Almost 1 year ago I wrote a far less than rave review about Oliviana's. At the request of a friend who really wanted to eat there I went back with a party of friends, slightly larger than the previous time and at approximately the same time. So, more or less that same conditions as before, and the results of this visit was .... Great, honestly the food was wonderful, and service was, like before, topnotch. Met up with a friend here while I was visiting for town. There was a slight wait (about 15 min or so), but by the time we were seated we were met by our server who was extremely energetic and knowledgeable! I got the lasagna and we started with an appetizer.. both were delicious! And food came out quick! Nice place to kick back at the bar or dining room alone, a date or with friends. Husband and I were greeted right away and seated at a good table. Waitress was friendly, warm and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered drinks, appetizer and entrees. The waitress, Ashley, spaced our food and drinks out appropriately. All of the food was served piping hot and the drinks were nicely chilled. Management even stopped by our table to ask if we were enjoying our visit. With that said, we have lowered our expectations having lived all over the world and the US. Oliviana's was a major strike out. The calamari was either tough or undercooked. Online it was stated to be a Happy Hour selection but not so. The crab cake was tasty but too much salt. The pizza considering that they have a brick oven was a total miss. If you have dental issues DO NOT get the ribeye. I was not the least bit impressed with the steak. Super tough and came with a large garlic butter lump on top. I was always told.... If it's a good steak, you don't need to top it with anything. Guess that holds true. We also ordered the salmon which left a lot to be desired as well. Great place in Surrey!!! Met a girlfriend here in Augusta during Masters' week for apps and drinks, and we had a blast!!! Good food, great drinks, and a whole lot of fun learning to salsa!!!! We sat at a high top in the bar area. Next time we'll be sure to get there early, so we can be closer to the dance floor where all the action happens! There were lots of couples on the dance floor jamming and periodically an instructor would belt out some step instructions and perform the sequenced steps for all to attempt. Soon after the crowd followed her lead. We loved the music, so hats off to the DJ! We noticed a few dancers meant to entice you out of your seat onto the dance floor which eventually happened to us!!! Learning to salsa was really fun!!! Our drink of choice on this evening was the Expressotini. They were delicious!!!! For an appetizer, we decided on the bruschetta also great! After a certain hour, they offer a limited menu including only a few apps and their pizzas. We shared a Quattro Stagioni pizza topped with prosciutto, artichoke, mushroom, black olives & mozzarella. This was my second visit to Oliviana's. My first visit was over 6 years ago and I don't really remember what I ordered. Oooh but honey, I won't forget this. My mouth is watering as I type this! I ordered the Stromboli. It came with mozz, pepperoni, sausage, meatball, and I asked our waiter if they could add ricotta in it. They did for no additional charge! This was sooo good. The bread alone was hot and crispy. Dipping it in the paired marinara was excellent. I can't wait to go back. We went in late Sunday evening to just grab a couple cannolis. The inside is GORGEOUS. The cannoli was not great- filling was not firm. I am no food expert, but my family being from NY I love my cannolis so this was a disappointment. We will be coming here to try their food though! Will update once we do! read more

This is pretty good as far as Italian fare goes. It has a classy atmosphere to it, even though it's pretty casual, if that makes sense. They also seem to have some cool community building events like a dance night, which I unfortunately did not get to attend. I showed up on a Sunday night, and the place was packed. However, the hostess sat us fairly quickly and our waiter showed up pretty quickly to address us and put in our drink orders. Our waiter was very helpful but a little bit too talkative for my taste. On the bright side, he was very proud of the place. He explained to us that the food USED TO be mediocre, but now he was glad to stand behind what the new chefs had to offer. And I agree, the foods that we ordered were all very good. While not entirely authentic Italian, it is a cut above what the chains Olive Garden, Carrabas, and Macaroni Grill have to offer combined. What I did find very annoying was that in all his talk, our waiter had informed us he was going to bring out bread and just forgot about it. When he did bring it out, it was well after we had finished our appetizers (calamari and bruschetta), and had started on our meals (2 pizzas and a Vongole). The bread was a huge let down, especially after the wait. And the Vongole was decent but a surprisingly small portion. However, the other dishes were very well made and portioned. I would definitely recommend coming, and I will probably try this place again, maybe on Sunday morning for bottomless mimosas. read more

