Chicken Souvlaki Salad
Tamara D.

The service- Very welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. The food was delicious and plentiful. I had the chicken souvlaki salad! So good and so fresh. Before I left I got the baklava and kourabiedes to share with the office. My new favorite Greek Restaurant of all time. I will make this my regular spot for a delicious lunch!

Regular Greek salad

I ordered from here when they were 8 minutes from closing. I was craving a Greek Salad with chicken and fries. I thought it would not be great because it was the end of the day. Also, I ordered off DoorDash. Yikes! Well, like many times before, I was wrong. Haha This salad was really delicious. I ordered extra dressing and extra feta cheese. They gave a lot of both. Now I am funny when it comes to salad dressing. I like to try it before putting it on my salad. I did not love it by itself. But it tasted great on the salad. No ketchup included with my fries. It's a Greek think I guess? Anyway, the fries were pretty good. Luke warm but I bet they would have been much better real hot. I actually wanted to order from here the next day. I was disappointed they are closed Sundays so I was out of luck. They deserve a day off for making such delicious food.

Meatball pita pizzza

First time eating here and will not be my last time. I had the classic gyro and my son had the meatball pita pizza. We both enjoyed our lunch. We also took home several bakery items for later. So good!!! It's a small place in the middle of a neighborhood, but don't let that fool you. If you like Greek food, or are ready to try Greek food, this is your place.

Chicken souvaki salad

Got chicken souvaki salad and gyro salad take out. Both salads were large and fresh. The feta cheese was really good as was the dressing. This is an old school restaurant, bakery and market, so we had to try baklava cheesecake. It was good, but also sort of an odd mashup. But points for trying! Next time we'll go with the traditional baklava. Also the market has a nice selection of Greek wines.

Tucked away in Habersham Village you'll find Yia Yia slinging gyros to the masses. Cool neighborhood style deli with a wide variety of options on menu as well as takeout beer & wine. I went with the large Feisty Feta... it has a divine tomato feta spread that I enjoyed stuffed with fries & beef - although I did enjoy my wife's chicken version better as it had a bit more depth in flavor On Friday's they make a special chamomile iced tea that made me smile after every drink - the "nightcap" for us was the baklava cheesecake... a must have when visiting. Overall it was a good experience, and although the beef gyro tasted a bit generic, everything else was unique and exceeded expectations.

Our incredible feast!

We were in Savannah for a celebration weekend and needed catering for our group of 11 at our Airbnb. Choosing Yia Yia Kitchen was the best decision!! Working with Billie was soooo incredibly easy and fun. She helped me make all the selections, and even delivered and set up the food. The level of service I experienced during the planning process was unbelievable. The food is absolutely fantastic and we ordered enough to last us all weekend long. If you were reading this review and trying to make a decision on who to pick for your catering or a meal while in Savannah, look no further. They're the best!!

It was good but my Chicken Gyro the Pita bread was stale like.very hard and stale tasting and the chicken was salty. Hubby enjoyed his Lamb/Beef Gyro and they put fries in his. Greek Salad was good. The Fries were good. I will try again but scared.

The food and service is always top notch. The restaurant is nice and clean. You can tell it's a local gem. The gyros are my favorite.

I love Greek food and I always enjoy venturing out to new restaurants. I went in on a Wednesday. My waitress, Hannah, was amazing. I cannot thank her enough for the level of service and the overall hospitality I experienced here. She let me try some wine, before I decided to commit to one. I also was provided a complimentary appetizer and she said "OPA" with me. It was truly an experience. I decided to try the branzino and I'm so happy I did! The fish was seasoned to perfection- it was fresh and light. I enjoyed it with their rice/peas and you have to have the Greek lemon potatoes. The food in itself had me wishing that I had more time to try more entrees on the menu. I had lived in Savannah for over three years and had neglected to visit them. I took the Greek lemon chicken home and Hannah packed me a little dessert to enjoy. I had mentioned my apartment was packed and she packed me extra silverware and napkins to go. She put the most level of CARE into my visit and I'm so grateful she was my waitress. Final Verdict: I will be stopping by whenever I'm in the area again. This has to be one of the best Greek restaurants, if not the best I've tried in my life.

Then we ordered a shepard salad. They didn't have to do this, but it was very nice, they split it in to two for us. The salad was really good, it was chopped and loaded with flavor. I thought my wife was getting a gyro, at the last second she went with a falafel pita instead. It tasted good but she said the texture was bit funky. Awsome fries! Me, I had lamb chops, it was served with asparagus and rice. First the rice , a normal sized portion, and it tasted good. The asparagus, cooked perfect, also incredible good. Finally the lamb chops, OMG, cooked perfect, tasted great. Loved the lamb chops! We finished it off with some baklava. The whipped cream on it was different, but it was good. I would like to thank out server, she was wonderful and made it great meal! See ya in Ft Lauderdale

I love Mediterranean food, no matter where from, and know that every type is just a little different. We started with a shepherd's salad and server, without asking, had it split in the kitchen. So nice and thoughtful. The salad had great flavor and my husband and I loved it. We would have both preferred slab feta or even crumbled feta instead of shredded feta. Personal preference but we still loved it and we could taste the feta, so it wasn't a deal breaker. My husband has the lamb. He loved it. It wasn't a plate full of rice, which he also appreciated. The pricing was reasonable and the lamb was cooked perfect. I had the Falafal sandwich. I would have preferred tahini vs tzatziki but it was tasty. The Falafal was a little mushy for my palate but still good. They came with steak fries - my favorite kind of fry! We ended with the baklava. Every baklava we have ever had is different and we LOVED it. I was so full and was only going to have 1 bite, but that wasn't my story. Our server was amazing. She was friendly and helpful. She asked where we were from and recommended a few restaurants in South Florida for us to try. The restaurant can be fancy or casual - your choice. They made us feel welcomed and we enjoyed our meals. We would definitely go back next visit to Savannah - and there will be many more trips if our daughter ends up going to SCAD.

While I'd advise you to slip staying in the hotel where this restaurant sits, the restaurant itself (and the other one downstairs, fleeting) were bright spots in an otherwise lackluster hotel stay. We enjoyed breakfast here a few days. The service is fantastic (we saw Miranda a couple times and she made us feel like regulars, remembering our order and offering some sight seeing tips), all staff was friendly, fun and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is well done, with a Mediterranean influnce. We enjoyed the shakshuka (highly reco you add the kefta and ask for oven bread instead of the sourdough) and the Turkish eggs (also reco asking for the oven bread with this one), both dishes were flavorful and well executed (and we try shakshuka everywhere we see it!) We also had evening snacks one night and enjoyed the hummus with the mushroom add on and some of their signature drinks. Staff In the evening was also strong and didn't disappoint. If we ever find ourselves back in Sav we won't stay at the hotel Thompson but we will stop into Bar Julian!
