I enjoy this place and it's one of the reasons why New Haven will always be such a very innovative city in CT. I've been to Caseus a couple of times but visiting Olmo made me very excited. I enjoy the fact that you can eat at the counter and be entertained as you watch the chefs cooking the food. They put an awesome twist on American Cuisine which is interesting but very delicious. I was introduced to a new wine which I feel would be a common thing there, which I love. Being introduced to new wines is right up my alley. The savory bagels make a great backbone for their delicious sandwiches, stuffed with an abundance of egg and a sufficient amount of crispy bacon. While the bagels are incredibly tasty, and filling, the coffee is disappointing. Even with an added caramel flavor, the coffee is watery and bitter. Every time I drive into New Haven, I always see this place packed to the nines with customers. Today, I decided to get a pickup order to beat the breakfast rush of people and avoid waiting. I ordered online through Snackpass. The pickup process was easy and quick. I ordered an everything everything with spicy scallion schmear. Unfortunately , the bagel wasn't as good as I hoped. My bagel came on the burnt side and the spicy scallion schmear lacked flavor depth. It was spicy, but there wasn't any flavor beyond that. I also was supposed to get an everything everything bagel, but I'm pretty sure I was just given an everything bagel. I had high hopes for this place, but my bagel fell flat. My friend and I had a stunning brunch at Olmo on what happened to be their single restaurant week brunch day. I feel lucky we got to try it out. Frankly, everything on the brunch menu sounds good, but given the well-priced restaurant week brunch menu, we opted for one of each of the four items. The greens with vinaigrette, with such a simple description didn't at first seem that interesting, but it was one of the most refreshing and tasty salads I've had in a while. I'd order it again in a heart beat. The muffin, which was made in house, had some nice strawberry preserves, but it wasn't my fave. Not sure why. I think maybe I like more sugar in my muffins. The second courses were wow. No other way to put it. The grits - I didn't catch the type, but not the four-star - were delectable. Some of the best grits I can remember ever happening. The root vegetables and perfectly poached egg made for a party in my mouth with every bite. I got to snag a bite of Jennifer S.'s carbonara, too, and it was decadent an smooth. One of the most fun parts of this experience was sitting at the counter and watching everything happen. It did seem a bit stressful on this given Sunday, but the team did a great job and kept us entertained. Olmo is obviously still new. The best bagels in New Haven and Fairfield counties come out of Westport and they are $1.00 each. So this bagelry place is double the price for a bagel that is not even as good as Wesport's.