I'll keep this simple. Pizza good. Everything else is overpriced, tastes like they learned to cook Italian food at community college, and it's all very overrated. Ordered the bruschetta and it was 5 bites of dried bread. They used feta cheese instead of mozzarella, probably to save money because what I realized is the menu is put together using COSTCO products and it tastes pretty second class because of it. The bread: not sure why you have to ask for bread, they don't just bring it out, I'd gladly pay for good bread, but unsurprisingly, it's not. Bread has no flavor, made using only light white flour, they need to add some density to the bread, a heavier darker heft like rye and/or wheat flour. Plus some salt, dang. And if you want to add some salt to your food you can't because the salt shakers are all gunked up and their too cheap to get salt and pepper grinders. Piccata Chicken was awful and totally overpriced. The chicken was that bagged frozen chicken from Costco boiled. The wine sauce tastes like dish soap water and the Angel hair pasta tasted like the $0.74 price saver's pasta you get from a Kroger. And who's dumb idea was arugula salad? It's like chewing on weeds. Arugula is added to salad, arugula is NOT supposed to BE the salad, totally lame. $18.00 for that. Get out of town. I just came from 13 years in Europe, i can promise you they don't disappoint you this hard anywhere at these prices and they're doing a lot more with a lot less. The calamari are usually very good but of course they were out. Whoever the owners of Oliviana's are, contact me if you me to come and tell you to your face all the ways you're screwing up. For starters let me say, that in general I love going to Oliviana's. The atmosphere and the staff have always been a cut above, but lately I've noticed some slippage in the kitchen. Last Tuesday I ordered a simple pasta plate with meatballs, as did my companion. To our surprise the pasta came out just short of mush. I came here after work on Monday. With all honesty, I absolutely love this place. The place was excellent and the service was excellent as well. The moment I walked through the door, I was seated immediately and my server patiently waited while I looked through the menu. Fun atmosphere for drinks on the weekend. We went for a date night. Highly recommend or for a girls night out. The music is good, and they even have disco balls!!! But the restaurant wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear each other (I hate that!) We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender and another couple. The bartender was extremely knowledgeable about the different wines the restaurant serves which we appreciated. It made the evening more fun. We expressed our preferences and he was able to pick out different wines for us. Also, the bartender was very attentive to us even though the restaurant was pretty busy on a Saturday night. I was deciding on places to take my Mother for our Pre-Mother's Day Dinner and happened to see a Facebook friend mention this place once I arrived home to Augusta yesterday, and it looked nice. They offer a Sunday Brunch as well, and have outdoor seating, and it was a perfect night for outdoor seating in Surrey Center. It is in the prior location of French Market Grille, which moved within Surrey just across the parking lot. I noticed it did have 3.5 reviews here on Yelp which, being well-versed in Yelp ratings, is certainly a red-flag to me, but it seems new, upscale, and I was certain it would be nice to at least try. I called to try to obtain a reservation and the answer from the phone receptionist was: "I'm sorry, we are all booked up for tonight, so we are not taking any reservations. We're only taking walk-ins." I said, "Okay, so we'll just walk in then." I anticipated there would be some degree of a wait, as we're quite patient people. When we arrived, the young receptionist looked at me and said that the wait would be an hour from when we arrived. Mom and I were somewhat hesitant and almost decided to go somewhere else, but we decided to stay because it was a new restaurant to us and we just wanted to try it. So, I stood back and watched as other people without reservations can in before going back up to let them know we'd wait, and the receptions was seemingly more explanatory with them, more jovial, and explained to them that "Oh, there is outdoor seating that's available now if you'd like to sit outside," and option that was never offered to us, and I noticed all of the others she was more explanatory of the options to were Caucasian, as was she. This made me quite concerned. When I made it back to the hostess area to let her know that we'd indeed wait and asked if there was seating that was more readily available outside, she said, "Yes, but there is a 10 minute wait on outside seating since I just seated someone else outside." I asked for menus so my Mother and I could review the options. We waited patiently, all the way I was looking at readily available tables outside for us and no one was commissioned to bust them. Once seated, our waitress seemed nice. Our drinks came out as ordered. We did not get bread until a little later. Once arrived, it wasn't warm, almost like it had been baked earlier in the day. The wait on our appetizers was about 10 minutes after that. Mom ordered the Crab Cakes which she insisted I take one of, and it was good. It was hot and served with a spicy, almost Cajun-like Aioli. I ordered the Calamari which I shared with her. She'd never had Calamari before and thought it was okay, but agreed that it was cold and that some pieces were fried hard and others not so much. We had no utensils or napkins to eat our appetizers once placed, which was somewhat frustrating. There is nothing more frustrating to have your food in front of you and not be able to eat it! After we finished our appetizers, we ordered entrees. I ordered the Blackened Salmon and Mom ordered the Ribeye Pork Chop dish. Well, we waited and waited. They eventually brought out the Side Salad that she ordered with her entree but there was no entree to accompany it. You bring out the sides of a dish with the actually dish, not before or separately. Finally, we continued to wait, almost 20 minutes from appetizer to entree, and the waitress came over and asked, "Are we doing okay?" My response was, "Where is our food? It's been able 20 minutes." She responded that "Well, we're a little busy in the kitchen." That response to me is irrelevant and is almost a cope-out for providing excellent service and is the mark of a poorly orchestrated restaurant regimen with questionable organization. In terms of service, this is one of the poorest restaurants I've even attended for dinner. We never received any more bread, and it wasn't offered. My "Blackened Salmon" was not even blackened. My food was served warm and my Mother's was as well. She very much enjoyed the pork chop and allowed me to taste it, and it was pretty good with the vegetables. The bottom line is this is a hometown restaurant that has the potential to be so much better but they have got to drop the favoritism for certain customers of a certain skin complexion over others. This is 2017. Also, their service is extremely sub-par, as well as certain food items as described by their very own menu. When the service is poor, it makes the food taste poor. This is not an Italian Steakhouse on the level of Davio's in Atlanta or a comparable restaurant. It is only an Italian Steakhouse by name only. read more

There were three large pieces of chicken with a side of angel hair pasta. The sauce was decent - lemony & creamy.
