Went to Olivers on 12-11-15. Had the best wings I have had in a long time and the cheese sticks were out of this world. Great waffle fries. And the waitress was courteous, friendly and prompt. Oh and the french onion soup was very good. read more

Second time here.....was looking forward to the potato soup. Very watery, not as good as first visit. Took 60 minutes to receive our food. The part that upsets me is the staff was gathered at the end of the bar eating their meal and chatting and not expediting our order. We had 8 people. All in all, the sandwiches were hot and tasty. We will give them another shot. One last comment: the manager or supervisor should really get involved when the process "roadblocks" or slows down. read more

I LOVE OLIVER'S. They have drink specials everyday of the week and food specials too! They have GREAT food, especially the buffalo chicken sandwich and the fried pickles. My best friend and I go here many times because we need our fix. They have nice servers, a mellow atmosphere and decent prices. Its a fun place to be at during the sports games. LOVE IT! read more

I went there with a group of people and everyone paid in cash except me. I hand the server our check with the cash and my credit card in it and tell her how much I want put on the card. She brings me a receipt with that amount on it so I figured it was fine. When I get home later I check my bank account and see that my card was ran twice. Once for the amount I said was going on the card and again for the whole bill! I called and spoke with a manager and found out she already let someone know about the mistake. However I am upset that while I was in the restaurant she did not bother to inform me about the mistake. I'm also not happy because I have to wait 1 to 2 business days to get my money back. The bill was for 6 people so it was pretty pricey. I'm a grad student, I don't have a lot of extra money so this has ruined my weekend. Also, we noticed an ant crawling on the table. read more

I have been to Oliver's 5 times and never had a bad meal or service. They have a variety of specialty burgers to choose from that are always cooked just the way you ordered and the appetizers are outstanding. The waitstaff is friendly and always taking care of you. This is a large, loud, neighborhood sports bar with slow service, below average food and a small selection of craft beers. They don't carry some top shelf liquors. The bar food is your typical frozen then deep fried food. The nacho chips are generic. The pizza dough tastes like Chef Boy Ar Dee. There is nothing on the menu that is memorable or outstanding. I have eaten here three times because I was invited for business lunches. Each time I was so disappointed. I really want to like it because I live in the neighborhood, but I can't. They really need to hire a good cook and some friendly, seasoned bartenders and waitstaff. They also need to put more lighting in the back parking lot. read more

Time to review the "garbage food" they serve here. I have been here at least a dozen times. Today's lunch was enough to motivate me to finally leave a review and say why I'm done coming here. We ordered two Club Sandwiches which were served to us with nasty unripened refrigerated yellow (should be red) tomatoes on burnt toast. They took very little time or effort in bothering to spread the mayo the bread. (Don't hurt yourself there buddy!) The turkey had cartilage and veins showing on various pieces. Whoever made these did not put any pride in his job as a cook. In between one of the layers of the bread was a very weak layer of a few pieces of gross turkey. The cobb salad was all iceberg lettuce. Get with times Oliver's!! You can't step it up to a little Romaine Lettuce, something a little greener with more nutritional value? Why bother serving salad at all if it is going to be a non-nutritional iceberg lettuce! This restaurant does not take pride in the food they serve and cut corners to use "low quality" food in their cooking. Here's a tip for the cook. If you burn the bread don't try to hide it in the sandwich. Burnt bread still tastes burnt whether you hide it or not. Throw it out and start over! I won't be back anytime soon and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! It's time restaurants like Oliver's start stepping up the quality of the food they are serving. read more

