I finally tried Olympia Cafe and when I say 10/10, I mean it, on all aspects! I decided to treat myself on my last week of living in Savannah. I love Greek food and I always enjoy venturing out to new restaurants. I went in on a Wednesday. My waitress, Hannah, was amazing. I cannot thank her enough for the level of service and the overall hospitality I experienced here. She let me try some wine, before I decided to commit to one. I also was provided a complimentary appetizer and she said "OPA" with me. It was truly an experience. I decided to try the branzino and I'm so happy I did! The fish was seasoned to perfection- it was fresh and light. I enjoyed it with their rice/peas and you have to have the Greek lemon potatoes. The food in itself had me wishing that I had more time to try more entrees on the menu. I had lived in Savannah for over three years and had neglected to visit them. I took the Greek lemon chicken home and Hannah packed me a little dessert to enjoy. I had mentioned my apartment was packed and she packed me extra silverware and napkins to go. She put the most level of CARE into my visit and I'm so grateful she was my waitress. Final Verdict: I will be stopping by whenever I'm in the area again. All I can see is OMG.....this restaurant is very authentic and the food is fantastic. If you follow my posts, you know I travel with my son alot and he's a vegetarian, and quite frankly, a pain in the @ss. I know we're in Savannah GA and it seems odd we're dining at a Greek restaurant, but there was something we both liked. The food was excellent. This was a cute little stop right on the water for drinks and snacks. We came in for drinks before a boat tour but the baklava looked so good we had to partake. We did not eat a meal but if the drinks and authentic baklava is any indication of their food, I would say it's a great place to stop for Greek food. We were visiting from out of town and wanted Greek food. Olympia Café says that it is a Greek restaurant I ordered a Greek salad that was absolutely horrendous. It was a plate of sliced tomatoes with a few slivers of cucumber and barely a tablespoon of red onion, three pieces of feta and two olives and two pepperoni peppers. It was the worst salad ever So very disappointing. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. The ambience is so so and the bathroom is really ugly. Stayed at the Hyatt on River Street and in search of local eats. We decided to pop in to Olympia Cafe since we had a stroller with a baby and luckily they were able to get us a table in the corner. This was baby's first time at the restaurant. We ordered calamari, souvlaki, gyro (yeero), and fish and chips. We asked for some mixed veggies for baby and received bell peppers, onions and zucchini. So don't get your hopes up for kid friendly peas and carrots. The plates were good, plentiful. I enjoyed the fresh bread for the table and also the calarmari was perfect. Lightly breaded and paired with a cool dipping sauce. Every so often a server would come by and make a fire with a table appetizer and it lit up a big flame. The ambiance feels authentic, very intimate. A family next to us had about four kids which I can tell annoyed some of the patrons. However it was great to see a family having a meal with all the wildness that comes with it. This was my second time here like 2-3 years later. We came back because we had a positive experience on our first visit. This second time around wasn't as great. The appetizers were tiny, the food took over an hour to come out, service was pretty slow... it was a mediocre experience and we'll likely not return at this point. The falafel was okay, the seasoning was a bit too over powering. Chicken kebab was DELISH, and the shrimp Aegan was probably the best thing. I love that there are three places to get things here. I've only done the walk in, grab a quick bite side, and I honestly think that's the best way. When you walk in, it doesn't look the best, but this is some of the most reasonably priced food on river street, and actually tastes good and is authentic to its region. The drink options are good, too! I got a mudslide and was surprised but hot yummy it was. Service was amazing. The gentlemen taking orders and cooking were so helpful with all of our questions. I'd give Olympia Cafe 6 stars if I could. It's that good. It's far superior to any of the Greek restaurants in Tarpon Springs, FL, which has a huge Greek population and lots of Greek restaurants. The food was incredible, the service was attentive, and the ambiance was just perfect. The owner is delightful. While searching for shelter from the rain, we ducked into this delicious Greek diner. Both of our gyros were excellent. I had the chicken which has tons of fresh, perfectly charred and flavorful chicken. The pita was soft and yummy. The server brought us extra tzatziki so we could dunk our fries. On 12/22, while visiting Savannah, we had lunch at this restaurant. Overall, the service was good. I ordered the gyro, which was a generous portion, and my husband ordered the souvlaki in pita bread. He asked if he could substitute the fries for a small Greek salad, and the server said yes. However, when the bill arrived, we were charged for two sandwiches at $15.75 each, plus an additional $9.95 for the small salad. It would have been helpful to be informed of this beforehand, as we could have adjusted our order and saved $5.00. Additionally, there was a 4% credit card fee, which we weren't told about until the bill was processed. With two beers tip included, the total came to $75.00--quite steep for lunch. The food itself was good, but the unexpected charges and lack of transparency left a negative impression. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

The food is delicious--like something your Greek grandma would make--and the service is very good. Unfortunately, the restaurant adds a 4% credit card fee on top of already high prices, and they don't disclose it until the bill arrives. That lack of transparency leaves diners without the option to know to bring cash or take their business elsewhere. And they aren't supposed to charge Visa customers more than 3%. This place was by far the worst Greek and Mediterranean food I have ever had. The "fried calamari" was clearly frozen, chewy, and bland. The chicken kabob platter was on a bed an old wilted shredded lettuce. Chicken itself 7/10. Not sure why they call it a Greek salad, when besides a tomato (wrong cut and type) it consisted of a mix of cheap feta and shredded mozzarella, doused in Italian dressing.
