This was a nice place for the QCA. While not the best Mediterranean food I have ever had, it was quite good and tasty. We had the traditional gyro with added feta, chicken kabobs, and rolled grape leaves for an appetizer. As I said, the food was tasty and I loved my sandwich. I tried some of the chicken, and it was her savory and moist. As some of the previous reviews said, there was some delay on the service. There were 3 teens working there today, and we were the only people in the place. It was a long break between the grape leaves, and the main dish. We were probably sitting there for 30 mins between the two. During this time, we could hear the girls both loudly berating some poor coworker who wasn't present. We went to this restaurant for our daughter's birthday last night. It was not our first trip, so we knew what we wanted to order and also knew that they prepare each meal as it is ordered and is not considered "fast food" at all. Our meal was fresh, healthy and delicious. Side bar: There was a woman blocking us from ordering because she was ranting about how long it was taking the staff to prepare her "to go" order. She was loud and extremely vicious toward the young woman running the register and taking the orders. I wish we had said something. read more

Hippie food that's fun for everyone. Seriously good hummus, tasty falafel, one of the best salads in the Quad Cities, and a solid gyro. (I actually prefer the gyro wrap to the pita, but your mileage may vary). This is convenient to our house and we love that it is so close because everything we've tried has been good. read more

I've had two negative experiences here. The first time I walked in, I was so turned off by the staff attitude that I walked back out the door. After a few months, I decided to give it another try. Went around 1:30pm, and there was a decent crowd (maybe 6 different groups and a small line for orders). I knew there would be a wait, but was surprised it took about an hour to get 2 different entrees. The food was decent, but not worth their high prices. The panini I ordered had some good, fresh veggies on it, but the seasoning was toned down for the bland QC palette and disappointing. I had high hopes, because the menu has a lot of nice options I would like to try... As others have mentioned, the wait staff could't care less about you - everyone seems miserable there and sometimes confused. I couldn't tell if there was a manager on staff at the time or not, but these girls needed some direction to be a little more efficient. Also, they dress in yoga pants and Victoria's Secret T-shirts... not exactly a professional dress for a restaurant. I don't want to be served food by someone in their pajamas (especially if I am paying over $20 for two entrees with water). I might give it another try in a few months. read more

i gave the Olive Tree Cafe a try this afternoon with two others. while I don't think any of us were blown away, we all very much enjoyed our meal and agreed we'd all go back to try different things. atmosphere: a great lunch destination. very simple, yet artfully decorated. extremely clean... dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms, the whole place. yes, it's in a strip mall and it has that strip mall cafe feeling going on, but the art, decor, music, and cleanliness make up for the bland boxy almost fast food feel. service: it's counter service, you order then the food and then it is brought to your table... so there wasn't a whole lot of actual "service" but the staff were very friendly, the owner greeted everyone that came in; he also made rounds to the tables and talked to the customers. he was very polite and sincere. the food: our group ordered a variety of things off the menu. the gyros were pretty standard, but the meat they use is very good. the panini was enjoyed. the ingredients were fresh and the the combination of ingredients were well balanced. i mean, it's a panini, not rocket science, but they are done well at the Olive Tree cafe. i ordered the spanakopita and thought it was really good. it was light, fluffy, and crispy. the flavor of the spinach filling was incredible. if the flavor and texture is repeated and consistent, i would order it every time i eat at Olive Tree Cafe. we also ordered the baba ghanouj which was ok. it was a little bland for my tastes, i'd have liked it to have a little more spice/flavor. if you are like me and avoid eating at chains and franchises, this is an excellent place to go for lunch. it is very reasonably priced and very comfortable. i'll definitely be back to try more items off the menu... and eat more of the spanakopita. read more

OK a bit of a rant here.... I am a huge customer service patron. But it does not take much to please me. Just a smile and an acknowledgement that they appreciate my business. At 12:30 on Saturday afternoon Nov 10 2012 there were four "kids" running this restaurant. I had always wanted to try this place but had heard the food was OK. I am pleased to report the food was good. The Gyro platter was really nice and came with an unexpected salad - fresh and crisp. A bit pricey at $11, but nonetheless good. The paella tasted really nice but the 1/2 inch of lukewarm juice in the bottom left a bit to be desired. Clear it was poorly prepared. But, again, the flavor was really nice. Also had the baba ganoush, hummus and dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) which were all excellent. We know our Mediterranean food. Now to my rant....Not once did any of the four employees acknowledge us. Never said "hello". Never asked if we had been there before. They were engaged in writing something on a piece of paper and never looked up to greet us at the counter and register. The person at the register taking our order stared at us - not saying a word - until we made up our mind what we wanted (yes, it was clear we had never been there before) and totaled the order - when, yes, the first words from her was how much we had to pay. Another girl came from the kitchen and had the same lack of engagement. We had no clue how the process of ordering worked at this place, where to get our cups for a drink of even silverware... They never said a word - never engaged. We did not know that a salad came with the meal... The person that brought the meal to the table again - no eye contact, no "hello..." nothing.... Just sat the plates down and left. To the management of this place - we will not be back. We will tell our friends... You either need to train these young kids that they need to treat this business as a business - their own business - or you should fire them all... read more

Very good for lunch or snacks. Fresh ingredients. Panini sandwiches make for a tasty alternative to subs and the like.

