to compare to Oasis. Olive is one of those places that I would drive by and wonder about. I finally stopped in a couple weeks ago and I am glad I did. The menu is small, but all the standards are there. You can get sandwiches, a variety of small plates, or build your own large plate, which is what I went for. I chose hummus (delicious, with the right amount of tahini and spice), Mediterranean salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions in lemon juice), rice and falafel (very, very good falafel. Theirs probably my second favorite ever). I have been back a couple times since and tried the steak shawarma, which is tasty and the baba ghanouj, which is smoky and delightful. The pita bread is slightly puffy and chewy, which is my favorite kind. Olive is a small place, but so far, I haven't had trouble getting to sit and eat. I like seeing that it gets busy and people seem to enjoy it. There is a parking lot, which is an extra bonus as far as I'm concerned. And the prices are fairly reasonable. I would definitely recommend Olive. It's on my regular rotation now for sure. read more

A group of about five of us ventured out to try something new in honor of a friend's birthday, and the place we went to was Olive Mediterranean Grill. I'm not usually comfortable in new food places - I like having a regular thing to get and knowing that I enjoy it, but I also want to expand my palate and be able to recommend dining places for people. Anyway, we got there, figured out what we wanted, and paid. It wasn't overpriced, the ambiance was pretty chill and laid back, and then came the food... I'm not saying it was bad, but I'm also not saying it was the best thing I've ever eaten. I enjoyed it, and it filled me up, and I felt like I got my money's worth for it. I just wished there was a little bit more flavor in it, I had the Falafel sandwich, and it just seemed kind of...plain. I found myself wishing there was salsa or something that I could excite my taste buds with. I've passed it lots of times, if only I had stopped in before my last day in town... As others have said, it's like a Chipotle for Mediterranean food (kind of like Roti but with fewer choices). I got a plate with tabbouli and chickpea salad, hummus and pita, and half falafel and half chicken kabob. Yes, they let you get half of one protein and half of another! Perfect for the indecisive like me. For about $8 bucks, I got a filling and super delicious plate of food. The falafel were hot and crispy, and the chicken was juicy and really quite spicy! Like truly lip-tingling. Though they did have a spicy symbol next to the option on the menu, I didn't really take it that seriously. It's totally great if you like spicy food but if you don't, it'll be too much for you. The salads and hummus were good too, but the proteins were the star for sure. I can still taste that falafel and wish I had more! Great place for a healthy, fresh lunch if you're in the neighborhood. And they have a parking lot! read more
