Decent food. Olla desperately needs to have a staff member dedicated to to-go/carry out orders. Productively and orders would increase. I came in last night, Saturday, to pick up my online order. It took me 20 minutes after my order was ready to let a staff member know I was there to pick up my order, another 25 minutes to get it. The poor food runner was also the Expo and helped with carry out orders. Several people left when they saw the lines and how many people were waiting. Please consider a carry out position for the weekends. Overall, food was decent. I keep comparing it to socal mexican food- which is not the same. I'd say one of the better Mexican places in the area. Best Birria tacos by far. read more

Such a great spot to enjoy a great meal. I went on Taco Tuesday. You walk in and then order at the counter and then they will bring you your order. The line went very fast. I looked the menu up on my phone but they had their special listed for the day on a chalkboard. I decided on the elote, 3 birria tacos and a spicy margarita. The drink was excellent: jalapeño and cucumber to balance, and ofc a tajin rim. The food came out quickly and super hot. I enjoyed that you weren't limited by quantity. You could order as many or little tacos that you wanted. I was very full after the elite and 2 tacos. I will be back when I back in the Covington area. read more

Olla is great addition to the growing Covington neighborhood. The food is so fresh and about as authentic as you can get to real Mexican food. The atmosphere isn't much, a few small tables inside and some picnic tables outside, but it's a great option to get for takeout. The most authentic Mexican food in the Mid-West! Being from California, I struggled finding a Mexican spot that could compare, until I tried Olla. I'm at this spot once a week! Staff super friendly, and although the place can get real busy, the food quality does not compensate. Highly recommend the Guti fries with carne asada, Birria tacos, adobada tacos, and chips/ guac! Yes it was crowded but we got a table right away and it wasn't uncomfortable or messy or anything. The margaritas were very good. I liked that every layer of fries was seasoned and it was delicious. My complaint is that the Elote was ice cold when i received it and it was way more salty than other Elote I've had. read more

The food certainly taste and looks authentic. We ordered our food and went and sat on the outdoor patio. It was pretty packed as we went shortly after then opened but the food was made quickly. We ordered two mango margs, chips and Gauc, Elote Corn, two Quesadillas and a burrito. The mango margs were good! Everything had a pretty good taste but to me the quesadillas were the best thing! I had heard that their deli had some amazing quesadillas. The chips and Gauc were good and so was the corn. I didn't try the burrito but my husband said it was good. I feel nothing but the quesadillas stood out. It was good food but not the best food. Overall, I felt the food was good but not worth $90. My husband and I tried Olla recently, and loved it! I ordered the Guti nachos. I ordered mine a specific way. The fresh corn chips were layered with refried beans, guacamole, cojita cheese, onions, cilantro, sour cream, and roja and verde salsas. It was huge! I also got a side of Mexican street corn. The juicy corn was slathered with mayo, cojita cheese, paprika, and cilantro. So good! My husband ordered the birria tacos, which is like a spicy beef stew meat. The corn tortillas had a fry on them, and were stuffed with the tender meat, cilantro, onions, and cheese. They were served with radishes, lime wedges, roja, and verde salsas. They were delicious! Our daughter wanted the quesadilla. It was gigantic! It was loaded with cilantro, onions, cabbage, and cheese. She's picky but, she loved it! I got there with my buddy on a Saturday night at 7:30 and it was busy. The line was going semi fast and after ordering I was surprised at how quickly the food came. Oh my gosh, hands down the best Birria tacos I've ever had in my life. If you live in Cincinnati and want them, this is where you should go. The tacos were loaded and they gave you a ton of Birria juice and some of their salsas to try, it looked amassing, and yet some how tasted better. In the mood for Mexican, we found a little taqueria called Olla. They had a cute outside area but with temps at 92 degrees, we opted for to go. We ordered Chicken Birria tacos, the Carne asada platter with refried beans and rice and grilled scallions. Everything was prepared well with great flavor and attention to detail. The staff was friendly and accommodating. When we are back in the area we will stop again and also visit the Gutierrez deli which is where the taqueria evolved from. read more

