Love this place will definitely be coming back! Let me start off with the great parts, the oxtails will have you ready to tear up if you are missing that little bit of home feeling especially if you from the country, the red snapper is great no fishy taste at all was made perfect and fresh! The potato salad was great! Especially if you love that deviled egg kinda feel , as for the Mac and cheese it's cool kinda basic I've had worse but I've also had better the loving seems to be going mainly into the main dishes, it still has that homey feeling just needs some pepper or something, the greens were cool as well they were greens kinda missing that meaty flavor but that's probably because they want to be inclusive to other types of people that don't eat meat ,still good tho I respect it and would order again, the hush puppies were good gave kinda a cornbread feel if you're looking for that fish taste in there I'd get something else tho I don't really care for that taste to much so it was perfect for me, the prawns were pretty standard I mean it's fried shrimp what do you expect? Hello; I've lost any hope of this restaurant having any regards for their customers. I stopped by today (friday 9-11) after online info listed ooen 2:30-9pm. No answer when I called, voice mail declared they had these hours. Message box full. I was in the area so went to the place; lighted red sign says open with the hours in the window. Requires mask to come in and order. I was there shortly before 5pm; no one inside, no lights on inside. They didn't answer phone. They don't want any business, apparently. Shameful read more

Excellent food!!! Okay, here's the rundown on Oliver. First off, the young lady at the counter is friendly and helpful. I ordered the fish and prawn combo and picked fries and potato salad as sides. Then I remembered that some spots add egg to their potato salad. I asked and the young lady confirmed their has egg so I subbed in mac and cheese which she confirmed also had egg. Cool! Good looking out baby girl because I'm allergic and not trying to swell up over the holiday weekend. I should have already known the place would be bomb when I saw a couple sistas in the back cooking. These sistas are back there putting it DOWN on the food. The fish was crispy, well-seasoned, hot, fresh, and I got five good sized pieces and my fat ass can eat. Those were good sized pieces. The prawns are super big and plus like two whole potatoes worth of fries. I end up settling on greens as my other side and they had packed them greens in there so tight that the lid was bulging. I had to think long and hard before doing this review because I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. We waited over a hour for our food, the food was bland, over cooked, and under cooked. The macaroni and cheese smelled sour and the banana pudding was brown and foamy . Just an all around mess!! First, let me say the food is not that good. My husband and I went there for shrimp, I went to the restroom to wash my hands and the kitchen was filthy. While I was freshening up and this guy just busts through the door, I later saw him outside with his friend sitting in a corner smoking. I don't want to eat at a restaurant where dirty strangers can come pass the kitchen to use the restroom. Grossed me out. I will never eat there again. Have heard some good things about their food and finally decided to give it a try. The menu is simple but has a great variety of all the favorites. I ordered the seafood special with two oysters and two prawns, side of greens and an order of hush puppies. Hubby got the combo with two sides-3 oysters, 3 prawns and 3 wings with yams and potato salad. Everything is cooked to order, nothing is precooked and waiting under warmers-wad well worth the 15 min wait. Everything was not only seasoned to perfection, it wasn't overly breaded, it was all fried but not dripping in grease, and the size was definitely worth the price. The greens were almost as good as mine (which is the highest compliment I can give as I dont eat everyone's greens lol). The hush puppies reminded me of ones I had when I lived in Atlanta. The oysters were plump and juicy and the prawns were tender and not overcooked. My hubby is a chicken aficionado and he really enjoyed his wings. The yams were NOT out of a can and you can tell a lot of time went into baking them. He even enjoyed the potato salad! The only thing he added was a little hot sauce and said nothing else was needed. So this review is mixed the food is decent but I'm going to get why I gave two stars. First off the lady who owns this is never open when it says she is open. I've been to this location twice and waited on her to come open up and never did .. a couple other people were waiting with me and she never showed up. The owner lady was kinda rude kept rushing us like oh are y'all ready to order like it was annoying. Now I will say her lemonade is the bomb it has real fruit in it was definitely delicious BUT while waiting for food a cockroach came crawling on the counter in plain sight. The hush puppies were the best that I've ever had and I don't really like hush puppies. The greens! OMG! Tasted amazing. I wish i had a bigger container. This review is for the service only, and not the food. Because unfortunately, I was not able to taste it... We came in and presented a $10 restaurant.com certificate before we ordered anything. The young girl then took our order. About 10 minutes later, an older woman comes out and instantly goes 'I don't take this, I don't get anything from this' (referring to the certificate. She then demanded that I go to restaurant.com on my phone so I can see that they no longer offer a $10 certificate and they only have $5. I've been looking for somewhere local to get a decent fish dinner take out. Oliver Fish House in Antioch accomplished that task today. It is a casual, come as you are, no frills eatery and take out. The place itself was freshly painted and very clean. I watched television and chatted with a clean cut and very mannerable young man for the approximate 10 minutes it took to prepare my meal. I told him if I didn't like the food he'd hear from me in an hour. It's been over an hour and he has not heard from me. I ordered the 4-piece red snapper. It came with bread and a choice of french fries, cole slaw or potato salad. I chose the fries. (There was no extra charge for fries, as stated in some of the earlier reviews.) My side order for $1.25 was hush puppies. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned. It was lightly dredged in corn meal and fried to perfection. The fries were not the crinkle cut. They were frozen fries lightly seasoned and pretty much like frozen fries from comparable places. The hush puppies weren't mine but not bad. All the food was freshly cooked to order and piping hot. For $8.99 I got my money's worth. Menu items include catfish, red snapper, buffalo, tilapia, oysters, prawns, crab cakes and chicken wings. The sides included clam chowder, sweet potato and regular fries, cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni & cheese, collard greens and hush puppies. Today's dessert special was red velvet cake. On the regular menu are 7-Up and caramel cake, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler I will try something new the next time I go... tomorrow. LOL. I recommend you give Oliver Fish House a try before you get on highway 4 when you're craving fish. It's close and the cash prices are reasonable (just a little more for credit or debit card purchases). And by the way, the slightly crooked sign did not bother me at all. We got $4 collard greens, $4 mac & cheese which was the bomb, very cheesy and tasty, red beans & rice (the rice was a little soggy but overall it was flavorful), 3 oysters for $4.50, $7.99 fried chicken & fish order (all tasted good, surprisingly there was no taste like the oil needed to be changed. I also got the $4 peach cobbler which was very sweet, not watery at all like some I know. My mom got clam chowder, it tasted kind sweet and they put too much garlic in it. This spot is not a good and respectable place to eat. The owner had children in kitchen they didn't wear and type of protection such as gloves mask and hair nets. The owner didnt have any cash in the cash register she asked a costumer for change. The food was not done. It was nasty. I had to recook it.
