Vegan pizza served on cardboard (aka vegan wheat gluten-free crust.)
    Clyde L.

Where do I start? Let's start at $31 for the worst pizza I've ever had. They didn't have any vegan protein/meat toppings as advertised. They didn't have vegan pizza crust as advertised. For some unknown reason their regular crust is not vegan. Huh? So I was stuck with gluten free crust which tastes and looks like cardboard. They then didn't put any pizza sauce on the pizza when I ordered marinara. So they remade pizza and it was worse than first one. VEGANS - Avoid this place - go to Amici's instead. Btw, shout out to extreme pizza in Walnut Creek. They had one of the best vegan pizzas I've ever had.

Love the cornmeal crust and service was good. There's a small room in the back with some arcade games that are shut down, hopefully it will be up and running again someday. Stopped by for lunch after realizing the new burger place is vegan and wanted meat. This place looks like it's got a decent amount of space and lots of potential. Lunch combo is reasonably priced. I got the slice with salad combo, my friend got the slice and soda for $7.99 or $6.99, I forgot. Food was good, service was good. Overall not a bad choice

When I walked in, it had a homeless smell. Not sure if it was because a homeless person was recently inside or what. Ordered 2 slices of combo and 1 slice of pepperoni and it was about $21. I was thinking to myself... that is pretty pricey for 3 slices of pizza but it turned out their 1 slice is equivalent to 2 slices. It wasn't bad, but there was like no flavor to the pizzas if that makes sense. Probably wouldn't come back.

BEST GF Vegan Pizza EVER at Extreme Pizza San Rafael tonite! Kudos to crew tonite! Front of house host Charlie gave me great tip to pick up a single non alcoholic beer across the street and I got a Lagunitas IPNA that was so full flavored you would not know it was N/A! The chef tonite made this pizza perfectly to order, and baked to perfection - crust crispy at outer edges, chewy and tender inside, perfectly browned. It was so beautiful it was a work of art! I ordered veggies, extra sauce (their sauce is the best, very bright and tomato-y) and the Daiya vegan cheese is the best for melting, taste and satisfying experience. Dog loved it too! 5 Stars!

Never a better place than extreme pizza. Ordered two slices, lady gave me 2 large wholesome slices and cut each in half. Great deal for $10.

Pad Thai, served with a crunchy soft large roll cut in half, good luck eating both halves it's a meal and a half

The San Rafael store the Best Location of any Xtreme Pizza in Northern California! It is run by Cameron and their approach is to not let one sandwich go out unless it is "Xtremely " Perfect! My favorite is the Bahn . I've had others that are Delicious! The Xtreme Pizza franchise has independent owners with freedom to experiment to make best sandwiches. My wife loves their pizzas and the lunch specials. The ordering is directly under the management staff, giving you the best service possible. They are happy to explain what goes on each of their many sandwiches with "Xtremely" great attitude! The beautiful hand painted skateboards & surf boards hanging throughout the pizzeria, sports on tv sets & music mixed with the intoxicating smells of the food is awesome! I have built 2 Delicatessens and owned an Italian restaurant and found that serving food with 100% satisfaction is the best expression of love. Have an "Xtremely " Nice Day and Thank You for reading my Post!

Great pizza. Still selling by the slice and seems reasonable priced. I've been going there for many years and it never disapoints.

The tomato and basil pizza was burnt so badly that it was inedible. It was beyond horrible. Yet, it was boxed and sealed and we were charged for it. The meat one was charred on one side and raw on the other. It wasn't edible. The wedge salad was whole and mostly iceberg lettuce with some tomato and one tub of ranch dressing. The house salad had onions, which we specifically asked be omitted when we ordered. The dressing was supposed to be on the side, but had spilled out. Things they couldn't control but didn't help: cars were parked in the loading area. There was no other parking and we had to park three blocks away and walk there and back. Since there's no way to check the order there, by the time I walked with the food knowing that house guests were waiting, and my husband was very ill, I just drove home. I could have walked back, waited another hour and hoped for less horrible food?