I absolutely loved this place! Went here on a whim over lunch one day, and got the Gyro Wrap - rice, kalamata olives, greens, tzatziki, tomatoes, onions, and lamb - and a side of spanakopita. The kopita was fresh and hot, and so tasty! The gyro wrap was filling, and the ingredients were fresh, not a single wilted green. My only complaint - and a very minor one - was that on this particular day, my coworker and I had to be back at the office quickly, and it took a little while (around 15 - 20 minutes) to get the food out. However, I think it was because they were having a rush and they make everything fresh to order. Definitely worth a trip across the bridge! read more

I LOVE the food at Olive Tree Cafe; however, that is the only thing I love about eating here. The restaurant atmosphere is fairly bland and the wait staff is below average. There are always personal side conversations happening between different employees and an attitude that makes you want to take your order to-go. While the employees don't make the trip particularly enjoyable, I think the food makes up for it. I always get one of the many different Mediterranean bowls and have never had something there I didn't like. I would absolutely recommend the food, but would also recommend calling ahead and placing your order to-go. read more

Heard about this place for a while and was surprised it's been here for 6 yrs! Been to the Bettendorf and Davenport location. The Mediterranean veggie pita came with yummy flafel and Mediterranean salad with tahini sauce plopped on top. Fries are incredible. Classic hummus and roasted red pepper hummus and pita very tasty. Don't go here for lunch unless you have unlimited lunch time. If you do go, I enjoy the veggie platter. Hate to give a local place a bad review, but here we go: We visited 7/2/15 for lunch and placed an order for a panini and fish dish. The woman who took our order did not indicate there would be a long wait. At least 35 minutes later we asked about our order status. She told us they had not yet started making it and offered no explanation or even a polite apology. When we asked for a refund as we had to return to work she cluelessly asked, "You can't wait a little longer?" We told her we could not, and she did refund our money, but we will not return for lunch. From other reviews it seems our wait and the indifferent staff person was not an isolated event. I can understand the kitchen gets busy at this popular restaurant, but they must know the noon hour is their busiest and should schedule staff accordingly. An update on delayed orders would also go a long way in either placating customers or helping them to determine if they cannot wait that long. Our office orders from the Olive Tree Cafe 5-6 times per month. As another reviewer commented, errors in our order happen regularly. We have tolerated this because their menu has options for everyone, but after this experience we will likely take our business elsewhere. read more

My food was pretty good, the people working were nice. Unfortunately, for 3 people we had to wait at least 45 minutes and they weren't very busy. When I went to get my drink I got Fanta, it was only the syrup so I had to dump it out, then I got sprite and it was just carbonated water. The coke was ok though but I still think it tasted a little off. I'm not sure that the food was good enough to warrant the wait and the drinks. read more

I don't think we've ever had bad food from here, the appetizers are always good (always get hummus or baba ganouj), and we usually get the chicken tagine or a panini sandwich. Service can be a little slow at times, and it's a small dining room, so don't expect to grab a quick lunch, especially if it's busy. This place is one of our semi-regular dining stops. read more

We just had a poor experience at Olive Tree Cafe. We ordered a chicken pesto panini. When we got the panini it had some type of orange creamy sauce on it. When we asked they said they were out of pesto so they used a different sauce. Maybe should have told us that when ordering?! They didn't offer to replace or allow us to order something different. I love trying new restaurants but this is the ONLY one I have a craving to go back to from time to time. I've tried probably 1/4 of the menu options and NEVER been disappointed. If anything, it makes it harder to choose each time because I'd love to try new items but always enjoy old favorites. The owner is the epitome of what customer service is all about. Yummy!! I'm not really a big fan of Gyros but this place is awesome!! I've been there twice and had the chicken Gyro both times. The second one was just a good as the first!!! Just had my first time visit to the Olive Tree Cafe and I will most certainly head back there to try some other things. I ordered the dolmas (grapeleaves) and the chicken kebab wrap. The wait time for the order was a "little" long...but I will always take that as I could see them prepping the food in the back from scratch. I will ALWAYS sacrifice fast service for high quality. The grapleaves were good...wish they were packed a little more and tighter, but good clean taste with the olive oil and lemon. The chicken kebab wrap hit the spot. They definitely have something good in this place. read more

Some of the reviews said the service would be slow, but I didn't know that the service would take 40 minutes for just 8-9 entrees to come out. We still were there 80 minutes after ordering, and all of our food had still not come out yet. At 75 minutes, they told us they were out of alfredo sauce, why it took 75 minutes to finally know this, is beyond me. The food was not worth the wait either. I never did get my fries either. Even if I went here by myself, I still wouldn't risk waiting 20-30 minutes for food that I could get somewhere else in less than half the time. I'm not quite sure how they in business as while we were waiting a gentleman asked for a refund, because he had been waiting 40 minutes, and another gentleman, after waiting 30 minutes for his food, had to wait another 10 minutes for them to make his smoothie. It looked like there were 4 workers working, but only 2 up front and 2 in the kitchen. Poor business model to not have the 2 up front know how to help the kitchen in the back if they are behind. I would believe there are some small things they could have done to speed up the process, or to ensure all the food was being made. I definitely would not recommend this place, especially if you walk in and see 3 or more people waiting for their food. read more

My wife and I just returned from the Olive Tree Cafe and enjoyed our meals very much! In fact she said this restaurant was 2nd only to Azteca!! And she absolutely has always loved Azteca!! This place was exactly what we were looking for. All the food was fresh and delicious and the service was excellent. We got there at about 3:00 on Saturday afternoon and the manager took our order. There were 6 of us--4 adults and two kids and we all had our orders within 15 minutes--the appetizer came out even faster. They even had mac and cheese for my picky kids (NOT easy mac, by the way) and were thoughtful enough to bring the kids' food out first. I loved my falafel hummus wrap and everyone else raved about their food as well. The desserts were also amazing. I accidentally ordered the wrong thing for my husband and the manager insisted on bringing out the order my husband had intended, free of charge--even though it was my mistake. We would definitely come here again and would recommend to others. read more