The only reason this gets one star is so that I can post this. I was unable to even have an experience here, so my true rating is 0 stars. My friend called earlier in the day and placed a reservation for our party of 12, because it was Game 7 for the Blackhawks and we knew it would be packed. I arrive to meet my friend, only for him to tell me that they have no record of our reservation. He also informs me that they said to wait until 6:40 and if a party did not show up, there was a chance we could have their table. 6:40 rolls around and no one comes over to inform us of the situation. At this point, my friend has been standing around for 40 minutes waiting. One of the other members of our party goes to the hostess stand for an update. He is speaking with an employee when, a person who I can only assume is the manager, walks up. He asks her about the status of our situation calmly. She says, in an extremely loud and rude tone, to wait the 10 minutes they said (which we already had) and that they would call us when they were ready. She continues to repeat phrases like that for a few minutes, then walks away, still leaving us unsure of the situation. Other patrons in the bar appeared to be shaking their heads at our group, so that gives the atmosphere a major thumbs down. The one nice thing was the hostess. She continuously apologized to our group the entire span of the time we were there and really tried to help us. Four for you! As people are coming in, they are being allowed to take tables from people that are leaving. One member of our party asks how people that are just arriving are receiving tables, over our group who, some members, have been there for an hour. (There were only 6 of us there at this point, not even our full party.) The hostess goes to check where we are on the waiting list and informs us that, either no one put our name down or they only went by first name, and again, never updated us on the situation. After I was there for half an hour and other members of our party were there for over an hour, we decided to just leave, seeing as the staff was literally walking past and ignoring us. I understand that they were busy, but this was entirely unacceptable. If we would have been disrespectful, then I would understand that reaction. However, we were trying to resolve the situation. They chose to ignore it. This was a very unfortunate situation, seeing as I was excited because they served a drink I rarely find when I am out. I was completely appalled by this treatment. Apparently the customer is never right at this establishment. I have no interest at all in returning and will make sure that my peers are aware of my extremely negative experience. read more

This was a nice neighborhood find. The atmosphere was great. People of all ages packed the place on a Friday night for the all You Can Eat Fish Fry. Everyone was very friendly and the place was clean. It was a great time to be here due to the fact that the Cubs had finally won a World Series and the entire city of Chicago was one big party afterwards. When the Go Cubs Go jungle played on the in house music system, just about every one in the place started singing. Plenty of televisions to watch the games. It is like an Applebees or a Fridays but with nice Local atmosphere. Honestly, the food was average at best, but this place gets 4 stars because of the environment. read more

My wife and I come here often. The food is great and so are the servers. The management, on the other hand, is a mess. Our favorite time to be at Olivers is when Julie is behind the bar. This was our (my husband teen son and pre-teen and myself) first time visiting Oliver's we were looking for a Fish Fry since it is Lent. They have an all you can eat fish fry every Friday the Alaskan Pollock is delicious and very good portions. Our server was Jackie and she was awesome they were very busy but she made sure all of tables were not forgotten. We did not have to wait for refills she was on top of everything. Blaaaaahhhhhh. That's all I can say about Olivers. Outside the service, which is sluggish at best, there is nothing in particular with the place that is horrible....it's just boring. Kudos for opening a bar where there isn't another around, which is the main positive contributing factor. read more

Went here for lunch after a bad service experience at another restaurant. Happy to say that our experience here was great. The waitess was friendly,knowledgeable,and most important she provided great customer service. Thanks Maggie! We had the Bruschetta appetizer and Cream of Chicken soup both were great. The Pizza was also good as we almost finished the whole pie. The suggested Miller Lite Basket was also refreshing! read more

Here's the deal.... The food is pretty darn good, the service sucks! Came here for lunch today and apparently they cannot read their own signs or are aware of their prices/specials online. It started out $6 pitcher specials on their website, upon arrival notice not 1, not 2 but 3 signs advertising $7 pitchers. Ok, no big deal deal..(our server also let us know about these "$7 pitchers") Low and behold when the bill came the pitchers were now $8. We brought this to our servers attention and was told she would "see what she could do". Came back and said "sorry manager said the prices just changed". Um, really?? Not cool. False advertising!! Yea it's a $1 but principle is principle. Don't even even get me started on the $2 up charge for a pretzel bun!!:) ended up paying $13.25 for a grilled chicken sandwich and fries. where are we, the gold coast?? bottom line, food is great but service not so much. Management, especially the gal working today at 2:30 pm, needs to get it together. read more

Horrid Customer Service, we held a reservation for the Blackhawks Western Conference Final game 7, only to discover they never record our reservation. They offered no remedy to help us except for a too bad. The management was totally rude and clearly incapable of handling the high volume for the evening. HORRRRIBLE! NEVER AGAIN! Drink special was 4.50 tall bottles, nope...All the glasses were broke. Ordered a Pacifico, nope...All out. Waitress didn't bother to say hi, introduce herself, or offer drink specials or food specials (I had to ask). $5 burgers, nope...you get 2 toppings ONLY for $5 (cheese includes a topping). Tobasco sauce was watery and discolored (pulled a new one from a diff table). Restaurant was cold and hostess was shivering. Terrible experience. Will never return. 1st & last. read more
