Stefano's is clearly a local favorite, given you often see their boxes at school events, camp lunches, and neighborhood gatherings all the time. So I wanted to like it more than I actually do. Here's my main issue: the sauce situation. There's barely any on the pizza by default, and if you want what I'd consider a normal amount of sauce, they charge extra for it. That feels a bit like charging extra for a burger to actually have seasoning. The cheese is fine, the crust is fine, the toppings are fine. Everything is solidly in "okay" territory. Nothing offensive, but nothing that makes me think "I need to order from here" either. Skip the wings. They taste like they've been reheated from frozen, often arrive soggy, and have this thick breading that slides right off. Worse, they're frequently overcooked to the point where the bones actually splinter inside the meat, which is both unappetizing and kind of concerning. Just not worth ordering. The staff is genuinely friendly, which counts for something. There's a private parking lot, so no circling the block looking for a spot. And the coupons they mail out regularly do bring the price down to a reasonable level compared to other chain pizza places in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to order from Stefano's, but I seem to be in the minority here. Plenty of people clearly love it. There's a reason it's become the default pizza for so many local schools and camps. Kids especially seem to be fans, and if you're feeding a crowd on a budget with their coupons, it gets the job done. It's a perfectly serviceable neighborhood pizza place that works well for many people, just not my first choice. Disappointing Experience at Terra Linda Branch I ordered a Hawaiian pizza with the XL $30 off promotion, but it turned out to be an absolute disappointment. There were barely any toppings or meat on it at all. If you're going to discount your food but slash the quality this drastically, you should just warn customers beforehand that the promotion only gets them crust and 20% of the actual toppings. Called in an order for delivery. It seemed the guy who answered was friendly. I ordered an XL Mill Valley pizza and requested mushrooms only on half and a Caesar salad. Because I was staying in a hotel, I requested plates, napkins, pepper flakes, parm cheese. I also requested ranch dressing. The guy said no problem and my order comes with 3 ranch cups. Hmmm... Deliver arrived on time as stated 30min. He did not bring any of the requested items, not even utensils for the salad. Delivery guy stated it was not on the receipt. ‍ I called the store and spoke the guy who took my order. He said he would let the delivery guy know and redeliver the items. He called back and said the delivery guy would return in 20-25 min due to delivering other orders. That was ridiculous and horrible service. There was nothing done to resolve the situation. The pizza ended up being cold while waiting to see if I would get my items. It was good tasting but looked mediocre is presentation. The salad was not worth the price at all. We keep giving Stefano's a chance and we are continually disappointed. We placed an online order for four pizzas on Christmas Eve for a gathering at our home. A delivery time for was committed to and payment plus tip was collected from our credit card. The pizzas never came and nobody answered our several phone calls. It looks like we will be spending our holiday break trying to collect a refund from Stefanos. Our guests are eating frozen food. I ordered 5 XL pizzas for delivery last weekend for a group of 20 people who were all in town for a memorial so we were at a hotel. The pizzas arrived quicker than the expected time. They were hot and the looked just like the photos. The ingredients seemed to be fresh and of high quality. The only thing was that I had asked for 20 plates and I think we got around 7. I was visiting a friend and decided to order pizza and chose Stephano's the pizza was good. Sauce had the perfect amount of garlic the chicken on the pizza was really good over a really good pizza. The only complaint that I have is the crust could have been crunchier! But I warmed it up the leftovers in a pan the next day and it was great got the crunch I wish it would have had day 1. This Stefano's location must be the worst one. Prior to the pandemic the place was decent but since I've noticed the toppings are scarce. I ordered extra pepperoni once knowing that a regular order had very little. picked up the pizza and I swear there was no additional pepperoni! I live in Terra Linda and work in Mill Valley. If you choose to order Stefano's in the future, I'd advise you to order at the Mill Valley location. Much better, you'd think it was a different business, which I guess it ultimately is. This particular location was recently the "martian" pizza place, so I thought I'd check out the new configuration. So, I love lots of things about Stefanos - the whole Solar thing, the fresh ingredients, the dough itself. Not too much cheese (a pet peeve when it's too drippy) so a good ratio of ingredients. For me though, the ovens they use just don't cut it. The finished product seems to need to go thorugh a second time to get the kind of browned, crunchy crust you get say at Amici's or W Brooklyn if you ask for it. The suzy homemaker oven ... meh. If it had just been how baffled they seemed by their own ordering system, or that they never really owned the problem ("You must have placed the order at the wrong store"), or didn't appear to actually be listening to any details, or even that the manager became ruder the more exasperated (but still polite) I became... aggravating, but still not one star-worthy. No, this one star review is because -- after all of the above -- no, I could not receive the courtesy of a text message when my order was finally ready. Instead, I could jostle my toddler outside the door, listen to the staff mock other customers who'd had problems ordering, and wait for my order to be unceremoniously dumped on the table when it was finally ready. This wasn't just a bad night. This is how they treat customers on a regular basis (e.g., see, also, Lauren F's review). No idea how the other locations are... but I highly recommend avoiding this one. * ETA: As one of my guests observed, "They deliver, right? We have been enjoying Stefano's pizza in Corte Madera since 2005. And in Novato on occasion as well. Always delicious, our go-to choice for pizza. But EVERY time over the years that we have gotten a pizza from the Las Gallinas location (for convenience) it is CONSISTENTLY terrible. We tried again yesterday and we couldn't eat it. We threw it away. The dough was half raw. The half and half toppings were tossed on all over place and these was 3 times more cheese than even we cheese lovers could enjoy. Stefano's management might consider looking into improvements to the quality of this location. We won't attempt to try it again. We'll stick with Corte Madera and Novato which are delicious. read more

I learned that a new Stefano's location had opened up in Terra Linda after reading a recommendation on nextdoor.com. The nextdoor discussion quickly diverged into a debate on pineapple pizza that people took way too seriously because internets, but I was intrigued by the comments from a few New Yorkers that Stefano's is the real deal. Since I moved to California, I've been on a search for the holy grail of real New York style pizza. Now that Napoli Pizza and Pasta is gone, there are no real contenders. Stefano's comes pretty darn close. Their pizza margherita has a nice chewy crust, although it does not have the exact same texture as authentic New York pizza, according to my New York born mom. I use to order from the Novato store all the time. This time i ordered delivery from the Terra Linda location. I am not sure what happened if it was a delivery issue or a location issue. I got extra cheese and it was basically regular cheese, it was not a piping hot pizza. It was luke warm but didnt take an excessive amount of time to deliver(sub 40). Maybe they dont use the warm insulating things other places do? Also a delivery charge? Stefano's on Las Gallinas steps into the familiar space once held by Three Martian's Pizza. The day I stopped in, the cashier greeted me with a smile and was friendly with the customers as they came through. As this was my first slice from any Stefano's pizza, I was glad to learn two things: 1. A "slice" means two pieces of pizza 2. It was REALLY good Given the seating options, I see this location as more of a "takeout" place. That said, if you're just there for a slice, the colorful outdoor cafe tables and handful of barstools along the window will do just fine for up to a few people. Given my appreciation for the previous pizza place, I was delighted to find this worthy successor. We'll definitely keep this Stefano's location on our go-to list. read more
