Arrived at 11AM was told lunch would not be available until 1130AM. We said no problem. He (Sandiego) took our order at 1115 and said I will put it in at 1130 and should be ready about 1145ish. We said no problem. At 1155AM we ask if our order is almost ready just for him to tell us they had a unexpected rush and he had no idea when it would be ready. I then said okay let us pay for our 2 tea's and we will be on our way. Right away he said "No problem let me bring you the check". My guest and I stayed there in shock. He should have told us at 1130 we had a big take out rush and it might take a little longer to prepare. Worst customer service ever. My boyfriend and I came here for an early dinner on a Friday night. It was a quiet which was kind of nice. The restaurant is located in a hotel, leaving for lots of tourists outside of LA. I am writing this review for Paul, our server. He was really attentive during our dinner. The food was also great. I ordered a margarita which was really strong (not a bad thing) but Paul made sure it was to my liking. I also left my sunglasses there by accident, came back to pick it up & it was still there. We used a business debit card and Paul went out of his way to search my boyfriend's company to make sure I get my sunglasses. We will definitely be back here! read more

O is for Olives Bistro and O is for OBSCURE OBSCURE--adj far from public notice, worldly affairs, or important activities; remote; retired: an obscure little town. That's what http://dictionary.com says and that is the best word to describe my meal at Olives bistro. Why is this place so obscure? Why does it only have 7 prior reviews in the past 3 and a half years? How come I, of all people, a big-time breakfast lover never heard of this play, and never would have except I was seeking out a place that began with the letter "O"? Well, I went seeking the answer to these burning questions today, and while I did not find them, I did find a nice inexpensive place to have a first-rate breakfast. And in spite of its location in a nice hotel, it was reasonably priced as well. Not cheap-cheap like a Denny's but my omelette (Bacon, Mushroom, Cheddar) with taters and toast and a cup of coffee came to $12.51 with tax. And it was good. At breakfast, I am not looking for earth-shaking, I want comfort. Olives was extra clean, extra quiet, and the service was professional and polite. That's all I wanted and that's exactly what I got. The waitress filled my coffee cup when needed, had the condiments and silverware there before my meal arrived and had a pleasant smile. All she did was perfectly do the simple things so many places get wrong. the omelet was a little (but not too much) overdone, but the hash browns were extra crispy--just like I asked for. I don't get to Burbank at breakfast time very often, but I will be back to try lunch one day soon. So, getting back to the original theme--why is this place so obscure? Perhaps because there is no obvious entrance off the street. Perhaps because people don;t realize that hotel restaurants are open to the public. Or, perhaps people just assume it is going to be pricey. I don't have an answer. I just know that there is a good place for breakfast in Burbank that probably won't be too crowded. Enjoy. Ok so I was totally thinking that this was some weird restaurant. Kinda laid out weird. But I thought the menu was good but what really took me by surprise was that the food was excellent. I got the special which was tilapia in a cream dill sauce. It was cooked perfectly. And the waiter even had them split the plate for me cause I shared the dish. Pros: Very friendly and attentive wait staff, large portions, reasonable prices, and good food. This is more diner like than Bistro, but you are charged appropriately. They allowed us to bring empty wine glasses to our room for a bottle we had, and that was appreciated. Again, VERY awesome waitstaff and I regret not being able to recall specific names to awknowledge them. My husband and I have had two meals here, breakfast and dinner. Our dinner was AMAZING! We both ordered the special which was a steak filet topped with blue crab. My husband is a bit of a foodie and we have been to many steakhouses, but this was the best steak we have ever had at a restaurant! The restaurant is small, quaint, quiet, and clean. Both waiters that we had were very friendly, helpful, and fun to chat with. They were both very knowledgeable and helped us plan a bit of sightseeing. Luke was especially helpful and outgoing with great customer service skills. We will definitely be going back! Great food and great staff! We wanted to check out this restaurant since we were nearby & the reviews on yelp were pretty good. Service was excellent. Ronnie our server checked on us constantly. It was totally empty inside the restaurant, but there were people on the outside & at the bar. Just seemed pretty odd that the inside of the restaurant was empty. I mean, I've never been to a restaurant for dinner & no one (other than us) were seated in the restaurant. The restaurant is inside the Coast Annabelle Hotel. The food was ok but not much to rave about. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip. It was really cheesy, but if you like a lot of cheese then you'd probably enjoy it. I read the great reviews about the raspberry spinach salad. In my opinion, it was ok but it could use a little more acid to the dressing. The fish & chips and the Greek salad were excellent. Convenient restaurant if you are staying at the Coast Anabelle Hotel. We drove all day from San Francisco to L.A. and were tired and were looking for a restaurant not far, nothing complicated. We decided to go to Olive's Bistro which is connected to the hotel. Very good service from Luke, our server. Very friendly and we didn't have to wait long for the food. Price are reasonable and the food was good (not amazing but good). It is a small restaurant, if you look for something good, reasonable pricing, nothing complicated, I recommend the Olive's Bistro. We are always treated with a happy smile and genuinely friendly attitude no matter what staff we encounter. This place is literally the neighborhood place to go in a more upscale environment. Now Dennis, is the best bartender! He makes it his business to get to know you in a genuinely friendly capacity. Very good hotel restaurant near the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. The Vegetable soup had really good flavor and sizeable pieces of Vegetables in it. The French Dip was very flavorful and the fries were hot and crisp. read more

