We have three incidents in a row where the order was delivered other than what we ordered or arrived lukewarm or cold. To try and get the order delivered correct, tried Slice, which is marks the prices up and also imposes a delivery charge. Call Amici's direct. Amici's and Slice appear to have an arrangement where Slice drivers pick up the order from a designated spot in the kitchen after Amici's notifies them of the order. We received delivery estimates from Slice, but in one and one half hours had not received the order. I called and was told it had sat on the counter and Amici's somehow did not call Slice so the order sat and became cold. When we complained, Amici's sent it over by simply reheating the ordered food, and both pizzas we ordered we burnt and nearly tasteless. The order was not the Margherita pizza ordered, but instead was a cheese. The chicken wings were dry and tasteless (if properly cooked they can be very good) Two days ago, we ordered by phone. The Margherita pizza was a cheese pizza without any tomato sauce; the Hawaiian had almost no discernible pineapple or ham. Both pizzas arrived barely lukewarm. (We live no more than 15 minutes from Amici's (generally about 7 inutes) The chicken wings arrived overcooked and bland. Confirm your order very careffully!

The house salad had onions, which we specifically asked be omitted when we ordered. The dressing was supposed to be on the side, but had spilled out. Things they couldn't control but didn't help: cars were parked in the loading area. There was no other parking and we had to park three blocks away and walk there and back. Since there's no way to check the order there, by the time I walked with the food knowing that house guests were waiting, and my husband was very ill, I just drove home. I could have walked back, waited another hour and hoped for less horrible food?

My go-to pizza is called Drag It Through the Garden, which is awfully named considering the variety of toppings on the pizza. I removed the artichoke hearts and broccoli, substituting these with Italian sausage and lingua. It's delicious. The crust is chewy without being soggy. And my go-to sub is the Meatball Parmesan. The meatballs are huge and the sauce is savory. Extreme pizza has a rewards card, whereby you purchased 10 of one particular item you get a free item. I've gotten free meatball subs at least three times now, so that tells you how much I like them. They also throw in a bag of Lays Classic chips for free. The truth is, everything sounds good on the menu here. If you are considering takeout, your order will be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. The staff there is courteous and attentive. Plus they're open seven days a week until at least 9 PM, with 10 PM for Friday & Saturday nights. Check it out and see if you don't agree with me.

They have some good appetizers, and we chose the onion rings and the must-try Ooey Cheesy Balls (5 fried potato balls, mozzarella, parmesan, parsley, house-made smoked jalapeno aioli). The onion rings are plentiful and not at all greasy, a great start to the meal, but the anchor of the apps (for me at least!) are the Cheesy balls. They are different: basically mashed potato balls with cheese inside, deep-fried, and delicious! The house-made smoked jalapeño aioli is awesome too, and it's my preferred dip for the onion rings. For the entrees, I tried a pizza for once, after seeing many good reviews. I tried the Blue pizza (Garlic & herb olive oil, mozzarella, blue cheese, spinach, artichoke, mushroom, red onion). We also had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken sandwich (Butter lettuce, tomato, fresh slaw, pickle slices, house- made smoked jalapeno aioli (mild), brioche bun), the Chicken Salad Sandwich (Poached chicken, celery, parsley, dill, lettuce, tomato, pickled red onion, mayonnaise, focaccia bread) with an added mashed potatoes for a side, and a Chicken Pesto Panini (Pesto, roasted bell pepper, spinach, provolone, mayonnaise, focaccia bread). All the meals were very fresh, and the food was great! The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich was a tower to look at, with two breasts as the main feature. The other sandwiches were well liked as well, but I know I was the lucky one with the pizza for lunch. If you like blue cheese, this is a great pizza you don't often find elsewhere. The toppings were just right, though I wouldn't have minded a bit more blue cheese, and the olive oil base instead of a red sauce was perfect for letting the flavors really come through, with the cheese, meaty chunks of mushrooms, and onions all balancing each other. The crust was a separate delight, a very thin sourdough type with a crust worthy of eating on its own - and it was! Sadly, between the appetizers and the entrees, there was no room for a dessert, and we all took home some of our lunches, and two of us brought home food for others! Always share the goodness . . . Can't wait for the next visit!

So I wanted to like it more than I actually do. Here's my main issue: the sauce situation. There's barely any on the pizza by default, and if you want what I'd consider a normal amount of sauce, they charge extra for it. That feels a bit like charging extra for a burger to actually have seasoning. The cheese is fine, the crust is fine, the toppings are fine. Everything is solidly in "okay" territory. Nothing offensive, but nothing that makes me think "I need to order from here" either. Skip the wings. They taste like they've been reheated from frozen, often arrive soggy, and have this thick breading that slides right off. Worse, they're frequently overcooked to the point where the bones actually splinter inside the meat, which is both unappetizing and kind of concerning. Just not worth ordering. The staff is genuinely friendly, which counts for something. There's a private parking lot, so no circling the block looking for a spot. And the coupons they mail out regularly do bring the price down to a reasonable level compared to other chain pizza places in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to order from Stefano's, but I seem to be in the minority here. Plenty of people clearly love it. There's a reason it's become the default pizza for so many local schools and camps. Kids especially seem to be fans, and if you're feeding a crowd on a budget with their coupons, it gets the job done. It's a perfectly serviceable neighborhood pizza place that works well for many people, just not my first choice. If you're curious, maybe start with just a pizza (extra sauce, trust me) and form your own opinion.

The atmosphere felt a bit impersonal at first, mostly because of the mall setting and the QR-code ordering system, but the friendly staff helped make it feel much more comfortable once we got settled. The two people working the front were both very pleasant, answered my questions, and made the whole experience feel much more welcoming. They had a decent IPA selection and a variety of bar foods (pizza, wings, appetizers). We ordered the arancini, fried cauliflower, and a pizza. The fried cauliflower was the surprise hit for me, especially with the garlic aioli. The arancini and pizza were also very good. The QR ordering setup still feels more frustrating than inviting, but the friendly service and surprisingly good food turned things around. In the end, I left glad that I stayed.