Im giving a 4 star only because the Adobada burria tacos are freakin CLUTCH!!! If i were rating the elote it would be zero stars.... They use frozen corn !!! YUCK... it was all soft and mushy... another downfall is they dont give a receipt with food prices on it??? Not sure how our order got to $56 dollars only 2 of us that got 3 tacos each, 1 beer, fries and 1 Elote... definitely doesn't add up.... This will spot will be heavy in my rotation. I had a margarita while I waited on my food order. It was very good, on the rocks not frozen. I ordered three burritos, steak, chicken and shrimp. All of the proteins have great flavor. I believe this builds the flavor on the tacos and burritos. Just cooking the proteins and throwing in with other ingredients does not cut it. I shared the meal with my mom and cousin, they were equally impressed. I say they get 4 and 1/2 stars. Missing half star because they did not label the boxes. Charming place. Parking may be a little issue, it's street parking. The first time I came I came with a work group and I got the Birria Tacos, very greasy which is normal but my consommé was extra oil. I decided to try again and got the Carne Asada and Pollo Asado tacos. I like too see my cilantro and onions and it was barely any. I ordered corn tortillas and I received one (most are served doubled) and as soon as I picked up both tacos, they fell completely apart. My Carne Asada really didn't have enough flavor and the Pollo Asado was extra dry. I also ordered the Elote, very plain just cheese and chili seasoning, definitely not a fresh cob of corn for it to be boiled or steam. I wanted to love this place but I won't try again, my bill for 2 tacos and Elote was $10.60. read more

This is a great place for casual Mexican food. It has a small indoor seating area , but it does have outdoor seating when weather permits. I saw a lot of to go orders also. I ordered at the register then sat at the bar. The staff was fast and extremely nice. The food was amazing. I had the Barria tacos, and the meat was delicious. The star was the salsas that came with the meal. I cannot stress how yummy the food is here. It is not a traditional texmex restaurant. It is more like something you would find in Mexico. The birria tacos were delicious and came with a side of consommé and salsas to dip the birria tacos into. The birria was very well seasoned and high quality. I wanted to love it... but sadly, my first visit fell short of my expectations. I had previously tasted tacos from Olla at an offsite event and they were delicious- but our first visit to their spot in Covington left much to be desired. Upon entry, the place was lively with great music & fun decor - we were greeted but not in a super welcoming way- nothing bad, just felt like everyone just looked us instead of actually greeting us or welcoming us. There was bo line, so ordering was quick and smooth. I ordered two carne asada tacos, maduros, a tequila grapefruit cocktail and a bottled water. The bartender quickly made my cocktail but it was too full and super messy/as it spilled out everywhere when she handed it to me (there seemed to be no counter space to hand it off in a more organized manner) and it was juice so it was sticky and before I made it to my table my feet and the floor were soaked with stickiness. The beverage was also just ok. One of my favorite cocktail recipes, it was supposed to be tequila, grapefruit juice, lime and salt. Was basically just tequila and grapefruit juice with a few ice cubes gloating top and I had to ask for a lime. (It really would have benefited from more lime juice, a salted rim and MORE ice) As it's a small space inside, and was a bit crowed inside we opted to head out to their outdoor patio. The patio. More like pati-no. It was messy, the tables were a mess and dirty. Food remnants all over the tables as well as a high chair that had been improperly cleaned up and was covered with flies and the garage receptacles were not tidy or well concealed- basically just large open garbage cans right next to the dining tables. Not too appetizing. We chose the least dirty table and waited for our food (they give you table numbers and bring your food to you). It was also a bland boring atmosphere, as the great music playing inside did not extend to the patio. They brought our food out but no utensils. Also, my sister ordered a cocktail- which she had to go inside to retrieve (no one instructed us on whether we should wait for it or they'd bring it to us) and I had to remind server that I had a bottle of water with my order. My tacos were pretty good. The maduros were great. The salsa was insanely hot (no options for more of less- just one choice) - overall, this visit left us unimpressed but I'm sure I'll go back and give it a second chance. read more

Hope this isn't a trend... the food is very good there, but the service is inconsistent. Called to order yesterday, and after being on hold for 7+ minutes I hung up and went in instead. When ordering, i mentioned that to the cashier and she said "she forgot about us." Ok... so I placed my to-go order, as did my friends who I brought to Olla for the first time. When they handed me my bags, they seemed light. I at least caught that the guac and chips I ordered was completely missing, so that got added. But my Birria sauce was also left out (the best part!). And my friends order was completely missing the plantains they ordered. The refried beans were also not closed correctly, so half of the beans spilled out in our bag in the 2-min drive home after we picked up our dinner. Also, when you're running a business, perhaps don't turn the music up so loud so as to not be able to hear your customers or be heard when you call out that their order is ready. If it had been my first time there, it would've been my last. Happy birthday and all... but if this is where your business is heading, it's going to be your last anniversary. read more