You honestly can't go wrong with any pie. They don't take reservations and it's hard to find on your first visit. A few words in and a glance at some pics, I was sold. Here's where my next pizza is coming from. Shot out a quick text to my buddy in SF and eagerly awaited 5:00 PM opening time. I love pizza. It's kind of the perfect food for me. I could eat it every day. I'm somewhat of a pizza stalker, (arrest me) and this is as good as it gets. We shared a MARGHERITA pizza. Tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil. My buddy had a beautiful large portion HOUSE CAESAR. Little gems, anchovy, lemon, breadcrumbs, parmigiano, reggiano. A delicious craft cocktail for me: NONNO'S CARDIGAN- bourbon, meletti, black walnut, orange zest. The rotating hazy beer for my buddy.... Dig it baby, the only thing missing was a live jazz trio. I was so pleased that I returned a couple hours later with my wife and we had a delicious mushroom pizza.. Great "speakeasy vibe" with expert, classy interior design/decorating work. Truly a jewel in downtown San Rafael which definitely needs something to sparkle. And, it is located above top-notch restaurant, Vin Antico on fourth Street. Now you have two reasons to visit downtown. If a picture is worth 1000 words, here is a mouthful. Food for thought, have a peek. "He that keeps not crust nor crum Weary of all, shall want some." So I wanted to like it more than I actually do. Here's my main issue: the sauce situation. There's barely any on the pizza by default, and if you want what I'd consider a normal amount of sauce, they charge extra for it. That feels a bit like charging extra for a burger to actually have seasoning. The cheese is fine, the crust is fine, the toppings are fine. Everything is solidly in "okay" territory. Nothing offensive, but nothing that makes me think "I need to order from here" either. Skip the wings. They taste like they've been reheated from frozen, often arrive soggy, and have this thick breading that slides right off. Worse, they're frequently overcooked to the point where the bones actually splinter inside the meat, which is both unappetizing and kind of concerning. Just not worth ordering. The staff is genuinely friendly, which counts for something. There's a private parking lot, so no circling the block looking for a spot. And the coupons they mail out regularly do bring the price down to a reasonable level compared to other chain pizza places in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to order from Stefano's, but I seem to be in the minority here. Plenty of people clearly love it. There's a reason it's become the default pizza for so many local schools and camps. Kids especially seem to be fans, and if you're feeding a crowd on a budget with their coupons, it gets the job done. It's a perfectly serviceable neighborhood pizza place that works well for many people, just not my first choice. If you're curious, maybe start with just a pizza (extra sauce, trust me) and form your own opinion.

They have their own house-made chili oil which was really good, just a bit too spicy for my tastes (as someone who doesn't eat too spicy things), but my boyfriend enjoyed it. We ordered the Stella Pinsa (Mozzarella, crescenza cheese, prosciutto parma, and seasonal mushrooms), Ghiretti Panino (Prosciutto Parma, Fiordi latte mozzarella, fresh tomato ,arugula, evo), and Stracciatella Gilato. The stella pinsa was my favorite, the panini was equally as good and the tomato and arugula added freshness. Heather informed us the pinsa is their dough that is proofed for 48(?) hours, so it tastes a bit like sourdough. We were also told that their gelato flavors rotate and they make it in house too! It's inside a mall, and I did not see any directories to point the way. Once we found it and sat down, I noticed the sign telling us to scan the QR code on the table to order. Honestly, that almost sent me right back out the door. I wanted an actual menu, not a tiny phone screen with lots of scrolling and submenus, especially since I had questions about the food. The atmosphere felt a bit impersonal at first, mostly because of the mall setting and the QR-code ordering system, but the friendly staff helped make it feel much more comfortable once we got settled. The two people working the front were both very pleasant, answered my questions, and made the whole experience feel much more welcoming. They had a decent IPA selection and a variety of bar foods (pizza, wings, appetizers). We ordered the arancini, fried cauliflower, and a pizza. The fried cauliflower was the surprise hit for me, especially with the garlic aioli. The arancini and pizza were also very good.
