The fish was good, but the service terrible! It wasn't like the place was busy. The two people seated at the tables when I entered, actually worked there. The cook prepared my food, & slowly bagged it all while she was in the middle of a conversation on her cell phone. That's probably why she gave me ketchup, when I asked for tartar sauce. Oliver's fish is very tasty. My husband and I go there all the time with our kids. The entire family loves the fish especially the prawns. If you get the chicken wings they do take about 25 minutes so call ahead. I'm glad we found this place. read more

It was the first time my family and I tried this food, we had the family meal. It was really awesome & delicious! I really enjoyed my favorite veggie, collard greens which were seasoned well! The Mac & Cheese was Yummo! The French fries were lightly cooked and seasoned! The catfish, shrimp, and oysters were fried to perfection not too soft or hard and it was seasoned well! Wonderful fresh fish fried to perfection. This place really can cook fish correctly. Not overcooked and dry inside like some places. No, this place takes their time to prep the fresh fish and cook it just right. The fries are the regular frozen kind but OK. The shrimp are plump and almost had no batter at all on them, nice. They have two prices, one for cash and one for credit. Kinda weird but OK. Folks who run it are nice and friendly and come out to talk to you. Only gripe is they sometimes close without warning. I drive 20 minutes to eat and they are closed on a day they show as being open. Happens too often. The building looks like an old drive in restaurant from the 50's. A little run down. I know the experience I had at Olivers is not an everyday experience, but it was very nice. I called a 9:30PM and they close at 9:00 they were sill in the establishment so they still took our orders. When we got there the lady gave us samples of some of the food while we waited which was amazing the oysters and greens are soo good; well everything we ordered was delicious. The only down side is that they don't open till 5 and it's 10:39 right now and I want some right now. But I'll wait because I really have a taste for Olivers. read more

Yay soul food done well!! :-) I love southern cooking but keep forgetting 'soul food' IS southern cooking. And these folks do it well. I love small mom and pop sort of restaurants both because they can be very friendly and approachable so it can be very comfortable at these places and if they do some of the dishes very well, it's nearly heaven for me. They were out of a couple of things I would have died to try as a favorite: fried okra and sweet potato pie but it was a late night Wednesday so it's understandable as that I don't mind about such places as they are not a "pretentious" Michelin Star kind of restaurant (though I do appreciate them) but a fun kind where the food can be really good and sometimes quite different. Diamond in the rough so to speak without the price! I hope they do well as they are worth it. I have not had catfish before figuring it might be an exotic fish dish and I just don't like fish except for boring cod as in fish and chips. So before putting it in the order they gave me a taste and I was purely delighted and loved it! I missed out on good fish all these years of passing it up in other restaurants! read more

Went there for the first time last night and on top of all the great hospitality and great customer service, their food was delicious!! Portions were big, we received a lot of food for what we spent.