The food was fine. Not really up to par with the high prices but good enough. The one star is because of the horrendous wait staff. My group theorized that they must have been drunk. We ordered drinks that we got ONLY because I asked where they were AS we were being served our entrees. Our waiter immediately blamed another employee saying it was his job to get the drinks and deliver them. The waiter said he would follow the guy to make sure he did his job "properly this time." It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. Plus, we were only one of three tables dining that night. There was really no excuse to have ignored us for so long. The other guy randomly came up to our table and told us "anything you like is because of me! But anything you hate is because of him (pointing to our waiter)." EXTREMELY unprofessional. Both of them would yell at each other in the kitchens that could be heard clearly in the dining area. They would come to our table and try to mingle with us, whilst yelling to the other that was still in the kitchen. They spoke poorly of their coworkers that weren't in that night. I cannot stress enough how unprofessional these two were. Regretfully, I did not get their names. I will not be going back to this establishment. The over-priced food and the (horribly) mixed drink definitely did not make up for the immaturity and unprofessionalism of the employees. read more

Olive's Bistro is a great spot for lunch. You've likely driven right by it and never noticed, as it's a hotel cafe. It's inside the Anabelle Hotel, head right thru the lobby, and then turn left past the bar. So it's just an average hotel cafe right? Wrong. Here's why this place rocks: 1. It's not crowded. That means - instant table and a dedicated server for the small room. How can you beat that? 2. Variety. Just as many salads as burgers and sandwiches. 3. Unique food. Burgers with gorgonzola and crispy onions, steak salad, cilantro pesto chicken melt. It's not just hotel cafe food. 4. Affordable. 5. Plenty of parking. Need I say more? I have no idea why this place isn't crowded. It's probably because people think it's just for the hotel patrons. If you work in the studios around Burbank, this is also one of the few places to have a conversation without everyone else you work with there also. It's a simple place - quiet and good. We explained to the waitress that we were all dying for breakfast food so she talked to the kitchen and they obliged. Big time points for catering to the needs of their patrons. I ordered the California omelet which was FANTASTIC! The spinach and tomatoes were fresh, and it came with huge slices of avocado on top. It seemed to me they picked the avocados off of a tree in heaven because they were perfect. They have the best hashbrowns I have ever eaten in my life. And the orange juice was just right. Our server was extremely friendly and made me a cocktail even though the bar wasn't technically "open", again catering to my every need. (Although, I will say, my bloody mary could have used a bit more Vodka). As far as cleanliness, the place was immaculate. The decor was charming and the quiet outpouring of elevator music from the speakers above made the whole ambiance quite peaceful. Prices were reasonable (my meal and the kindness of the staff was off the charts. When I walked into the bathroom, it was everything I would've expected from this place. Sparkling. I randomly selected Olive's Bistro for a blind date. I wasn't sure what to expect however, the reviews here were pretty favorable. When I actually saw the establishment, I was surprised that this place was not crowded on Saturday night. My first instinct was that I made a bad decision. However, contrary to what I thought, Olive's Bistro actually has good food. I can only assume that this place gets crowded during the week days since it is conveniently located in Burbank. The food and service were both good. Our waiter/bartender was very attentive to our needs (besides the fact that at the time that we dined, my date and I were the only ones inside). This is how a bar should be. This is how customer service should be. The intimacy of the bar, demands that you converse with everyone present. If not, your resident bartender, Dennis, "who likes to provide a product that the people will enjoy," will introduce everybody to everybody, which instinctively, provokes conversation. There's a pretty sexy hotel here too. I give them an A on cleanliness & management. Nora is incredible! First time at the Olive Bistro, when we arrived we noticed it was part of a hotel. My friend and I debated going in. But a friendly waiters smile lured us in. Very charming and elegant looking restaurant. Completely empty but we decided to stay. The same waiter (Luke) was beyond friendly. Made us feel welcomed. I had one of their burgers (Annabelle) the meat was so flavorful and well cooked, big portion for the price I even added mushrooms and it came out to $12 my friend had the Raspberry salad (btw very yummy) the experience was very pleasant I highly recommend this place. Good food at a good price. Ate breakfast there three days of my stay at the hotel, and had a good meal each time. Portions were generous - ordered bacon and eggs and got four strips of bacon! Hash browns cooked just the way I like them - slightly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside.
